That's the great aussie racing product that's all the rage and rave, bloody sad about the demise of the injured horse, certainly makes one feel quite sick, I see they lost one at riccarton as well, must be so devastating for owners and trainers, was always pleased to see our old boy get around in one piece, first and foremost , living the dream retirement these days, very well cared for.

Unfortunately for Dogzstar we did have a repeat of a previous time. Paigezim had 72 x the Place 6 going into the last and got the first 3 placegetters so ended up with 216 times the Place 6 of $97.70 for a collect of $21,103.20. CommonSensical got 2 placegetters but Dogzstar hung on for 2nd with CommonSensical getting up for third. Everyone who was live in the Quaddie going into the last struck it but wasnt big enough to trouble the leaders. 10 people turned a profit for the day. Congratulations to all.. Andrew Adkins aboard The Snooperstar must have been feeling a state of deja vu after almost going down half way up the straight! This time caused by James McDonald angling out severely on the eventual winner Ahead Start. Hugh Bowman has obviously learnt nothing from his time on the sidelines that caused Andrew Adkins serious injuries last year! Bowman at the very same moment also angled out sharply on his mount Rothenburg with very little room to do so which subsequently clipped heals crashing heavily to the ground and fatally injuring the horse! NOT THE FIRST TIME HUGHIE! Suspensions and court case's could be the order of the day? Thoughts anyone?...or am I totally wrong and just full of emotional blindness??

Saint Hugh got 17 days for his effort on Port Loius when he knocked 3 over. Obviously no big meeting coming up

They are waiting for a few more incidents to take place so they can make a compilation video with music by their resident rave master. So far they have - A hole in the track - Golfers on Course - The race that stops Pokeno or maybe it was Mercer - We take your iconic races and never giving them back - Track Staff on the track during a race - False start debacle - Change the dates charades But don't worry about a thing, get yourself a horse or two because they are soon going to be running $100k races on a regular basis!

At least they had maintenance men putting the divots back. I doubt that there were any doing that at Riccarton today and I can guarantee that there wont be any at Awapuni tomorrow doing it! Just saying

After much deliberation ( what detergent to wash my blindfold) I have thrown the dart and landed on ALL OF BRIGHTON R5 No 6 at caulfield,200/400 will have fingers and toes crossed and my nuts in a knot by racetime ,thanks again for the opportunity,a once in a lifetime punt for me.

Well Scooby that was a surprize when i came home from hospital. Mr Gee rang me and said i had struck the quaddie in Randwick ..14k !!? nearly fell over backwards. and saw i had hung onto 2nd place .when i was hoping just to be in the running ..and improve from last to middle of pack. No i didnt have any money on anything at TAB .been wheeling wheelchairs around the hospital been everyday since last sat till late in evening and coming home in the dark .. Thanks once again for opportunity and hope to score good for you guys next week ..cheers Rob.

Tasman, haven’t been involved with Avondale for a few years now, just a member. So no bias at all, a previous Board at Ellerslie sold a lease on some land, not wanted by them, but negating a lease that the Thoroughbred Breeders Head office had on those same grounds. Under the watch of CEO Chris Weaver, forcing NZTBA to sell a building that had been build with the hard work and good support of breeders, for next to nothing. However, that long lease arrangement generated a significant sum, pre paid, to the ARC (of which I was a member at the time) to allow ARC to invest in various areas and provide a significant reserve sum. A good move for the club balance sheet, somewhat disingenuous of the CEO at the time about the TBA Lease, but they have reserves worthy of an educational course to John Allen of RIB fame. Same CEO wanted to sell the hill for commercial purposes, but the pushback was too strong. There is no need to sell the hill, as the reserves are good and the interest return would be extremely poor, so why do it. I struggle to think that they would consider such a move at this time, but then, they are not perhaps as smart as previous boards. I am not longer a member at Auckland Racing Club, only Avondale and the VRC, who do know what they are doing and have done so for a very long time. Cheers John

It was great to the Aussie stewards not mucking around, maybe NZ stewards could do the same, eg Kirstin Barclay driving style in the home straight in the group 1 breeders stakes. Not a mention in the stipes report?

Commentator Aaron White pointed out that Brad had bookended the day in NZ harness. Prior to noon he won the first race at Winton in deep south then prior to 10pm he just got up to win the last in slush in Auckland. A good days work , hopefully he got paid travel time !!! Not so accurate was Aaron's comment that the 2.44sec time in 2 yr old fillies race could be a NZ record. The two previous runnings of event had been won in around 2 min 40 sec. Of interest was the fact that driver Mark Purdon had been associated with the past 8 winners of race as either a driver or trainer ! A good nights racing......shame that the rain turned the track into a mess !
