  1. Recent claims that Jumps racing cannot be run on strathayr tracks are a mistake. The A.V Hiskens Steeplechase or the Cox Plate of jumping as it was nicknamed was run at Moonee Valley on the Strathayr track many times as well as other jumping races. This isn't a dig at the club or anyone i am merely correcting the statement so the wrong information isn't spread. A public service if you wish .

    Strathayr Myth Debunked

and what a great race the Hiskens was at the Valley, even worth the annual trip to bleak city to watch it. imagine losing such an iconic race at such an iconic venue. soemthing like that would never happen in NZ would it sheep shearers. this IS a dig at plenty. but also in the public interest.

  4. Ted's wife, the honourable Grant Robertson, has just announced the new Board of the Racing Integrity Unit. I am a bit disappointed. Horse racing is so great because it is an industry full of imponderables and very subtle nuances. That is why we love it. It is so uncertain. So, when you appoint people to a Racing Integrity Unit, why do you appoint a KNZM, ONZM QC, ONZM, a doctor and a plebeian.. I note the ONZM is a former cow cockie. Some of my best friends are gumboot dancers, and I respect them, but to run the RIU? No, not likely. A former member of the Veterinary Council o

  5. Sensei left our stables this arvo on his way to Queensland where he will be standing at a fee of $5,500. It was very sad to see him go, I would have love to see him given his chance locally but because he was South Island trained may have not been considered 'exotic' enough People may not realise that he was a Sydney Easter Yearling Sales purchase who was a dual Listed Race winner and Group1 placed race horse, from a family that has produced 2 Golden Slipper winners in Sepoy and Canny Lad. His immediate family has produced 8 Stallions which have sired Stakes winning progeny and Sense

Enough already of the obvious bias for your mate, who started this by abusing me. I've plenty of skin in the game thanks, but its none of your business btw What you and your mate deem as negativity by posters - many view your over the top sugar coated , bias posts & attempts to find anything and everything right with the industry when it is clearly not the case as borderline delusion at best & deceitful at worse!

Seriously Huey , Why do you stay involved in Racing ,particularly NZ Racing. A much bigger, better racing country is nearby ....very close ! Non -stop negativity achieves very little and you will be aware of the message in the story about the boy who cried wolf . Do you have any skin in game or anything which prevents you from having a break......you are now starting to abuse other posters ...for what ? Cheer up champ or take up an interest in something which gives you more joy !

  10. I was at a small gathering of 'Harness' folk last night and all were very complimentary of how Jewels day went. One , a hard marker, said he ventured around the racetrack , spoke to a lot of people and said those attending were extremely happy with the day ,the facilities and the organization !

Listen "JJ Happy Sheep" I don't know why you have this deep fascination with giving these guys credit for savings in costs , when the industry has been screaming at them to do it for 20 years or more & even then they only did it because a) they had to - Broke b) Covid gave them the perfect excuse c) The government provided the real sustenance to keep going. You might be impressed by such obvious goings on what with your detailed experiences in the Private sector and all , but no me. I know youre going to pull out the old chestnut of the new regime etc. , but why

  12. When are people going to wake up? China are now vaccinating 3 yr olds... So 12-year-olds can consent to this without their parents? They’re children. The law says that most contracts with children are non-binding —you’ve heard of the phrase, taking candy from a baby, right? It’s the point that you can trick them; they’re not mature enough, skeptical enough, wise enough, experienced enough. But apparently 12-year-olds can “consent” to whether or not they want to be jabbed in the arm with an experimental drug that has not yet been approved, for an illness, COVID-19, that has less than

Correct, i can let you be a moaning stupid idiot all by yourself and a quick look back at your historical posts says it all about your negativity. You must lead a really sad life based on your previous posts. Probably a lost cause. When you inherit a near bankrupt business and industry participants call for cost cuts then the non performing "nice to haves" should be the first to go. I think that point is lost on you despite it being explained many times. It cost 3-4 million and obviously generated way less than that on a CB basis. I work in the private sector , you should try it-

    COPY THAT

Along with Copy That lacklustre effort , I think La Rosa , True Fantasy and Time Up The Hill were the disappointments of the day. Krug was beaten by great drive by Ben Butcher. Highgrove made a mustake at a crucial moment. Amazing Dream was on a hiding to nothing with the draw as was Copy That. Muscle Mountain was beaten by a gem of a drive fron Tony H . My prediction of 5 of those 9 named horses ( earlier in the thread ) to win was correct . My early prediction ( per - draw) of Laver doing well produced great odds. Will go through the breeding side of the results with the one-eyed

I see Jane Chapple Hyam had him for the two UK starts and owned by what looks like a Japanese syndicate . That Oslo that beat him from a top Juddmonte family too . He's had 10 runs since for 4 seconds , gone well , the other horse that beat him on 2nd AW run has gone well since too . Form looks solid , he will probably start mid week and over anything around 2000 plus midweek will chew up those Australian midweek stayers before moving on .

One in Oz to look out for…..Centroid…..half brother to Enable by Dansili. Bought for 7000 Guineas in October 2020…Dermot Weld trained, ran second both starts in UK, beating Raymond Tusk in one. Matt Cumani to train….should be winning a few from 70 rating.

  22. Didn't see Highgrove as unlucky. In fact after seeing him at Addington I felt theres no way he'd finish in 3 at the Jewels regardless of the draw but like you JL caught just a couple of good payouts but thoroughly enjoyed seeing good horses vs good horses in competitive racing.

  23. ohh look someone has had an SCS attack nearly as funny as a $10.000 metropolitan race or a $50,000 BIG race, irrespective of it's location. very uncivilised indeed keep looking for the flowers and let the weeds run rampant, and the kiwi racing fraternity wonder why they race for peanuts did someone say KFC !

Easier for trainers to train sprinters than it is to train 500m+ dogs. It's the sad reality of racing in NZ today

  25. And what are the $A stakes for jumping races in the 'Michelin Star' States of New South Wales [AUS] and Queensland [AUS] ? Name the biggest jumps races in those States , they seem to strive to be the biggest and best racing states in NZ. Certainly targeted a lot in flat racing by the champions CWaller[NZ] and JMcDonald[NZ]

  26. 116317.74 in AUD as at today, pogo. Just got my package for Everest Day in October - been to three of those but not, sadly, the last one due to effing Covid. Redzel was the best horse I ever made megabucks on. Want to go visit him, now in happy retirement, and say 'Ta, mate!' in person...

Frankel , 1st and 3rd in Derby , also got a winner in HK last night that I think was from his 1st crop or maybe 2nd . Kingman , Group 3 winner on Derby Day , Group 1 winner at Belmont Park Saturday in Manhatten Stakes , Domestic Spending looks best older turf horse in US at moment. New Bay , getting a few winners now . There were a few more Juddmonte Stud stallions chipped in last few days , or ones they raced and sold on . I see Running Man ran at Otago on Sunday , grandam full sister to Dancing Brave , hasn't inherited too much star power but on his day that horse is OK
