Thats not so Flash JJ , as I can count 10 persons, just on the 'AWT discussion' alone, including your good self. you do seem inaccurate at times? maybe Pitman should man up and answer the critics instead of being so uneasy about it all.? I have no idea what uneasy is on about unfortunately , but seems some South Island tracks are better/safer/ faster/slower than others from the discussion.4 points -

Under the new arrangement, Group 1s will also be worth at least $100,000 with $50,000 for all Groups 2s, and $30,000 for all Group 3 races. Increased funding will also go to trotters and lower to middle-graded racing, and all races during the New Zealand Cup carnival at Addington will carry a minimum stake of $25,000. It is good news but the above paragraph is all about nothing. The $25k minimum at the Cup carnival represents no increase at all. The minimum for the group races also same as last season apart from a couple of group 1s that were raced for 95k in Auckland Still good to see the lower to middle class get a rise. Will be interesting to see how much it will equate to. I believe the middle classes, say rating 55 - 70 where we need a big boost is needed to make it worth owners hanging on to horses2 points -

I'm surprised no-one made mention of this on Trackside. Yesterday at New Plymouth there were 3 starters from the same family: Run Like Boo - out of Sequel (O'Reilly/Freequent) who is a full sister to Freequence Just Ask Me - out of Often (O'Reilly/Freequent) who is a full sister to Freequence Miss Dixie - out of Phoebe Snow (No Excuse Needed/Freequence) All 3 starters were winners Of course Freequence is the dam of I Do and Iggy Pop1 point

@barrybCount your blessings, and his he doesn't have a Credit Card, or perhaps a Debit Card. Too many young ones get them and get into endless debt. Bring back TAB's in local shopping centres -there's plenty of empty shops so no excuse for the TAB to not be looking to secure a reasonably priced lease, or purchase, suitable prominent sites with good parking and accessibility to lure the wider community back into Racing. It's an opportune time for them to get out there and market racing in all aspects. Maybe it's timely the TAB looked at the way they promote themselves as only 18 plus to bet and have Educational aspect promotions material for younger r interested people to join the industry within the TABs themselves.1 point

As has been said; on it's own, this increase will do nothing to stop the sale of those 2 - 5 win horse's that have reached their level here. They'll still end up in Oz where they can race every couple of weeks & earn enough to pay their way, probably more. When will the majority of us in the middle (the battlers) get a fair crack? If the TAB distribution figures above are correct, we really are the bronze medal code and this should be seen as embarrasing for the new leadership!!1 point

99% sure that Freequence was trained in the Taranaki and the 3 winners on Saturday are also trained in the Taranaki... you'd have thought that after all the years that have passed at least one of them would eventually be trained outside of Taranaki... obviously local people keeping it local still...... and I Do was also trained in Taranaki but don't know about Iggy Pop.1 point -

Ellerslie Sale Plans

Are you another one saying the Maricopa County audit didn't happen? Did Santa come down your chimney this year?1 point

It doesn't, but nor does the controlled access option. The only difference is that the controlled access is an inconvenience for customers and staff. I've spoken to staff at three outlets and none of them think it is a good idea.1 point

I tell you what TORCH , I have been to Ellerslie about 5 times in my life , and I reckon all 5 times, KEN BROWNE won a race (or two) going over that hill !! wonderful. whata horseman ! Should have been handed down in the Judge's sentencing Interestingly when you enter flemington they have photos of the banned folk, about 25, and they police it. Same with AFL and NRL and cricket, you play up and you are sidelined - being drunk and arrested gets you 5 years, love it1 point

Suspect he may pay the first one, then go "missing" like most of the miscreants who thumb their nose at the law. NZTR need to ban him for life.1 point

He has offered to repay at $100 a week, this being the geezer who said on Facebook he was cashed up and dudnt care what they threw at him 3 clowns did this at Cranbourne when the race was on 100s of metres away and got a lifetime ban from all Victoria race courses, the way it should be for this muppet1 point

Listed in court as unemployed but that didn't seem to stop him spending the day on the piss. Have to wonder why he was even there.1 point
-
No way he would have escaped with such a minimal sentence if John Tannahill (Rumpole) was still with us and on the job. Lets hope NZTR appeals. One has to wonder at the standard of legal representation many lawyers offer their clients in court. The cost to racing is huge. Extra security will now be needed to avoid copy cats. What about the jockeys? If jockey safety is not worth even one dollar potential jockeys will be put off if their lives don't matter.1 point

He got 100 hours community service,12 months supervision, and fined $8800.He also has to attend counseling.1 point

It's not easy getting the right balance between providing a secure environment in which racing can take place and ensuring it's a enjoyable and relaxing day out for those spending a day at the races. Over here, there is a problem at tracks which cross public land such as Epsom and York. At those venues, the public has every right to use the land in the middle of the racetrack but can only cross the course for example at designated points under direction on race days. Even during Covid, we've seen people on the outside of tracks watching the racing but as they are on public land not the racecourse there's nothing the track can do - drones are another aspect of this. Marshals face the crowd rather than the races to ensure we don't get objects thrown on to the track or people trying to trespass (for that's what it is legally). The other "challenges" are dogs getting loose from walkers on the adjoining land and at one or two tracks (Newcastle), deer trying to get on the track. Now, there's only so much you can do about the latter but the former can be addressed by reminding dog walkers to keep dogs on leads near racehorses. I'm afraid drink is and can be a big problem in terms of crowd control - there have been well-documented instances of fights at Ascot, Goodwood, Newbury and elsewhere. Societal attitudes to alcohol are one part of this - I doubt there would be much support for "dry" racecourses but we have for instance a ban on taking glasses outside - it has to be plastic containers. Some of the worst behaviour is in the corporate boxes but apart from the noise that isn't really an issue. I have heard some colourful language directed at a few jockeys in my time - I witnessed one incident at Lingfield when a senior jockey who was a tad over-confident on an odds-on favourite and got chinned on the post had to be escorted by security from the unsaddling enclosure to the weighing -in room as he was in danger of being lynched by an angry mob of punters. There is a limited on-site Police presence at most meetings - the courses have to pay for that and not all of them do.1 point

Wonder what his current employer (? Or maybe he is s/e) thinks of his out of work behaviour ,and for that matter any potential employer. That's the beauty of international tv coverage, facebook and social publicity. No hiding from your actions here buddy.1 point

This guy has to be hit hard or we are going to see copy cat cases. WRC representatives coming out and saying this guy is going to be banned from our course, it is not enough, he is probably a first time racegoer, and would not care. It would be the equivalent of banning me from going to a Basketball game forever. He needs a little bit of the 12 months possible spent inside a prison to scare others off, and not a little bracelet around his leg. They have to push for this.1 point

That's what I heard too. I was told that it was of the people who picket outside the main gate each time that Trentham has a major meeting. I can't confirm it thought. Are they from SAFE? I know that if you try to reason with them, it's impossible.1 point

It even got noticed over here in the UK and was briefly top story on the Racing Post this morning. I saw some video on Facebook and it looked extraordinary. The jockeys all performed wonders to avoid him and I hope none of the horses suffered any injury. At Kempton one Boxing Day someone dressed as Santa ran across the course at the end of the King George VI Chase and there have been incidents when groundstaff have had to take avoiding action when not realising races were longer than they thought and started repairing the divots but something like this I've never seen. My first thoughts were mental health issues or alcohol - if the former I hope the proper treatment can be provided, if the latter the book needs to be thrown. It's also worth asking about racecourse security and how this individual was able to get on the course so easily from the enclosures.1 point

Interesting that the Stipes report confirms that a CAUCASIAN male was arrested by the Police. Police 10-Seven has stopped describing criminals as Maori/Polynesian so NZTR needs to get with the woke times and stop stigmatising and stereotyping descendants of european settlers who may happen to get lost on the finishing straight at Trentham.1 point
