    How about this?

Thanks for this, the two points I take out are: We have now 1900 races against 3000 twelve years ago. We have 4200 starters now, 5800 then. Stakes now $48m, then $58 I wouldn’t mind if I believed in or had confidence in our current administrators to see this for what it is. Instead, we get Jacinda-like comforting reports on how well we are doing. Like the tooth fairy, we are fed similar platitudes. Like her, the stories seldom align with the facts.

  2. Last one for me. Their best bet and early bet was Probabeel ($40,000 to win) and yet when they got desperate they were firing $30K, $50K on this and that on a whim. C Waller had told them his best chance of the day was Coastwatch and they put nothing on it. Yes they got out with a $50K quinella, but when they did (and this was at almost the end of the day) they were looking at meetings at Hicksville to try to bet more. I admire their spirit, enthusiasm and the interest they generate in the sport, but please stop leaving the punting to amateurs

How many senior trainers do you see being brought before the JCA for similar offences? EVERBODY knows the rules. Personally I think he got off lightly. Throw the book at them, it's time to start stamping this out once & for all. Otherwise the industry looks weak and it gives the animal welfare groups more ammunition!!

  10. How much have Bloomfield, Baker, Betty, etc all profited the last 30 years plus in their roles as 'Public Health Advisors' from various entities ? E.g what personal shares do they have in various Pharmaceutical companies, Heat Pump companies and the like? What 'Bonuses' will they stand to receive should they get a required 80% or whatever it is that there target is vaccinated? It's a well known fact Pharmaceutical companies pay Performance Bonuses, so one would reasonably expect that to be why they keep up with these so called Lock-downs - Lockdown is a word that to the best of our knowledge was not even in any Pandemic Plans from days gone by, nor mentioned in the Public Health Act. It's an American term that should never have been allowed to ever be used in New Zealand where we use the word Quarantine. Society does not repose in 'Isolation', and certainly not for any virus when people need care that has not ever seen people falling over dying on the street in New Zealand, nor were we likely to. Those details must be publicly disclosed as they are matters of Public Interest and acting with Integrity and Transparency as they are also paid out of the Public's Purse to fulfill their roles with our best interests.

  11. Let's just have a re-cap on this virus. Ardern characterises it as "tricky", "catastrophic" ,"ferocious" and most of all "A KILLER". At present with this latest F---UP at the border we have 429 active cases in new Zealand with only 2 in ICU, neither critical. Therapeutics such as Regeneron, Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine are not permitted so supplemental oxygen is the only treatment disclosed. And critically NO-ONE has died in this latest Covid theatre. Feeling conned? Well you should be. More of the terminally ill have died from the usual culprit (pneumonia) and tragically one young person from meningococcal disease, not to mention suppressed numbers of suicides.

TM will be no problem seeing who has been "bending" the rules when racing recommences. The clock doesnt lie. Unfortunately the rules are made by people who know very little about what they controlling. All so PC TM. They dont realise the industry isnt run by an off/on switch. The industry is pretty tightly knitted and no doubt those who dont have a private track have been offered use of one nearby How am I filling in lockdown you ask? Well to be honest not well at all. Crap TV (thank heaven the paralympics are on) doing crosswords and the like - bugger all else I can do. Fatty fatty not much diversion as she a champion 24 hour sleeper. 17. Throwing the book at Industry participants hasn't done much for the Industry in recent times . Senior 'participants' seem to get into their fair share of strife...quite a long list I suspect. Do young participants know all the rules ? They should ,but do they ? There are a hell of a lot of rules ,involving not only horse training and welfare but rules around business ,employing and being an Industry participant. I suspect education of the rules and expectations/consequences are not widely known 100%. Hence situations like the one being discussed here could be used as an education opportunity rather than a chance to throw the book at a youngish first time offender.....just like out in the real world.

  18. In all reasonability, these perpetrators should appeal. First offence and no harm done, it would seem a more reasonable outcome to stand them down for 14 days and expect two clear tests. Did the motor vehicle department of Victoria remove their drivers license for three months? Were they banned from the supermarkets for three months? Could any other business in Australia or NZ stand down an employee for three months, on no pay, for a transgression NOT at the workplace? David Clark would be quaking reading this given his breach of the law.. he receives ("earned" didn't seem a correct use of the word) 200k a year? So he would have dropped 50k. He lost nothing. There are a lot more examples of highly placed people not abiding the LD rules. RV overreacted. Simple.

  20. Incredibly stupid action Scooby…..we’ve all made them as youngsters but not in times like these. The cost is huge when you think they will miss all the major races…..Caulfield Cup, Guineas, Epsom, Cox Plate, Everest, Vic Derby and the whole Melbourne Cup Carnival etc…..I bet they are counting that cost right now. John Allen certainly made the most of the opportunity yesterday on Ayrton.

Covid19 related in fact as is mentioned in OT and not as uncommon as one may think keeps happening. Many similar examples have happened world wide if you keep yourself informed. The Left hand doesn't know what the Right hand is doing. That's what happens when Politicians read directly off a pre written script and omit Rule of Law. And No never meet Billy what ever his name is @bloke Just well informed and connected in various places. Have you forgotten that in Level 4 Lockdown in March -April 2020 it was deemed to have been in breach of Laws? NZ and Australia have followed other Commonwealth Countries who followed China's Template. Open your eyes and read those in the international Legal Fraternity Qualified opinions and Court Decisions. Also have a read on the UK Govt website and see how detailed the information is that they receive as compared to other countries. Credit where it's due, some States in Australia do provide reasonably good and transparent information, however it's not always been that way. Police are simply following Instructions given to them by Director Generals of Health, whereas normally they have greater controls and say of situations. Give it a week or so and hopefully more information will come out via Media

  28. Advertising of Pharmaceuticals, now how will those pulling the strings answer to this in Courts of Laws across the world when Big Pharma have previously been in hot water for Bribery and Corruption, as in Kick backs like Holidays to those who promote their products, not that many years ago? It will be interesting how this pans out in Australia as there's Courts cases relating to this very unethical behaviour from around 10 to 15 years ago. Big changes with accountability were introduced at the time to ensure Transparency and to s=bring corruption to a halt of a number of related issues. Just how much have Pharmaceutical Company staff and agents been successfully prosecuted with over the years? Have the same names been cropping up? Note the same pattern over and over again like that of the Tobacco industry and Cessation of Tobacco products, 'Parallel Advertising' for similar products alas with Coivd19 it may be in the Courts of Laws much faster .., There's always a Whistle-blower and then these those in the industry who openly place their own info online

You are correct, however you simply cannot move the prescient of 14 days and two clear tests to a new high of $5000 fine, 12 weeks off work and a silent fine of a few hundred thousand. That's a bit naughty by any legal standard.

    Post Level 4 Racing

Good leadership here in providing stakeholders/participants the confidence that plans in place and the intent is to recommence racing as soon as possible once levels lowered. Just like NZ Racing did in 2020 when approx 3 x months was lost..So they have that experience to go by ,a precedence. A young fella like yourself eljay must realise things not always black and white. Banning fast work means a variety of things....especially when daily exercise allowable for horse welfare.....minimal exercise was suggested but surely it possible to have strong work but not fast. And who counts/ times the daily work.....many have their own tracks suitable for strong work etc etc ,and staff in their bubble. But I suspect you know all this eljay ...wink ,wink. The alternative would not sit well with many........ie sitting on hands ,waiting around until levels change then making a decision which would piss off most.......OK , start letting the horses back in and we have decided they will need 4 x weeks jogging , 2x weeks faster work , trial satisfactorily ...then we will start racing again...yeah right ! How you filling in your lockdown eljay ?

  31. That statement - which is the summary of facts - alone should probably condemn them to a hanging! What happened to the NON licensed individuals? that committed the same crime?? Were they fined the equivalent $$ loss the other have endured?? It is a reasonably good fine for every Australian who breeches the LD rules, in NZ it's a slap on the wrist with a wet bus ticket, if you are a jockey, they destroy your life. Three months is too tough May the first man throw a stone..

  32. For a change from the usual, I thought I'd raise one of the questions doing the rounds up here. "How do we get more people to come racing?" https://www.bookiesfreebets.co.uk/2020/01/british-racing-attendances-down-for-a-4th-straight-year-in-2019/ Before the pandemic, UK racecourse attendances were falling - basically an 8% drop in four years. More than three times as many attended a Football League match as went to a day at the races. 2020 was of course a disastrous year for racecourses with the independent venues in particular seeing catastrophic falls in revenue. 2021 will be better but still a long way from 2019 - the problem seems to be not to get people to go racing but to get them to come back. Music nights are tremendous for racecourses - in 2019, Newbury had an evening meeting with Sir Tom Jones performing after racing and got 22,000 through the gates. In 2021, without the Welsh singer, the attendance was 4,200. The irony is a lot of people come racing who have no interest in racing - whether it's to listen to music or have a party with friends or the company or clients. I suspect there aren't many who attend a football match who have no interest in the football. One issue is the "difference" between the midweek bread and butter cards and the "premium" weekend fixtures. Racecourses face the same overheads in terms of staff, security, vets, ambulances and the like whether one person turns up or 10,000. The media rights money offsets that to an extent for the midweek cards but not for the showpiece weekend meetings. Looking at admission prices - if I wanted to go to the League Two (fourth tier) match between Harrogate Town and Exeter tomorrow, an adult seated ticket would cost me £17. To go racing at Redcar tomorrow evening would cost me £18 for a Grandstand ticket. At Newmarket, tomorrow's racing followed by McFly playing after racing means tickets start at £40 - Cesarewitch Trial Day on September 18th (no music) costs £29 for a Premier Enclosure ticket. If I wanted to watch Millwall (second tier) tomorrow it would cost me, as an adult, between £25 and £30 for a ticket. It's possible to argue racecourse admission isn't outrageous compared to football but add on catering costs and it soon becomes very pricey. On course food and drink are absurdly expensive and the racegoer is gouged. Cutting midweek prices to say £10 has been tried periodically but the numbers just aren't there to make it viable - the alternative is minimal catering, the problem is the overheads I mentioned above. I don't have any answers - there are one or two interesting ideas being floated but I suspect they fall foul of racecourse economics in a way the once-a-year country meeting in NZ doesn't.

  43. Saturday's final declarations are through up here. To be honest, this weekend is more about quantity than quality. 9 are left in the Group 2 Celebration Mile at Goodwood. With the strength of the mile division in general both among the colts and the fillies, this has a few in it who haven't quite made it at the highest level. That doesn't really apply to BENBATL who is still rated 118 as a 7-y-o. He's been off the track for the better part of a year since running a close third to the 2020 2000 Guineas winner KAMEKO in the Joel at Newmarket at the end of last September. We know BENBATL often runs best fresh - he was hugely impressive in the 2019 Joel and it's hard to think it's nearly 3 years since he got to within two lengths of a certain WINX in the 2018 Cox Plate. On his best, they won't see him for dust but time catches up with us all and that's the big doubt. CHINDIT won the Greenham at Newbury in April and has run fifth in the 2000 Guineas, St James's Palace and Sussex and on no occasion has be been beaten further than four lengths. That's decent form and dropping down a notch to Group 2 must give him a huge chance. HAPPY POWER was fourth in the Diamond Jubilee and third in the Lennox but he's not got any real form at 1600m while STORMY ANTARCTIC is a much better horse on wet turf. I take CHINDIT to finally get his decent prize though BENBATL is a dangerous adversary and especially so if close to his best. Just five stand in the Group 2 Grand Prix de Deauville on Sunday though there's a late supplementary stage in the morning. Looking ahead. STARMAN is 5/2 favourite for the Haydock Park Sprint Trophy on Saturday week.

    Post Level 4 Racing

Am I missing something - HRNZ have posted that they will be providing more racing when down to level 3 to make up for lost licences etc. This is intriguing. How will they achieve this? I thought that horses could not be fast worked during level 4 but they expect all these horses are going to jump out of the woodwork fit and ready to race! But I'm not a trainer and perhaps they can be readied from jogging to racing overnight.

We have it on good Authority that the Police and Supermarkets amongst others did not receive all information they should have been, once again, relating to Exemptions, and continuing on with Status Quo to go about one's life normally unless one is Unwell and has symptoms in which case one could understand one may need to stay home to get well, in general terms in New Zealand,. Has the same thing happened in Australia and within the Racing Industry perhaps??? Sounds just like the start of March 2020 when this carry on commenced. All roads lead back to the likes of Professor Neil Ferguson and colleagues at Imperial College. But wait, there's more, anyone else see a pattern of lack of accountability that starts at the same University with BSE, Swine Flu, SARS, Ebola, Aids ETC? Some of the same names keep popping up, shouldn't they have been brought before Courts of Laws by now? The BSE Report cost 27 million pounds and is 16 volumes
