    Trackside Covid Ad

Surprised to see that group promoting the experimental jab that’s failing in ever department worldwide and looked dubious from Clinical trials, I wonder just how much George, Stephen, Tom,Danielle,Mark and the other guy know about the mRNA technology in which and the other guythe inventor herself describes as a therapeutic I know they have the best intentions but I certainly wouldn’t be promoting something I knew little about.

    Well done George

Simply not true champ.......and you picked a bad night to put the knife into Aaron by talking up George ,as George seemed off colour , ill prepared or both. I watched/heard 4 or 5 races ,in those I heard hardly a driver named and no reference to the fact that there were southern drivers up [ Tim won one]. Trust me ,that GS did state Kango and the Chief had the lead........early bird AND early doors WTF that ? And if you want to check a lacklustre call listen to race 6 where GS does say Ask Again and the wizard Todd M......a sloppy call and only 8 in the race. Of course less references to the Iceman ,magic man ,postman etc cos they were not there. Not your best work Spike !

  14. Saturday's final declarations are through and ten go for the Mill Reef at Newbury where the ground remains on the slow side of good. DHABAB got to within a length and a half of NATIVE TRAIL when third in the Superlative at Newmarket last time and that reads very well in the context of this but he's back 200m and I'm not sure. GUBBASS won the valuable sales race over 1000m in July and then ran third in the Richmond at Goodwood and a decent fifth in the Morny at Deauville. This 1200m should suit and he's top rated. FEARBY should go well - I think he didn't enjoy the quick ground at York in the Gimcrack but has sound claims on his Molecomb run behind ARMOR. GIS A SUB was second in the Gimcrack - his one blip was on slow ground at Goodwood and if the ground dries further, he's a decent each way play at 13/2. HIERARCHY won his first two but was a shade disappointing when third in the Sirenia on the slow Polytrack - perhaps back on turf with Oisin Murphy on board, he could be a player. That wonderful old stick DESERT ENCOUNTER at the grand old stage of nine bids to repeat his win in the Canadian International at Woodbine on Saturday evening. He was beaten nearly four lengths last time at Windsor but that was behind TEONA who went on to land the Vermeille last weekend so that may have been a decent run.

  15. Seeing a lot of these names in the comp made me go and start looking back through some old racing footage from the past. It's great listening to the races and hearing the names of so many great horses, not just the Champs (Grey Way Easter Handicap for example), so I thought I would throw 1 video for each team in here that might prove to be worth a watch (Lockdown fever setting in for me, possibly). Maybe it will stir some powerful performances this weekend Cheers, Phil

Further digging shows that Ricky May ,whose father is Terry May ,had two uncles Leo [ drove Vanadium a bit ] and Clive May. Clive was a Junior Driver 1955-1959 ,maybe before then but drove one winner in 1955. So likely he in photo above. Clarrie May , a blacksmith ,and Ricky's grandad trained Loyal Nurse to win Auckland Cup in 1946.

The stats on HRNZ website start at 1955 and most of the few I checked had driving wins or places that year and 1956/7 seasons and junior driver was beside a couple of them.I assume only winners and place getters are included cos a couple of those I checked had no mention Andrew Pringle noted as a junior driver in 1955 .....driving one second. Clarrie May was quite successful as far back in 1948 up to about 1970..... ....he involved with a good horse Loyal Nurse who won a NZ Cup when with the Berketts. Clarrie drove it to second in 1948 Interdoms. It could be another C.May in photo.. I'm still guessing 1955 for the photo !

It does look like G.D Shand but the time line doesn't fit with there being an A Pringle given it doesn't look like a massive difference in age between them. Could it perhaps be Georges father? There is a C May who I assume could be Ricky Mays grandfather. Terry May began driving in 1959 and G.D.Shand in 1955 so their fathers would have been driving together if G D Shands father drove at all. If that is right I think the photo could be anywhere from 1920s to 30s. A Pringle doesn't look too old. If he is the one that won the cups in 1908 & 1914 I thought the same thing. Is it possible Juniors back then were based on experience (or lack of) rather than just age?

  23. I thought I was holding back !! I don’t need to get involved anyway, the media is / are hunting in rabid packs on this one It’s got so much of a story behind it, and if it evolves into judicial / Police obstruction of justice there’ll be hell to play As for defamation proceedings by the absconders mother…..spare me…does she not realize that in a defamation both parties get to cross examine sworn evidence and bring forward witnesses ?

  26. Not sure what the rules say, or what is accepted protocol, but this could be a precedent with significant ramifications if it arises again with lower profile people and horses. What do cafers think? Danielle Johnson again rides Avantage with Lisa Allpress booked for Savy Yong Blonk and Troy Harris a late replacement for Ryan Elliot on Prise De Fer. “I had Ryan Elliot booked. With Catalyst not running, I asked him permission to put Troy on him and he’s let us do that. I’ll look after him,” Richards said.

  28. Thanks for the feedback. I will provide the breeding background for the big winners at least but feel free to ask anything and I'll see what I can do especially if any of the sires in which you're interested have representatives in Group 1 races.

  29. Over on the Stranglers thread "Whatever Happened To..." @Nerulaasked me to include some more breeding information in my ramblings. Okay, we'll give it a go but you can always just watch the races and enjoy the quality of the prose which is the Filet Mignon of writing (IMHO). A bit of fallout from last weekend with an update from Aidan O'Brien. LOVE and SNOWFALL, despite both being beaten on Sunday, both head for the Arc on October 3rd. POINT LONSDALE, also beaten at the weekend, is finished for the season while BOLSHOI BALLET and SANTA BARBARA will head back to America. ST MARK'S BASILICA's future is uncertain though reading between the lines, we may have seen the last of him on a racecourse. After the vicissitudes of last week, a much quieter week in Europe. The Western Festival starts tomorrow at Ayr while Newbury has its two-day September meeting and on Saturday we have the Group 2 Mill Reef over 1200m for the juvenile colts. 17 have been entered including GUBBASS and DHABAB. @Nerula mentioned the stallions Belardo, Showcasing and Iffraaj BELARDO has two entered at Gowran on Saturday - ELYSIUM, out of Sonning Rose, who won a Group 3 at The Curragh but flopped at Ascot last time and DISCO BOOTS, out of Nightswimmer. She's a modest handicapper and looks out of her depth in his 1900m Listed event. SHOWCASING has SAM MAXIMUS in the MIll Reef on Saturday - he's out of an Acclamation mare and got to within half a length of the useful LUSAIL at Newmarket. Last couple of runs, including one on Soft, not so inspiring. IFFRAAJ has the filly OUTSIDE WORLD in a Listed at Ayr on Saturday. She's out of a Clodovil mare and won a Nursery last time at Goodwood so could well have claims in this 1200m event.

  34. Races for this week, please post in order shown below, and don’t forget your 2 Best Bets… (a cut and paste will do nicely). 35. Not sure about that Shane The Vet Council give us regular updates, every couple of days, and the criteria to cross the border is actually a lot stricter than you suggest Could be different for hay sellers I suppose, but I doubt it If this goes to trial you’ll all be rolling your eyes…however if the clearly corrupted judiciary “circle the wagons” it may not see the light of day I hope for once in their weak woke lives the cops do the right thing and charge these two…..and they don’t get diversion……we need to see cross examination and all the evidence laid bare

  38. Otaki is an embarrassment. One 6 and three 7 horses fields already. It does make you wonder whether the industry's big problems were Waimate, Wairoa, Dargaville, Hokitika and Motukarara after all. Perhaps there is something else wrong.

  39. My guess, and just guesses (as I find the whole thing a side show and the Government are enjoying distraction) are. 1. He sells hay, so he would be able to get an essential service document to deliver hay under the animal welfare. 2. Animal welfare 3. She may have been down there before lockdown 4. I understand trying to get away with it. 5. Name suppression is easy to get for 24-48 hours, it then becomes more difficult. There are 2 million people in lockdown, 500 covid cases. 300 of them from Samoan church which I have presumed they are not part of. So chance of Covid are 0.01% They broke the 11th commandment: THY SHALL NOT GET CAUGHT
