Yeah, but this covid crap is mostly media bullshite swallowed by the young and vulnerable, any decent look at the evidence suggests that it is basically a flu virus and a VIRUS that may kill 500 - 1000 kiwis next year. Fairly normal.3 points -
and if you dont want to accept the assertions of Rand Paul within congress.... perhaps Mike pompeo's evidence is sufficient!!2 points

Nobody knows where it came from?? This is typical of people too lazy to think!! Logic/reasoning/coincidences & assertions&money trail.. can draw forth conclusions!! but if laziness is the best course of action.. then perhaps an Ostrich can better answer you!!2 points

I agree with what you say with respect to immunity against infection (particularly symptomatic infection) and severe symptoms. That's not what we were discussing though I don't think. We were discussing the reduction in transmission from vaccination. The Oxford studies suggest this effect occurs modestly immediately following vaccination but is non-existent after 12 weeks. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.09.28.21264260v1 I note this is an un-peer-reviewed pre-print.2 points

I get the daily data Read it for yourself The health system is not under pressure The daily infections are dropping below the seven day rolling average Only five people are in ICU Only two fully vaccinated people are in hospital The criteria for a red traffic light is NOT being met…..this is NOT a crisis as the media is describing it This data doesn’t lie2 points -
each to their own but if i ever see a teacher or nurse on the picket line again wanting more money i will gladly drive straight past them without blinking a eye might even stick the middle finger up.... they have sold there fellow members down the drain with these mandates nothing to do with being anti vax but how they let the government split them up with these take it or no job mandates is beyond me sad times2 points

The point is that there is NO police evidence that could bring a conviction for race fixing, there’s NO money trail, NO betting irregularities, but the RIB ( was the RIU ) is a very bitter and paranoid organization ….not to mention an expensive organization with flash new offices , and a 14 million a year budget…all derived from vulnerable pokie players, to chase shadows on the basis of what the idle gossips and industry snitches offer They're systematic abusers and they’ll go to any lengths to abuse licensees, hence they want the police surveillance evidence which is actually nothing more than industry banter1 point -

I see Austria is about to make the vaccination compulsory. That government has had enough of the detrimental effect on the population of other people choosing not to vaccinate. They are getting tired of the selfish. I believe the sooner we get closer to that approach the more likely we are to be able to live again. I see it as a bit like the anti smoking changes and the seat belt rules, both of which happened during my adult life. A huge cry from the civil libertarians, but in time the common sense wins through - smokers can no longer puff in the faces of the non smokers, and you get fined if you don’t wear a seat belt (even though it’s your own safety that is aff3cted). With vaccinati9n, it’s everyone else’s as well as your own. Bit of a no brainer isn’t it?1 point

Bat virus, but modified by Wuhan. The current virus does not infect bats any longer !!! But, as they said, probably an accidental release. Still thru all that, it is just another virus. And they been here way longer than us. the funny thing is, try telling folks that 500-1000 people are going to die next year !!!!1 point

What exactly do you mean ? My view is that immunity from vaccination lasts nearly nine months after which a third booster offers very good immunity The virus itself offers post infections immunity but it wanes far sooner Please advise if you dispute this and offer credible evidence to back up your claims ( that means not quoting the nutter Sue Grey )1 point -
Not quite right. Significantly effective (not very effective) and less so for delta than alpha. And it's for only 12 weeks from the second jab after which those studies conclude there is no difference.1 point

2003 SARS zoonotic bats and civets 2012 MERS zoonotic bats and camels 2019 zoonotic bats and maybe pangolins Anyone see a pattern ? BTW zoonoses are quite common so there’s no great conspiracy here As for the unvaxxed, your life will be untenable, you won’t be able to live a normal life other than visiting the supermarket ( and that’ll probably be banned soon ) or visiting your doctor …..welcome to a new world of loners and nillers sitting at home staring at their devices trying to find someone or something to hate….oh that’s right….that’s your life now so nothing will change1 point -

Don't get so defensive... They always find the animal within a couple of months. It has been almost two years now.... because there is no animal. It just so happened that the epicenter of the virus was in Wuhan, where the Covid lab is located. 1+1 =?1 point -

It is they could have closed the border and not allowed the red zone flights in just like she closed the border so late first time round...the way she has managed it is woeful...she had luck at best but that has fast run out...she treats us like school children and is so condescending the way she addresses the press conferences....wont release information except in dribs and drabs so she can get her head on the TV...no she and her cohorts are responsible for this look at other island nations virtually none on most of them...JMO1 point -

Wouldn’t be difficult Stodge, Arderns containment/eradication strategy was frankly never going to work with an airborne virus. And some of that “scientific advice “ has been coming from some dubious sources. The initial modelling was bullshit to scare people. We need to open the place up , and get back to something like normal life and get businesses moving again. The economic fallout has been huge. The virus is out there in most parts of the country with cases increasing daily. Containing it has been a failure, so you have the choice...get vaccinated and get on with it, or don’t and take your chances. National vaccination rates are getting to that 90% mark so lockdowns will not be needed or wanted, and the borders need re opening ( not until next year ) to revive the Tourism industry. Once International travellers start arriving again, we’ll see what happens then.1 point

So back to the question. If I’m a trainer or jockey can I attend race days? If I ride track work can I be on a racecourse to do the job I love? Industry has invested in my training and development. If I choose not to be vaccinated is that investment flushed because I’m effectively blacklisted. and given racing is primarily an outdoor setting does that not make these career limiting Restrictions OTT?1 point
-
Would Judith Collins and National be doing any better? There's little or no evidence I can see they would do anything any differently - they'd be getting the same scientific advice from the same people, wouldn't they?1 point

Yep your right there, has caused divisions, between friends, family, and workmates, how can that be a good thing, sad state of affairs and I see the farmers on the warpath with their protests, good on them ,the way it's all heading, should we really be worrying.1 point

Thanks. Has had a couple of nice trials in Sydney leading into this - in the most recent looked very strong at the line without being pushed. See link below. https://racing.racingnsw.com.au/InteractiveForm/HorseFullForm.aspx?horsecode=MzQxNTI4OTE4NDA%3d&src=horseform&raceentry=ODM1NzQ2NTMwNDA%3d&stage=Acceptances&Key=2021Nov20,NSW,Gosford&BodyClass=Popup Grand-dam is Tycoon Lil who was a favourite of mine - won the 1000 Guineas and Oaks here and won a Group 1 in Oz along with a number of Group 1 placings (including Might & Power's Cox Plate). Preferred the $11 and $3.50 earlier in the week in a tougher field but hopefully can beat this lot and put something in the bank.1 point

I have to say that I'm not entirely convinced of the vaccines even though was among the first to be jabbed. I also know some folks don't really have a choice, no jab, no job. That's a heck of a situation to be in. The impacts are incredibly far reaching.1 point
-
Not quite right, latest research from Oxford shows both main vaccines are very effective for 6 months at preventing transmission with waning after this period but still highly effective at preventing serious cases. We only need to look to NSW for evidence of how effective they are at preventing transmission, NSW R# is estimated to be under 1. The fact cases in Auckland havent grown exponentially suggest the high vaccine rate is reducing transmission.1 point

i have had one jab and will get my 2nd but its my choice, like everyone else i eat and drink and i wouldn't have a clue what's in my food so I'm prepared to take the jab and if it helps me then good if not well what have i lost??? but how certain workforces have sat back and let fellow workers lose their jobs without sticking up for them is disgraceful if the teachers and nurses had shown any spine what so ever we would not be in the position where a lot of new Zealanders are going to face take the jab or no job policy.... its no ones fault this disease is here but how its going to divide the country is our own fault........1 point

Because the vaccine does not stop us catching covid or spreading it, the vaccine passports are useless. Us vaccinated people only have a 13% better chance of avoiding covid than the unvaxxed If we are slightly worried about avoiding covid at the races - then the only way to have a safe event is for people to show a very recent negative covid test. Ideally the saliva test at the gate, or even better would be the breathalyzer if comrade allows it. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/covid-19-coronavirus-breath-test-device-developed-dunedin-childcare-staff-try-it-out/SSFPQ7GN27DWVOSHIDTFUIRSPM/ The vaccine passports are useless when it comes to covid health.1 point
