  1. Surely he’d be the best wouldn’t he ? I can’t think of a better on, DJ maybe, Gibbsy, Jimmy Tomkinson……maybe equal but none better IMV He just does extraordinary things every week

  4. The main thing here is Sarah, I hope she is doing ok. Is there any news ? For what it's worth both jockeys involved were on the track when Sarah was being attended to, and both were visibly shaken. Mistakes happen, but like I say the only thing that really matters at this stage is Sarah.

  9. Probably lots of "donations" to the TAB today.... but none to the Soup Kitchen...

  10. I was pleased to see PFP mention J.C. Tomkinson. He trained for members of the South Island's squatocracy, and he did a bloody marvellous job. Tomkinson was one whom my father had huge respect for, but Jamie Richards has now shown that he is the best trainer that our country has ever seen. That Group One Levin Classic today; I doubt whether we will see that sort thing again in my lifetime. Possibly PFP should have mentioned Ray Verner in that list of champion trainers, but the late Ray is nothing compared with Jamie.

  14. How long are you allowed to hang your leg down, Baxter, he had his leg down the whole length of the straight. Another bad habit this lad has is following to close, I've seen many driver flick their head when he is following them. Someone needs to have a talk to him before he causes some major damage, as he's not getting better.

  18. Murray Baker has an incredible record. Jeff Lynds has an astonishing record with unfashionably bred horses. He has given Danske, Just a Dancer, Electronic Zone and Don Edurado their only group 1 winners. Just off top of head. I think Jamie Richard’s, on top of his horse skills he has all the all round package (runs a big team of horses and staff, personable, modern and great communictor) to be a big success in HK. He has had Te Akau as a force in Oz since he has been there.

    Pathetic

Yesterday they only previewed about 5 horses in the parade ring for the oaks, then interrupted to talk to the bookie, very poor given its one of our premier races, but nothing new to be fair.

TT looks to have imparted strength in the hind quarter. He can do that, probably the Dubawi coming through.

  21. Obviously still trying the resolve the fall. It looked to me like both the leaders changed their line and closed the gap on the faller. The outside horse only seemed to move in slightly if you look at it in relation to the mown strip. The inside horse moved the most and closed the gap the faller was about to go through. Both jockeys would be in trouble I would say but probably Asano, I think it was, more so.

  24. Great effort by Sayer - they don't come much better than nailing it to the cent of the "bullseye" required. Fine efforts by Jayar and Cabbage for the minors too. Thanks again to Scooby for your contributions both in money and time and to Say No More for his time and the excellence of his scoring. Good comp.

  25. Rosehill Race 9 - Final race # Name Jockey/Driver/Trainer Win Place 15 Shelby Sixtysix Robbie Dolan 6.20 2.80 2 Big Parade Joshua Parr 4.70 4 In The Congo Tommy Berry 4.10 The comp was named Hit The Bullseye and our winner did exactly that. Congratulations to Sayer - hit the target with three races and stayed bang on - very nice indeed! Well done also to Jayar and Cabbage who finished within $11 and $14 of the target respectively. Goodison finished further from the target than all but 4 of the 67 entrants but finished with the highest aggregate ahead of Al Feilding and CommonSensical. Sayer wins a $200 bet and Goodison a $50 bet courtesy of our very generous host. Remember it's one bet (win and/or place). Thank you all for participating once again. Bettor Twist looked sharper tonight. I think she has taken a while to get back to her best after a hard last season. If she gets that sort of run like last night she will be very hard to beat in upcoming races. Self Assured jogged it. I thought BD Joe went well ...

Te Aroha are putting in an ambulance track on the inside of the course proper. We have a lot of jump races in the winter.

  31. Ah nope, it aint overated Spike mate, almost lost a close friend to it, after a month I saw her again and she was still not right; bearin in mind she was fit and healthy, she said she thought she was goin to drown in her own mucus, she couldn't breathe it literally sucked the guts out of her, she used to run 7ks a week, played netball, now she cant even get down the front steps and back....and she aint the only friend I've had that had it, but he also lost his mum because of it..... A millionaire Trotter Hopefully they will bring him to Australia so we can witness the horse in the flesh Running slow sectionals wont happen around Menangle or Melton Watching the drivers interview online, J Dunn always had an excuse when he got beat. All horses get beat sometimes there are better horses on the day If he wins at his next start J Dunn said he has won every Grp 1 in NZ which is an amazing feat only a champion can do Unhinged on facebook always rates J Dunn as the best driver of rating a horse in front

  34. Yes it would be good to see more donate as we have close to a hundred on many weeks entering the comps...surely a spare coin or two would not be missed for many...you never know when you could need services like this and its not nice to fall on hard times and have nothing.

  35. I see Brent Mangos got two warnings for whip use last night - he has already been suspended twice for this and yet still only gets warnings - he is either playing the stipes or a slow learner

  36. Maybe time to move on........understandably they were under pressure from the codes to maintain or increase the distributions. Hence they started paying out more than they actually earned hence their equity/reserves were minimal. Hence when it time to refresh/upgrade their crucial betting platform they had to borrow the money ,so were unable to pay their creditors. An upgrade was felt necessary as they were providing some 2,000 options to bet on each day when their Aussie competition offered over 20,000 or was it 200,000 daily. It appears that this 'investment ' plus cuts in other costs and improved controls along with duty savings etc has seen better results/profits. In addition $20 million was spent on upgrading Trackside equipment including modernising the 4 x Outside Broadcast vans which handle all the Live broadcasts. But paying out more money than you earn is real risky business practice ,especially if you hoping on tax/duty relief from the Govt . Hence the Codes now taking more responsibilty to build up some reserves and putting more expectations on Clubs to run their clubs to a good standard and help themselves. And its unlucky that all of us who could do much better at running NZ Racing than those employed , are doing other jobs. Bad luck indeed !

  40. Which is all an interesting point…. Roch ‘n’ Horse and Levante’s “new” ratings will go through the roof after Saturday’s result thus saving The Telegraph from being down graded! (Maybe The Railway too) They, R ‘n’ H & Levante are the same horses ability wise after the Newmarket as they were the day before, YET for sure they are going to be upgraded ratings wise or the Australian sprinters will all need 4 to 6 points knocked off their ratings. TAKE YOUR PICK on which way it will go?

    Why bother Whale

Every week the same, 3 tips tonight .. credit that he threw a $5 shot out, down the track however. $2.4 shot down the track, but managed to get the third one up at a massive $1.7 price. Why do Trackside promote this guy as an ace tipster ????
