  3. Show the proof moron....thats right you can't https://www.oliviapierson.org/blog/the-freedom-movement-in-new-zealand-has-truly-begun Remember, there are between 3 to 7-thousand people every day who walk around with cell phones. Very little happens during dramatic moments in a crowd without being recorded by hundreds of witnesses. Nobody flung shit at the police. That’s a lie so they could use riot shields (which they did the very next morning). Demand to see the footage. Nobody squirted cops with an acidic substance. That’s a lie and the footage taken shows they were actually pepper sprayed by another policeman. Nobody has physically attacked the police, but the police have used wicked brutality when we line up to protect toilets, cars, tents and temporary territory under extraordinary circumstances. The car driving recklessly toward the crowd was not one of us and he was quickly carted off by police and has now become somewhat of a mystery. Theories abound on social media as to his identity. The man who lit a Roman candle firecracker in the stand-off was handed over to the police by the protesters who did not know him. Was he one of them playing secret squirrels at a corrupt commissioner's direction? Possibly, maybe even probably, and the same goes for the guy driving the car.

  4. Law is never a straight forward subject unless your in China. Did the underlined piece set a precedent? This is the crux of the issue- access to evidence. and whether the RIB can go after a licensed person who has been convicted of a criminal offence. The other issue is at what cost is this to the respective parties, Seems to me the accused are spending a lot of money to keep name suppression.

Ditto, TM... I always remember Peter's call on the Wellington Cup that Il Tempo won: 'And here's Il Tempo bursting through the middle ... Il Tempo goes up on the inside of Highland Rebel, goes to the lead ... Il Tempo, oh what a terrific horse this is ... Il Tempo's won the money...'

Putin took Georgia while Bush was in charge and Crimea when Obama was in charge now Ukraine while Biden is President must have been something about Donald Trump that deterred Putin from trying that when he was President. Hokey and Mitey will know the answer their man is in charge now.

I hope the cafers have feelings for Hokey and Mitey when they are criticizing President Joe Biden about going toe to toe with Vlad. Couldn't imagine this happening when the prior President Donald J Trump was in command. BTW North Korea let 7 missiles go last week that's 7 more than when DJT was in command.

  16. RACING IN NEW ZEALAND FROM “WANGANUI JOCKEY CLUB 1848-1998” – LARRAINE SOLE, ABRIDGED. Let us turn the clock back to December 1848 and look at Racing as it was then. Racing here reflected that of Britain, but due to isolation and small population it was to develop a flavour of its own. The jockeys were large men so older horses with stamina were favoured. Every attempt was made to breed up to thoroughbred but at the 1848 meeting the horses at Wanganui were probably those of the mounted forces with perhaps a few better bred ones owned by settlers that were imported from Australia. In 1848 the thoroughbred as an established breed was not that old. It had only been in 1730 that the importation of Arabs, Turks and Barbs had been discontinued when it was thought that no more development to the breed could occur by using others. In fact selective breeding and nurture produced by 1848 a vastly different animal. The Industrial revolution brought change and people realised they could no longer keep horses to find out if they were any good. By the 1850 in Britain, the vast majority of horses raced were two year olds. Even yearlings raced until about 1900 but fortunately that never caught on here. The horses in Wanganui’s beginnings needed to be strong and mature for in addition to the rider’s weight they raced hard. All races were heats and horses ran twice over the same distance in a day – and sometimes more. So they could run miles in a day as well as being ridden to the track. The Rules stated – Where the plate is run in two heats the “preference” of the horse shall be determined by the second heat. If a horse was outclassed it could “save its distance” and not start in the second heat. Races could be “scurries,” distance or jumps but they were always held as heats. A horse that had no challenger in a race could “walk over” the finishing line to claim the stake. Later, “winner take all” became popular and a provision of ”save his stake” came in. This meant a horse coming second got a return greater than the Owners starting stake. Most early races were “catchweight’ or “welterweight” for heavier riders around 67kg. “Match” racing persisted for many decades. Where one owner challenged another for say 20 guineas and “half forfeit” The stake was held by a third party and in the event of a no show the half forfeit was lost. Later “pay or play“ came in. That meant a full forfeit. “Selling races” meant that Owners could put a price on the horse. If there was more than one claimer (after the race) lots were drawn. Wanganui was originally called Petre (pronounced Peter) until the late 1840’s.It was named after the Hon. Henry Petre a scion of a noble house in England who “ NELSON AND WANGANUI WERE THE FIRST TOWNS TO CONDUCT A RACE MEETING IN NEW ZEALAND. THAT WAS IN THE YEAR 1848 AND AS WANGANUI RACED IN DECEMBER IT MOST LIKELY NELSON WAS THE FIRST. HOWEVER THE WANGANUI JOCKEY CLUB IS THE OLDEST IN EXISTENCE TO STILL RACE ON THE ORIGINAL LAND... 10 NEW ZEALAND THOROUGHBRED RACEHORSE OWNERS FEDERATION BULLETIN

  18. There was some rearranging of the programme as the results below on the first day included the Welter Stakes and the Hurdle to be shifted to the second day. Results as were reported below. THE WELTER STAKES, OWNERS RIDERS Mr McDonald’s b.g . RODERIC DHU ------------- 1 2 to 1 Mr Cameron’s ch.g. JONATHON OLDBUCK --- 2 3 to 1 Mr Pattison’s b.g. LORD MUCH ---------------- 3 5 to 1 Mr Taylor’s ch.g DUCROW -------------------- 4 Mr McGregor’s br.g. PRINCE ALBERT ---------- 5 Roderic Dhu took the lead throughout and distanced the field. THE SCURRY STAKES One Pound each with six pounds added. Mr Skipworth’s b.g SCREW (Owner) -------- 1 – 3 to 1 against the rest of the field Taylor & Watts br.m. JENNY LIND (Brooks) ---- 2 Lieut McGregor’s bl.g. FANCY BOY (Trafford) ---- 3 All started well, Jenny taking the lead, collared by Screw going around the corner, who won in a canter. WANGANUI STAKES Lieut. McGregor b.g. SLIPPER 11st 7lb (Lett) ------- 1 1 4 to 1 Mr Skipworth’s b,g. SCREW 11st 7lb (Owner) ---- 2. 2 3 to 1 Mr Pattison’s b.g WARLOCK 11st (Brooks) -------- 3 3 5 to 1 Mr McDonald’s ch.g. PHANTOM 11st (Higgins) ----- 4 4 9 to 1 Mr Ross’s br.m. NANCY 10st -------------------- 5. 5 7 to 1 A finer or prettier start was never seen and the whole went off at a rattling pace. When half around Slipper shot ahead and maintained the lead home. The Second Heat was run in a similar manner. Both Slipper and Screw were ridden in excellent style. EDITOR’S NOTE – So this is how and where Racing started. It grew on and on to great days where it became a centre piece of New Zealand culture. Never mind the Rugby Racing and beer analogy this was a great pursuit and noble sport. It waxed mightily to the enthusiasm of the populace and it waned due to men of lesser ability and societal change. The diminishing foal crop caused by the “signal” of poor returns will see a further waning. Only when the “signal” of better stakes is evident will stronger breeding numbers of mares occur. NM

  19. Seven races at Riyadh on Saturday and as the saying goes "money talks, men (and horses) walk" with strong fields through the card. I'll talk more about the Saudi Cup tomorrow or Friday. The supporting card has three turf races and three Dirt races - the turf races all carry Group 3 status but have huge prize pots. The opening Turf Cup over 2050m goes for £666,667 to the winner. PYLEDRIVER was second in the Hong Kong Vase and I've always thought him a 2400m horse - he did win the Coronation Cup at Epsom. He was three lengths in front of EBAIYRA but both might struggle against Japan Cup runner up AUTHORITY who will love the quick ground. The two I like are HARROVIAN and SOLID STONE ridden by Messrs Dettori and Moore respectively. The latter is a solid Group 3 performer in the UK and is my idea of the winner. The Turf Sprint is over 1400m and again a maximum field. The one I like here is HAPPY ROMANCE who has Group 1 form at 1000 and 1200m and I'm just hoping this sharp track and quick ground will enable his stamina to hold up. The obvious alternative is NAVAL CROWN who looked good at Meydan but I'm more worried about HAPPY POWER whose Goodwood third in the Lennox looks decent form for this kind of race. I think he's more a trip specialist than HAPPY ROMANCE. The 3000m Red Sea Handicap carries a first prize of £1,111,111 so not far behind the Arc and the Derby. It's basically Saudi Arabia's version of the Melbourne Cup. SONNYBOYLISTON was heading for Flemington after wins in the Ebor and the Irish Leger but didn't make the gig this time - could he a 2022 contender for the big Aussie prize? he heads the weights and deservedly so - PRINCESS ZOE may struggle on the ground. I think the likes of SKAZINO and NAYEF ROAD are going to be tapped for toe and the Godolphin trio look the main threats - SISKANY was hugely impressive at Meydan and could be well treated. The Saudi Derby is over 1600m on the Dirt. Godolphin again have three but Bob Baffert has sent over PINEHURST who was fifth in the Breeders Cup Juvenile and runner up in the San Vicente last time. He could be too good for the UAE contingent and the locals. The Japanese have two and they must be respected for all they look a bit below the class of this race. The Dirt Sprint over 1200m is mainly a clash between the Saudi locals and the best of the Meydan turf sprinters. COPPONO KICKING won this last year but SWITZERLAND is a standing dish at Meydan and bolted up last time. However, DANCING KING has useful form in Japan and he might surprise them all.

  22. I actually think she’s an even better horse in the wet. Check out her last 200m of her debut run at Warwick Farm on a geniune soft track. She powered through the line. Her wide draw will be an advantage on Saturday as the track will be well and truely cut up by the time she races late in the day. Still paying $2.10 over here. I’ll probably have another bet on her on Saturday when I’m on course.

  30. You post this, then say this is not a vax/no vax thread and ask us to stick to topic. However, the topic is about vaccination and lying about it. Then you say "I know 100% for certain if we were not so vaccinated as a country then this outbreak would be so so much worse" How on earth do you know that? Not what the science says. Probably the opposite from my reading.

No, but unless they do, the fallout financially to jobs, businesses, people in general will be far greater than any cold [like the Queen's got] caused by Covid. For goodness sake NZ and particularly Auckland, wake up before it's too late. GET MOVING.

  35. So last week Judge Neave throws out all but one single race fixing allegation now, and there’s no betting irregularities or money trail on that one race ……yet the media stooges say nothing C’mon media, don’t be spineless, report the facts as this matter grinds on to the inevitable collapse ….if I know about it you must know too 10 million plus wasted, absolutely wasted, because there never was any evidence to substantiate the race fixing, PEDs, and blood doping allegations
