  1. I dont think a lot of you have any idea what Leo does or has done in the past for charity. I for one, have witnessed some of his good will being dished out. Yes, Leo is Leo, flamboyant, out there, not afraid to speak up, and he doesn’t hide behind anyone or an alias! Proud to call him a friend! Keep up the good work!

  3. I see Slam Dunk trying to stir up nonsense elsewhere about this thread and Leo and my friendship....As Chris says Leo is Leo and he does not hide behind a nom de plume without saying who he is and is happy to say what he thinks...unlike Slam Dunk or The Centaur or whatever other alias he wants to hide behind....he would not have the guts to front up and say the things he says to his or anyones face...at least Leo does say it as he see's it and everyone is treated the same. He has probably done more in his life than most of the ones who can not stop whinging and moaning about him...some of them really need to just move on ...but alas I fear they can and will not. My old boss used to always say while they are talking about you they are worried about you...its when they stop you worry...JMO FWIW. Have a happy Sunday.

Very true; but also very short sighted. I know I got my introduction to racing by going to the races. Betting off course was purely an extension of that. Getting crowds of young people along to the races once a year for a piss up on cup day at riccarton and trentham is not going to sustain racing long term, and isn't going to introduce new people to the game. As you said above Red Rum, one wet Cup Week and Riccarton is stuffed. They have been incredibly lucky so far to survive with no public facilities on big days. The pubic won't be appeased by telling them to sit on the $15m white elephant.

  5. I had the first 3 legs of the early quaddie in at Timaru today , I had the light weight chance Pownce running for me in the last , This is probably my wallet doing most of the talking but the horse pulled its head off for 1000 metres and when the jockey finally let it stride it had nothing left, IMO common-sense would tell with 52kg on your back its a waste of time letting it pull itself into the ground for 3/4 of the race , let it stride a bit and make the others carry their weight. Lack of Initiative or My Wallet????? Bit Disappointing

  6. I don't understand Scooby. This bloke was getting stuck in to everyone and anyone on your harness forum threads recently , including investigators and people doing their jobs, and with some very personal attacks launched on people. hard to support or condone that sort of behaviour on a racing thread. ? You and I nor he, don't know what people (posters, workers, etc) have done ? Could very be model citizens? you say everyone treated the same by him, but is a jolly poor 'same ', there's one bloke who is the one doing the most whinging and moaning it seems? anyway going back to the footy where we can do some good whinging !!!! Carlton v Essendon are in action and is a ripper match.!

My gut feeling WD is they don't want crowds , especially midweek . According to head of trainers association UK some courses happier not paying for workers to service meagre crowds midweek at lower tracks and quite happy with pay outs from off course and media. I suspect no crowd racing on a Wednesday is fine by Riccarton sadly .

  9. Look I'm the one that copped the spray, so let me advise you that Pooooper and I know each other though are not close, We have an equal share in a substantial asset, I think he was trying to educate me what a charitable human being he is, using rude words. To square this matter up I admit to being his senior as he is only in his golden 60's Also my complete ignorance on penal matters and I bow to his greater experience in those. But as to the other assertions he is wrong and he can stick those up his self important, chubby little arse. Lets leave it there.

  11. Did anybody notice overnight that the website was not working properly overnight, all the matches in the English championship, that's soccer was not updating after halftime, thus meaning they were taking bets on options that were already resulted,I'm not sure if the whole sports website was failing but someone must have made a killing but would the TAB honour those bets?

NZ has never copied a single successful idea from anywhere else; none that I can recall anyhow. All we take from Aussie is their unwanted administrators who can't get a job anywhere else.

  13. I can have the TAB Site open and after a little while it stops updating altogether! I have to manually refresh the page to get the current odds. I've been caught out by this before when punting...thinking I was getting certain odds but were very different after placing a bet! Another bug I have noticed with this $50,000,000 plus $17,000,000 per year piece of shit betting platform is...if I click on a runner who may have an apprentice aboard with a claim and then return to view other runners the claim has then disappeared and not displayed. Anyone else experienced this? Try it and let me know? I use Firefox as my preferred browser.

Plenty of horses down there Mike. Just poor programming leads to small fields. Many horses eliminated today and lots of ballots. 6 ballots in the rating 65 f/m 1,200m; only one got a start, another 4 or 5 eliminated. 5 ballots in the maiden 1,600m, two got a start. No opportunities for the eliminated horses for weeks. This meeting won't exist next year. It will be a mid-weeker at Riccarton. I hope someone counts the crowd numbers so they can compare a Sunday in Timaru with a Wednesday at Riccarton. The only thing we can say for certain at this time is that there will be more people in the public stand today than next year at Riccarton. As Bernie would say "at least we are relieving a lot of pressure on the Timaru track". Yeah Right! $15m well spent to help out poor old Timaru and their track pressure. I wonder if Kenny Rae will send Major Tom down next year to race on the AWT? I wonder if Kevin Myers is already planning a massive attack on the SI AWT meetings next year?

  26. GRAND CANYON was, like TINGLE CREEK, a brilliant jumper and excelled at a track like Sandown. It was the era of the southern hemisphere jumpers such as CRISP and the 1973 National which is etched in the memory. FOOTPAD will go on to the Virginia Gold Cup and then the Iroquois which is one of the top US jump races. He was brilliant at Cheltenham and Punchestown in 2018 but he was never as good over further. In terms of buying new "talent" for the UK jumps scene, it's France for the 3-y-o ad Ireland for the older types. Today's concluding Bumper at Punchestown was due to feature a horse called GULLY BILLY, who won a 4-y-o maiden point at Tipperary last November after which he was sold for £310,000 (yes, you read that right). Cheveley Park Stud bought him and he will be trained by Henry de Bromhead. If you want to see why the British struggle to compete, that's the reason. In pre-Covid days, the top British agents would be seen at any and every Irish point sizing up the young horses for potential purchase but if Irish horses cost too much then it's off to provincial France to look at the 3-y-o hurdlers and chasers in the summer. The French imports are favoured over the British ex-Flat horses because they know how to jump and are effective on slow ground as they do their racing on the overwatered Auteuil track in Paris. The Irish horses are later maturing types - they go over 4800m as 4-y-o so speed isn't their thing. I tend to swerve an ex-Irish pointer if he's introduced over less than 4000m but they make good hurdlers and of course chasers.

what a farce. no plan to have any jumps races ???? you are dead set kidding !! AWT racing LMAO, so if Tasman Man reckons jumps racing doesnt draw crowds or turnover what do you reckon will happen with winter racing on "dirt" you kiwis collectively are going to end up wth the arse end of a pineapple if this keeps going. i've never seen something deteriorate like NZ racing other than Zelda Kratchanova's figure ( don't forget she was Miss Vladivostok 1972)

  31. Easy up there, You got the wrong impression.I dont know how community work is imposed. Is it discretionary what you can do? I am pleased to not have expertise in that area. I have visions of you being bussed out to cut weeds. Ignorance can be bliss. If you can choose to do the community work that meets your social conscience I agree it is not as onerous as what i thought. No need to be abusive pardner.

  33. What are vetting rules around the late scratchings? If they see a sign of blood (small cut, nick) are the vets forced to scratch under the rules? If so that would be insane IMO. Would like a clarification as agree far too many late scratchings that immediatley change the complextion of a race and the punter is left helpless to change tact..

  34. Careful, Weasel57, the ARC programme for June will likely include a Boxing Day Classic! Whether that's late for 2020 or early for 2021, we - and they - will have no idea! But don't just knock the ARC - the dolts in Sydney have well and truly f*cked up the 'Easter' programming over there in recent years, too.

  35. I fund the comps I place the bets...its their right to chose to punt on whoever they want to. I hope they win but at the end of the day its totally the winners choice to gamble on whatever horse they choose ..its all for fun at the end of the day for them.
