    TAB NZ - WOW!

Maybe they could reduce the fixed odds takeout of 130-140% , the highest in the world, to a level that is lowest in the world to induce offshore/more customers. Not taking small bets from targeted customers with a 40% margin is laughable and the worst publicity they could endure. Get real in a real world.

Mitchell Kerr found guilty at JCA hearing 25 March 2021 , News Former Canterbury horse trainer Mitchell Kerr has been found guilty of four charges at a Judicial Control Authority hearing in Christchurch. Kerr was not at the hearing which was held at Addington Raceway Kerr handed in his trainer’s license last year, citing mental health issues. He was subsequently charged by the authorities after an investigation. The hearing heard how Kerr had a gambling habit that involved him losing around a million dollars with an Australian betting agency. The tribunal concluded that Kerr was involved in a series of fraudulent activities including selling a horse that didn’t exist, charging for insurance policies that were never taken out, and that he oversold shares in horses that he had no right to sell. He was also accused of forging signatures and disguising his fraud with multiple acts of dishonesty. While Kerr was found guilty on four charges no decision has been made on his penalty, with counsel seeking a substantial disqualification, if not a life ban. A decision on his penalty is expected within a week. Its fair to say the Press and Star will dine out on this once again and good on them its news and better authorities be seen to be getting rid of the baddies than denying they exist IMHO Im sure Kilcoyne will have a differing view

What a load of crap. All three were driven to win the race its just that she had last crack and came with superbly timed run. You conspiracy theorists really need to get a life or learn how to read a race . If you want something suspicious to talk about try the penultimate race down south yesterday. You are well named though as after a couple of drives owners obviously worked out your ability BTW neither MP or BO drove in the race this thread is about

  5. Fair comment I guess ,cos an independent poll saw them about 6th on list with Grant Elliot's winning 6 v South Africa [World Cup Semi] being #1. But the Jo Sullivan story is a brilliant one in my book.........not popular in rowing cos of his lack of size ,he and Cohen won the spot for the Olympics but were not fancied at all They made the final but were last at the halfway stage but somehow stormed thru the field and won Gold. It was an amazing performance......winning gold at Olympics is special and gives the Sportsman extra kudos in any awards. The rowers return to NZ and their sport and still Jo Sullivan , the Prince of Picton , is told he is too small and dumped from elite rowing. He resumes a 'normal life' joins the fire service is saving lives etc and a mate at gym notices his power and tells him to try out for AC yachting as a grinder. He does ,gets selected for Bermuda ,helps win the AC and repeats the dose last week in 2021. IMO a modest and humble champion who deserved this recognition . IMO Olympic gold from nowhere outpoints a lucky slog at cricket as McCullum also one of the contenders !

  9. The final declarations are through for World Cup night at Meydan - a stellar eight race card with five Group 1 and three Group 2 races. I'll mention the Group 2 races first starting with the Godolphin Mile. MIDNIGHT SANDS won the Burj Nahaar, the trial for this, three weeks ago convincingly though the second that day, CHIEFDOM, may have a chance from an inside draw of getting enough of an advantage to make life more difficult for MIDNIGHT SANDS. AVANT GARDE has placed Grade 2 form at Gulfstream and has claims. TUZ was third to MIDNIGHT SANDS and CHIEFDOM three weeks ago and I fancied him that day. I think he could go well but this isn't an attractive betting race. The Dubai Gold Cup over 3200m on the grass is the big staying race of the Carnival. SPANISH MISSION was second and SECRET ADVISER third in the insanely valuable staying handicap at the Saudi Cup meeting in Riyadh (first prize £1,095,000). On the weights, the latter has a big chance of reversing the places. SUBJECTIVIST ended his 3-y-o campaign winning the Royal Oak in Paris on bottomless ground - his best runs are on deep ground and I can't fancy him on this sound surface. I think the favourite may be the one for this as well. The UAE Derby is over 1950m on the Dirt. This looks wide open with the locals facing a strong Japanese challenge. PINK KAMEHAMEHA won the Saudi Derby at Riyadh last time while FRANCE GO DE INA has won his last two. The local challenge is led by PANADOL who won the Al Basatkiya three weeks ago and UAE Oaks winner MNASEK who was very impressive our course and distance. At a big price I quite like the American challenger AMBVALENT who ran well at Del Mar in the Bob Hope last time. A case of Bob Hope or no hope perhaps? SPACE BLUES is 6/5 for the 1200m Al Quoz Sprint and he did it really well in Riyadh last time but that was over his trip and this is 200m shorter. FINAL SONG won the trial for this but ACKLAM EXPRESS ran a blinder in third and is a tempting each way interest at 33/1. The draw has favoured YAUPON and MATERA SKY in the Golden Shaheen and the former, with the experience of American speed tracks, looks the one. LORD NORTH is 7/4 favourite for the Turf over 1800m and while he's a very good horse, he's in LORD GLITTERS' yard distance wise and there won't be much between them. AL SUHAIL was third when EQTIRAAN was second behind LORD GLITTERS in the Jebel Hatta. As this was his first run off a break, I think AL SUHAIL could finally fulfil the potential he has shown at home. MISHRIFF has been handed the outside draw in the 2400m Sheema Classic and that's not helpful. He's now 5/2 co-favourite with the Japanese CHRONO GENESIS and my fancy MOGUL whose fine win in Hong Kong looks serious form for this race. The World Cup looks a weak renewal - my original fancy, SALUTE THE SOLDIER, has a lousy draw and the money has come for the American MYSTIC GUIDE but he won a handicap last time. JESUS'S TEAM, who chased home KNICKS GO in the Pegasus, looks a possible but he's also got a poor draw. If you can excuse his Saudi Cup effort, CHUWA WIZARD has claims and at 14/1 is a sporting each way bet. Selections at this stage: Godolphin Mile: CHIEFDOM Dubai Gold Cup: SECRET ADVISER UAE Derby: AMBIVALENT (each way) Al Quoz Sprint: ACKLAM EXPRESS (each way) Golden Shaheen: YAUPON Turf: AL SUHAIL Sheema Classic: MOGUL (Nap) World Cup: CHUWA WIZARD (each way)

Good call and exactly why i and others will never bet on races down South. But wait- the sleepy Stipes may have seen something odd which makes a change "After speaking with Drivers M Hurrell and K Barclay Stewards opened and adjourned an enquiry into the tactics adopted through the middle stages." Odds on either of them getting a holiday- ???????? "

Just great racing better than the boring old hand up to everyone and walk and sprint home. Those sorts of speed duals make it for horses futher back in the race

Why? don't you like seeing the Best go around? They always give you a run for your money so these three drivers way better than most to Bet on. better in the money than not. As far as team /stable driving goes. Nz team driving standards exceptionally high. Don't forget other's like Dunn's and Telfer's getting excellent results often as well. Telfer stable winning many races in Auckland last few weeks, due to multiple runners. Check out the last Auckland meeting 12th March. Races 5 fav handed up easily to stablemate , so run Quinella and Race 7 they're at it again in the 2 year old . Well done to them I say. It's Not easy beating Big Barry.

    Why bother Whale

I think Samhara placed and that was his lot. We all understand punting is hit and miss, but picking red hotters requires big betting.. maybe 2% of punters. Whale you are better off picking value coz your red hotters invariably fail anyway.

Why do they need a balanced book at all times? Are they gambling or not? Can they not balance the book close to kick off and encourage investment and repeat investment? In the bookmaking game but too scared to risk anything( gave 1 million away on tua v lewis with their absence of cojones)

That is $40,000 more than Auckland put into their races. Their $1m races receive $50,000 as a listed race and $250,000 as a "gift" from the rest of the industry. The rest of the money comes from the sweepstake funded by owners.

  22. This paying to 14 is the greatest robbery (without a gun) of owners I have seen in a long time. With average runners of 11 per race, NZTR is not paying out for an overage of 3 runners or 6% of ADVERTISED stakes. NZTR have saved nearly 2 million this season alone. I personally think this is not right!!!
    1 point
  23. Distribute the stake money 65% the winner, 20% second, 10% third and 5% fourth. Horses placed fifth through to tenth get their entry fees and riding fee refunded. The savings in Goods and Services Tax would be huge. Consider the split to be 62.5% first and 2.5% for fifth for races of $50,000 or more, in which case it would be 6th to tenth get their expenses refunded. The above system is too simple for the powers that be to comprehend, and guess what the trainer's percentage would be if that trainer was good enough to train a horse to come 9th when the tenth horse was scratched. Sweet F.A., and F.A. is not the Football Association.
