NZ has never copied a single successful idea from anywhere else; none that I can recall anyhow. All we take from Aussie is their unwanted administrators who can't get a job anywhere else.

  4. We are putting together a Betting/Racing syndicate that will be very affordable and a heap of fun! $25 a week is all it will be and only 50 slots will be sold! Below is a quick outline. 35 Weeks @ $25 per week. The syndicate will kick off punting starting the week of 24th May. Automatic payments must be set up the week before we kick off In Winter we will have 1 punter invest $500 a week and the other $750 will be banked! From October 11 once Spring Racing is upon us we will let 2 punters have a crack per week spending $300 each and the other $650 banked. Once the syndicate is finalised we will draw all names out of a hat as to which week you will be punting. At the end of the 35 weeks, if we dont have 1 collect there will be guaranteed kitty of $24000, if we haven’t even had 1 collect we should all give up the punt anyway We will use our kitty and go to the Sales in Karaka 2022 to buy a yearling and find our next star With 50 people / slots available each person will get a 2% share (ongoings after that will be billed directly to you) The highest money earner for the year gets official naming rights of the purchased horse. Contact myself directly if you have any questions.... marshracing@xtra.co.nz or text only on 0272288889

  5. That would bring in 65k per year , so likely be cheaper than the 25 per week unless the horse is living in a Palace trained by Waller . , or they use the leftovef to continue on punt . It's a good idea for bit of fun .

  7. If they wanted to support the bottom end could be that it's Auction type race , horses brought below a certain price, or sire average sale price . That's what they do overseas . Horse like Shared Ambition won a few auction races . Just gives a chance for smaller connections to miss the heavyweights unless they buy a cheaper one too .

  8. Yes, I find the results thing bloody annoying. The website often says running when the race has been over for 10 mins and the Aussies have long since resulted it. The fixed odds not updating is a total pain in the arse.

They dont know what they want and they dont know how to get it! It wasnt long ago that many of the smaller provincial club facilities werent good enough(excuse) to race at, especially for owners but now you can race without them all together, its a farce there is no plan ,no strategy,no leadership or direction,no communication(cause there is no plan) they just make it up as they go along ,with a little bit of input from the chosen few in the industry and thats why it'll likely end up like eveything else in the nz industry, only this time getting it right very much matters on whether the industry actually survives it or not!

  10. I like having an alias on this site but also happy for people to know who I am. I would think that if we put our real names in our profile page we could continue much as we always have without breaking the code of conduct. One of the reasons I've felt safe contributing to this site is that I've not seen the nastiness displayed on a couple of the Facebook blogs.

  13. After the excitement of Guineas weekend, attention turns to the unique turns of Chester (to be fair, Taupo makes Chester look like a galloping track) and its 3-day May meeting. It's not a meeting high on quality though the races are usually exciting. There's a sprinkling of Group 3 races and on the opening day we have the Vase, an established Derby Trial over 2400m. The race has a strong rollcall of past winners and the winner of the 2019 renewal was none other than SIR DRAGONET, who has of course gone on to win a Cox Plate and a Tancred. The favourite is SIR LAMORAK from the Aidan O'Brien stable who dotted up in a Leopardstown handicap three weeks ago - this is a step forward from that but he looked to have plenty of improvement in him that day. WIRKO won the Blue Riband Trial at Epsom but that isn't the race it was. The other features in the week are the Group 3 Ormonde on Thursday and the Group 2 Huxley on Friday. Looking ahead to next Saturday, Epsom Derby favourite HIGH DEFINITION is set to run at Lingfield over 2350m - a big win there and he'll likely be a very short price. Of more significance is French Guineas weekend at Longchamp but we'll pick up on that later in the week.

  14. The first day of the Guineas meeting at Newmarket took place on a dry, cool and windy afternoon. The ground was Good to Firm (watered) and the breeze was behind a slightly across the runners down the Rowley Mile. The feature was the 2000 Guineas and ten years on from Frankel, this year's renewal was one of the most open for years. At one point the bookies were going 5/1 the field but a late surge of money (including a £50,000 each way bet) saw BATTLEGROUND emerge as 9/2 favourite. If you've not seen the race: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Tmcp4xEmyw NAVAL CROWN set a strong gallop but the time was an unremarkable 1:35.69 which, on quick ground with a slight tail wind, wasn't extraordinary. The action unfolded to the far side and the first three home were drawn 4,2 and 3. Those drawn high such as BATTLEGROUND (15) were on the wrong side of the race completely and it may be they are better than that but the truth is the O'Brien runners were eclipsed with WEMBLEY and VAN GOGH flopping as did THUNDER MOON from Joseph O'Brien's team. I thought the mid-race move from MASTER OF THE SEAS might have been decisive and it was impressive to watch the horse scythe through the field suggesting he's not short of speed but up the hill POETIC FLARE was always holding him suggesting perhaps the second didn't quite see it out. LUCKY VEGA rewarded my each way faith with a fine run in third - I never though he'd win but he saw the trip out really well and The Curragh would be an obvious place for him to go next. The three were nicely clear of the rest and one or two reputations were blown apart. POETIC FLARE looks set to run in the St James's Palace for which he is 7/2 rather than the Irish Guineas. I'm struggling to see any Derby clues from the race. On the undercard, SIR RON PRIESTLEY made every yard to win the Jockey Club Stakes. PYLEDRIVER travelled up well enough but, as in the Leger last year, he wandered under pressure and is stating to look a little unreliable. In a sprint division which is looking very weak currently, a strong performance by the 4-y-o LAZULI in winning the Group 3 over 1000m. Whether that's good enough to win a King's Stand - well, in a normal year, you'd say not but with BATTAASH side lined, there's no star among the speedballs and it may be an opportunity for a 3-y-o sprinter to dominate later on.

I have seen Riccarton's biggest trainer say elsewhere that he won't have horses racing on the AWT, but it will be great for training. So I have no idea where the horses will be coming from. You get the impression they have backed themselves into a $15m corner and will now be doing anything possible to justify this massive waste of money.

  17. I know what you mean,if you bet on the tote, the odds change in some cases dramatically for favourites particularly for the place, the problem is it's simply not updated fast enough. My other gripe is it's very slow to post results, you basically need to change page then come back. With sport it mostly displays scores down left side but doesn't update on the game page, having said that over the years I've fucked around a lot of websites, this isn't the best but it certainly isn't the worst either.

  19. I can have the TAB Site open and after a little while it stops updating altogether! I have to manually refresh the page to get the current odds. I've been caught out by this before when punting...thinking I was getting certain odds but were very different after placing a bet! Another bug I have noticed with this $50,000,000 plus $17,000,000 per year piece of shit betting platform is...if I click on a runner who may have an apprentice aboard with a claim and then return to view other runners the claim has then disappeared and not displayed. Anyone else experienced this? Try it and let me know? I use Firefox as my preferred browser.

  20. I see Slam Dunk trying to stir up nonsense elsewhere about this thread and Leo and my friendship....As Chris says Leo is Leo and he does not hide behind a nom de plume without saying who he is and is happy to say what he thinks...unlike Slam Dunk or The Centaur or whatever other alias he wants to hide behind....he would not have the guts to front up and say the things he says to his or anyones face...at least Leo does say it as he see's it and everyone is treated the same. He has probably done more in his life than most of the ones who can not stop whinging and moaning about him...some of them really need to just move on ...but alas I fear they can and will not. My old boss used to always say while they are talking about you they are worried about you...its when they stop you worry...JMO FWIW. Have a happy Sunday.

Very true; but also very short sighted. I know I got my introduction to racing by going to the races. Betting off course was purely an extension of that. Getting crowds of young people along to the races once a year for a piss up on cup day at riccarton and trentham is not going to sustain racing long term, and isn't going to introduce new people to the game. As you said above Red Rum, one wet Cup Week and Riccarton is stuffed. They have been incredibly lucky so far to survive with no public facilities on big days. The pubic won't be appeased by telling them to sit on the $15m white elephant.

Plenty of horses down there Mike. Just poor programming leads to small fields. Many horses eliminated today and lots of ballots. 6 ballots in the rating 65 f/m 1,200m; only one got a start, another 4 or 5 eliminated. 5 ballots in the maiden 1,600m, two got a start. No opportunities for the eliminated horses for weeks. This meeting won't exist next year. It will be a mid-weeker at Riccarton. I hope someone counts the crowd numbers so they can compare a Sunday in Timaru with a Wednesday at Riccarton. The only thing we can say for certain at this time is that there will be more people in the public stand today than next year at Riccarton. As Bernie would say "at least we are relieving a lot of pressure on the Timaru track". Yeah Right! $15m well spent to help out poor old Timaru and their track pressure. I wonder if Kenny Rae will send Major Tom down next year to race on the AWT? I wonder if Kevin Myers is already planning a massive attack on the SI AWT meetings next year?

Seems weird that a club that can't even afford to demolish its condemned public grandstand, and has a much maligned turf track, suddenly has a $15m AWT that is largely intended as a way to facilitate the closing down most other Canterbury tracks. The net result of all of this is that SI racing won't be better off in any way. I presume the theory is that AWT tracking will be so successful and popular with the punters that they will be able to race for minimum stakes of $20,000+ on the AWT. Winston's previous contribution to racing was 15 $1m+ races. That had no lasting benefit considering the money wasted. Lets hope this one goes better.

  25. Well when I was in Mumbai 3 years ago Gruff I was alerted to the fact that scores of bodies are routinely left on top of certain designated buildings for birds of prey to have a feed. I suspect that is followed by a bit of a cleanup and cremation of the residual. It is concerning what level of deforestation (where's Greta?) is occurring with these myriad pyres and what level of death is caused by resultant pulmonary problems from the smoke. Interesting stats from Alan Jones the other night. India normally has 27-30K deaths per day. Up to 3K of these now attributed to Covid "carriers", so for a staggering population of nearly 1.4 billion it is not statistically catastrophic but it suits the media hysteria! Further , it is a legacy of an absolutely rooted health system in the country where only 1.6% of GDP is spent on health services. (10% spent in Australia and 16% in the US).

  26. Total joke. Compare Leo's penalty with the penalty Zac Guildford received for punching a woman in the face from behind with such force he broke her nose and she had extensive facial bruising - $15,000 fine and 350 hours PD v 2 years supervision (ie going to some course and having no conviction entered). Our judiciary have need to ensure the punishment matches the crime. Kia Kaha Leo

It's always "sides" with you isn't it. What's that all about? I see it like the school playground, where the two big bully boys China and Uncle Sam are choosing kids to play on their team. Back in the day, I always found it best to play on one side one day and the other side the next. That way you stay in with both bullies. You got to be light on your feet, smart with your mouth and occasionally you hit the bully boy extra hard and he learns not to mess with you. That's New Zealand. Other kids fall in behind one bully like a pathetic lap dog. That's Australia.

    Trump written off

Ohokaman must be over the moon to finally have this audit to prove Biden was legit. All this fraud without even the voter machines being examined yet Maricopa will be the first domino to fall followed by the rest of Arizona and swing states. Expect the deep state to censor/shut down all media and social media platforms as the information comes out. Biggest sting operation in history.... Remember Team Trump have already identified every legal and illegal vote.....they have it all not verified yet The audit is being live-streamed from 9 different angles from the arena floor at azaudit.org. The election workers are running true forensic testing on the ballots! Something HUGE is being revealed there right now! Here’s what we’ve received on Sunday morning:

  29. Subject to feedback changes , from July 1 a Social Media policy / Code of Conduct is being introduced.. License holders have always had 'rules' to comply with but now Owners and Club members behaviour will obviously come under these rules and specific requirements. Briefly all involved in Harness including owners and club members will be required to act honestly and fairly. And not act in a way which brings Harness into disrepute ! On social media the requirement is to identify yourself.......and post informed and factual information. And no abusing or threatening communication to Board members ,Riu , Judiciary , TAB and club officials. Dunno how many more 'jobs' this will create but it could be interesting ! Offenders will face meetings and possible disciplinary action. Maybe time to think about things overnight before hitting the send button !
