  4. The great team went out with a bang last night and once again got the spoils in the Cup. Read elsewhere that many will not be sad that they are leaving as the big spoils can be shared around more now. What a load of crap, dumbing down the game is a recipe for declining standards overall IMHO Farewell to 2 great professionals and may you one day return to do it all again

Mike, rule 1, to help you Don't bag those with skin in the game, particularly our Jockeys - they put their ife on the line every ride. Respect them

  6. Really...people bagging them...the industry will be much the poorer without them...just my humble opinion...anyone who bags them or slags them off is just sour grapes...MP is the consummate professional....and a bloody good judge of horseflesh from what I have been told.

  7. Well I am goin to miss them hard!!! I loved seein em racin, I loved goin to watch em at workouts and races, their horses are always turned out in immaculate condition, trained to the minute, they are consumate professionals and I loved everything about em....when you go to watch them you know they are ready to rock and your gunna see summit, just look at the Cup the other night AmazingDream what a race, she ran down my fav the mighty Spankem; wore him down corr, come on how could you not applaud their talents....they are a drawcard plain an simple, their leavin, Harness will be the poorer for it.....that said, I wish em well for their time out, for me AllStars will be sorely missed Cheers Iraklis

  8. Not sure about the haters bit or team driving either but as you say "everyone is entitled to their opinion" on here so good on you. Unless they come back we may never see a more lethal combination again based on their records. In itself that's why harness is going backwards as the game ts turning into an armature /hobby type sport with declining punter turnover. In doing so stakes can not go up but they can go down.

  9. I can feel the knives already, but I for one was never a fan, too much "stable driving" I hope the big races get a few different trainers, owners and drivers winning them. I know I'll have my haters but this is my opinion, everyone is entitled to theirs.

  10. Thanks team, last ride was fine from Masa, my fault dropping him back to the 1400m. He had stable obligations, so I opted for Sam, a picture perfect ride. Last winner she rode for me was Guns At Five in the Wairoa Cup, a fair while ago. She takes the mount on Side Eye for me today in the last at Tauranga, and he is a nice each way bet. Happy New Year to you all, and may 2021 be the year for you!

Rather than muddy waters by reference to other jockeys - I will congratulate Lisa. Cracking rider and person. Well deserved and as others have said great that Racing is recognised in this manner.

  12. Thank you to Mark and Natalie for all the thrills that you have provided to the industry. Will be greatly missed by all. What the future holds for New Zealand's greatest training male / female compo only God knows. Best of luck for the future.

  13. 1. Superb atmosphere, weather, crowds, track and horse numbers. 2.Stipes reports which seem to suggest a high level of horse intractability? rider incompetence? 3. Stormy!! 4. Bosson's "competitive (Elliot)" riding comes unstuck--maybe the wasting ( both SofS and I of Paris 56.5kgs which he has had to forgo rides at recently) is making him an irritable jockey. 5. Joan Egan--have never seen the lady before but what a gracious, articulate interview she gave after Concert Hall's win. 6. Crossing caution. The huge dust cloud thrown up as a large field (Cup I think) went over the crossing could potentially cause a problem. Worth mitigating.

Don't take life too seriously, Mike. However, making dick jokes about a woman's name isn't the most mature thing to do.

I have to confess,I don't know what hercock looks like, has she got blonde or dark hair, maybe no hair, does she ride with a upright erect stance or a more limp crouched action, does she like to stick to the front or come from behind?

Yes I thought TT would have a few more. I think I counted just two on Gavelhouse this year as weanlings so maybe a sign breeders are keen to hang onto them. There's one in the MM and two in Classic.

  21. The last Central Districts meetings at Manawatu didn't appear to have the same number of trotting races as the more Northern meetings have had of late. A non-winners race for trotters in North [a mobile] in past week had ONE nom. Yet there were a few races when 20 noms were received for NW ,hence 2 x races run. Yes trotting races in North have been attracting more noms cf pacers than would historically have been the case. Yes trotting races have maybe 'filled a gap' but I wonder whether NW trots attract as much betting as pacing races ..hence unattractive ! Many on here used to moan their arses when NW trots included in PICK 6 for example. As for grass track racing , up until about 1970 Ashburton , Timaru ,Oamaru , Gore etc all were grass tracks .....must have been a real good reason why change took place.Certainly some got quite heavy with rain ! The 'punting mecca' Australia doesn't have too many grass tracks these days !!! Lake Hawea in Central Otago had a picnic meeting a few days ago....Balfour [Southland] another. Remember Pirongia ,Boxing Day . Why can't concerned Harness enthusiasts organise their own grass track meetings......start off as picnic or equilisator......and show the TAB and Harness bosses you mean business ! There used to be one at Te Awamutu which I didnt think was up to much even if our horse did win the Cup.....better if in a Tourist town There are tracks around or some big paddocks....plenty of yellow cones ! Don't CRY.......CREATE !

  22. After the coast circuit quite a few horses will have to trial satisfactorily before they race again one would think!. Suggestions have been made P (happy)Lamb should also have to trial before he is allowed anywhere near races punters can bet on.
