R Elliot (LEVANTE) - Admitted a charge in that he struck his mount LEVANTE 7 times prior to the 100 metre mark. After considering submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a suspension of his licence to ride in races from the conclusion of racing on Saturday, 22 January until the conclusion of racing on Monday, 7 February, 8 national riding days, and in addition imposed a fine of $4,000 Win should be taken away for that. That's why the rule is an ass, joke, call it what you want. The fact is; he broke the rule, gained an unfair advantage and beat them......wrong, wrong, wrong. This is just one of the reasons the game is now stuffed and that's because it's run by idiots all on the take! LIZ

  2. No one believes Trentham or Riccarton chute times I’ve ridden plenty there and it’s “roll your eyes” stuff …. downhill…short trip …the train back to town is quicker This is just a bizarre “we set a world record” chest beating exercise for those who have nothing to beat their chests about Go to Flemington down the straight 6 if you want to see how fast you really are, or Ascot / Berkshire, up the hill …… even Newmarket This NZ Trackside rubbish is an embarrassment … or maybe the 14 million dollar funded RIB has insisted we get a few new world records to justify their existence

  3. I hope that is not a serious question. I and others have been talking about those here and elsewhere for at least 15 years and racing has gone exactly where we predicted then without fixing them. I'm not wasting any more breath reiterating them.

    FORM ANALYST/JOCKEY AGENT

For what it is worth, Aidan Rodley is no longer Lisa Allpress's agent. She is doing her own rides.

  6. I was told today that it was hand timed. What is going on in Wellington, both with the club and with the NZTR. It's fine to spend $14m pa but something as important as timing in 2022 isn't? Where is the leadership? Come on you guys....we gave you a paper on the racetracks and timing systems 5 years ago. We did all the hard work and still nothing done. I seriously hope the next CEO can pour a beer properly.

  8. .Most of the races on the day were run at ambles, some pressure was applied after an early walk which excentuated how good Bankers Choice really is in the anniversary but also spotlighted the inability of many of our hoops to judge pace... The Japanese know what racing is really about, and their punters rarely walk away feeling hard done by....same cannot be said here.

  9. The reason the timing system we produced wasn't introduced was that we showed that you couldn't produce the sectional times correctly because the actual official course distance and the actual distance differed. Levante ran 1.06.18....a WORLD RECORD. The Wellington Guineas over 1400 was 1.23.17 and the 1100 Wellesley in 1.03.01. Bankers Choice ran 1600 in 1.37.80....so the track wasn't lightening fast based on those races. On that Levante ran each 100m in 5.507. That means that she runs the 1000m in 55.07 and beats the 2yo's by 2.5 seconds or 5l per second being 12.5 lengths. That the other horse ran a nose behnd means that two horses broke the world record. And just on a small note, what happened to the distances of a nose, a head or a neck. On Loveracing, the margin was .1 lengths...Really? Who's idea was that? A person with no history?
    2 points
  10. I must admit to having a certain amount of scepticism about the time posted for the Telegraph, considering other times on the day, and another horse a nose away. I have hand timed it off the screen and it seems correct, so the issue could be the distance, if there is an issue.

  11. I am not an apologist for NZ racing, leave that to you as you do a superb job at it. Agree Riccarton need a new stand and in time, if they survive, will probably get one as the birds around Riccarton Park have been poorly housed for years, it is just unkind

Exactly my thoughts...... Imagine if it had of happened in the Telegraph People would be after blood..... But bring a R65 race it will get swept under the carpet

This was an exceptional run, I thought last week he looked a bit tired. And even today before the home turn the jockey was getting stuck into him, I thought he was struggling..then hello what a finish. Alan Sharrock is a genius, they deserve to win the cup again, and wish them all the best possible. A little bit of luck and the horse will win again.

Interesting scenario if Levante was beaten by say Eptimum , Ocean Point or Live Drama under the same circumstances, would we be viewing this case a lot more vehemently ? This is going to blow up badly one day. What if one of Roch'N'Horses connections at home rings through and says Elliot broke the whip rules so put in a protest. If they are going to live by this rule why didn't the stipes blow the siren or is it something that's looked at well after the race ? Maybe all clear shouldn't be given until all the placegetters whip count is in ? Just seems it's such a half arsed rule. The big tough stipes suspending and fining jockeys well after the race because they can , yet so far off the ball when it comes to real time. If Ken got beat and someone told him to protest over whip strikes, the stipes and RIB would shit their pants. From now on ,if you get beaten in a relatively tight finish , I'd ask to view the film and stipes can count the whip strikes . This is going to end badly one day. And it won't be in a R65 for the lucrative sum of $12k

  18. The Telegraph times at Trentham have always been very quick and questionable. Victory Dias ran 1.06.59 way back in 1993, and Loader, Bawalaksana, Seachange, Guiseppina, Enzo’s Lad and Avantage were all timed under 1.07. As a matter of interest, the Flemington record set in 2001 by Iglesia is 1.07.16. Someone needs to get the measuring stick out…..

  19. Yes this ole chesnut again........... FRIDAY'S OTAKI MEETING LISA ALLPRESS RODE 4 WINNERS AND A 2ND ON FRIDAY AND RODLEY DIDNT HAVE ANY OF THEM AS HIS FIRST PICK !! SO HE'S A BRILLIANT AGENT BUT NOT A GOOD JUDGE....... YEAH RIGHT. THERE WAS ALSO A GOOD STEER AWAY FROM THE HOT FAVORITE IN RACE 6 TRAINED BY J. RICHARDS WHICH HE COULD OF WON ON . NOT ONE OF HIS FOUR SELECTIONS. GIVEN HE IS ALSO AGENT FOR OPIE BOSSON WHO INCIDENTLY RIDES MOST OF THE HOT ONES AT TE AKAU HE WOULD BE VERY AWARE OF THE TANGERINE MACHINE. THIS BUSINESS OF PICKING 4 HORSES IN EVERY RACE IS A BLOODY JOKE ANYWAY WITH THE FIELD SIZES WE HAVE THESE DAYS. AS FOR FORM ANALYSTS.......... MOST WOULD STRUGGLE TO EAT BETTER THAN RICE SANDWICHES IF THE ONE PICK PER RACE WAS IMPLEMENTED. PERSONALLY I DONT TAKE ANY NOTICE OF THEM WHEN IT COMES TO WHERE MY MONEY GOES BUT THOUSANDS DO AND THEY HAVE A BIG INFLUENCE OVER BETTING. FORM ANALYSTS....... I WOULD CALL THEM ANECDOTAL EXPERTS.

  20. Get someone to explain it to you : a 10-year-old or an ESL student would be fine. A 10-year-old ESL student you ask. Yes, should be no trouble. Just tell them to take it slowly.

  21. Their operating machines can not support many of their new exotics bets including the top 2 & top 4 options. They would have to make new machines for the whole country which at the moment is not on their agenda.

  23. They’d be blown into the weeds at Flemington in the Newmarket. Or Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield. Good horse but Ozi sprinters are next level. Probably a group two chance over there. Tried to steer clear of the rail on the fav and got too far back. Especially when they are running world records

No matter which way you look at it wherever it happens it just shows how unprofessional NZ racing is or has become...there is no way it was hooked up I bet money on it...if it was they would have opened.

  26. JJ Flash, your criticism of Sorting It is unwarranted. As I have written on here before, and JJ Flash this particularly applies to you; "IF you know the difference between your and you're you know your shit. If you don't know the difference between your and you're you know you're shit."

  28. I was taken a little by surprise soon after I started this thread. I had not realised there would be a Flasher skulking in the shadows, fully-coiled to seize the opportunity to sink their teeth into one of their pets hates , albeit it wasn't within the topic but in the literary device that preceded it. No matter. I was and am obliged to defend George Simon because it is the right thing to do and because I always have enjoyed his performance ; also for my own pleasure as it continues to wind you up. Most will agree that it is so welcome when Trackside race coverage cuts to NZ to take a call from George or Tony which relieves us for a short time at least from those atrocious, mangled ozzie voices. Thank heavens for George and Tony, fluid - and pleasant to listen to - and not just in the call itself. All racecallers make mistakes and performance will vary for a number of reasons. Whether George or anyone else fits your criteria of being great, good or poor at what they do doesn't interest me in the slightest ; its irrelevant -- as are you Fapper -- utterly and irredeemably irrelevant.

Im pretty sure while everyone looks at the CD, I remember races starting up north with not all horses loaded, oh that's right Ellerslie and had a Premier day called off before the last (hole in the track). For some reason its all a major when it happens in the CD!?

Great to see our echo win one for the south with the boys from rural Canterbury enjoying the occasion, that's what racing is all about, congratulations to them.

  31. Agree, They should sell up Wingatui and send the funds to Ellerslie to build another 3 tier stand to accommodate the massive crowds they get there. Really is a no brainer, why haven't the powers that be honed in on this

  32. Not having seen the document, I can’t comment on its contents. However, would it not be in the best interests of NZTR to ask the Owners, via some very basic research platforms available, “what they would like to see improved within the industry”. They, the owners, fund the breaking and training aspects of the horse. NZTR are woeful on so many fronts that they should look at themselves before consulting the wider industry about other aspects that require addressing. An independent audit of NZTR would have to be interesting reading for all participants in the industry. Cheers John

Yet again the Raceday operations crew escape any form of punishment ( I’m ok with that, we’re all human ) but meantime the RIB, and John Oatham in particular, want Wiremu Pinn’s license pulled because he’s not of suitable character in a modern professional racing world !!!! FFS are they drunk at head office ??
