    Loose Riening ?

If he was "tight reining" would he have been done for not driving the horse out. At times you wonder if the authorities know what these very technical terms actually mean. Maybe it's time for the horsemens (horsepersons) association to demand clear and precise explanations to some of these rules/regulations.

    TAB Formlines Laughable

Just looked at the formlines written for the Open 2200m Handicap at Invercargill today. Who writes these? Some TAB publications have this as their only write up. Punters are being given a disservice here with a very shoddy effort from the TAB! Understood these are opinions not facts but they are clearly written by somebody with VERY limited knowledge of racing. Below are the formlines with the errors/inaccuracies bolded underneath. 1. X0259 Wild Jack (11) Stephen Blair-Edie Amless Bohorun (3) 62 (R88) C(13-2-4) Dst(1-0-1) Appreciates the trip. Resuming. Place preferred Resuming? This horse raced on 11th November at Riccarton in the Couplands Mile! No mention of class drop or distance hike. 3. 01X17 Picture Me Rollin (8) Jo-Anne Dalton Daniel Bothamley 59.5 (R87) C(8-4-3) Dst(0) Resuming from spell. Should be thereabouts. Resuming from a spell? This horse also raced on 11th November at Riccarton in the Couplands Mile! No mention of class drop or distance hike. 4. 43334 Dr Velocious (7) K & A Tyler Courtney Barnes 56.5 (R77) C(1-0-1) Dst(5-2-2) Proven at the trip. Behind the placegetters last time. Each-way play Behind the placegetters last time. Wow!! What an observation the horse ran 4th (useless information) 5. 22318 Nesta (5) Stephen Blair-Edie Chris Johnson 55 (R74) C(9-0-4) Dst(4-1-0) Proven at the distance. Outside the dividends last time. A win would surprise. Outside the dividends last time. No kidding!! It ran 8th. No mention of the class drop from the NZ Cup though. 8. 75181 Madam De Soir (10) John Phillips Tina Comignaghi 54 (R69) C(12-3-2) Dst(12-2-0) Proven at the distance. Fresh up. Could surprise. Fresh Up...really ?? last raced on 11th November. 9. 68908 Nopele (6) Jo-Ann Gordon Gosen Jogoo 54 (R68) C(5-1-0) Dst(0) Will appreciate the drop in class. Out of the money last time. Looks held. Drop In Class? Going from an R74 to open class...class rise more like. Notorious barrier rogue but no mention of the barrier blanket on first time. 10. 89091 Beam Me Up Scotty (4) Anthony Burton Kin Kwo (2) 54 (R67) C(11-3-4) Dst(6-0-2) Close up at a big price last time. Place claims. So close up he won...big price?? try $12.60 11. 78008 Francis Drake (1) Maurice Forde Sanu Toolooa (3) 54 (R55) C(6-0-0) Dst(8-0-0) Unable to place last time. Roughie. Unable to place last time...actually unable to place in his last 26 starts! Just to reiterate this was in one race but it needs change because people depend on clear and accurate information.

  8. Sadly New Zealand is awash with idiot's that have no accountability when it comes to spending others money. Auckland council is another that spent hundreds of millions on an automated system for the ports. Government throw money away on consultants without achieving a thing. It's the new norm of how this country works. The TAB just took a little longer to catch on to ruining a great product that we once had to the lemon we now got

Their choices were poor, very poor, with both options having more negatives than positives.

  13. Ill give it more than 6 months but the decline in Harness is gaining momentum. Too many integrity issues and poor governance at most top tables, they cant see the wood from the trees. Even the Ozzies have worked out that they are better off backing NZ hounds than harness these days.

  15. Good easy money & damn great HOURLY pay rate for the required number of hours to be worked. Am surprised no one has questioned that and if it's an appropriate amount bearing in mind the fact we are in a Recession..

    Jim Marconi

Sad to hear of Jim's passing. From a small team he trained a number of very good horses through the 70's, 80's and early 90's including Taras Bulba, Ranchi Ruler, Cossack Prince and King Maruding. Thanks for the wonderful memories Jim.

    Rogerson

Whats happened to this bloke and his team? use to have some decent horses, and was a bit of a force. he seems to be pushing a large team of duds, and races the shit out of them i.e. saignon, aalalune, amongst others.just keeps backing them up. my memory recalls him in the 90's as being a bit more competitive and producing some decent horses with a decent strike rate. but from what i see now, he flogs them. i do like his horse All The Rage, hes got some ability this horse. it will be interesting to see how he places him

    RIP Barry Neville-White

Sad to learn of Barry’s passing and his funeral today. A good man who raced many horses including an Auckland Cup winner. Spent time giving his input as Chairman of the Auckland Racing Club. A very successful Businessman man, Barry was a very gracious person, a great family man and a good friend to all who knew him. Always very courteous and a great host. RIP Barry Neville-White

    RIP Barry Neville-White

I agree with everything Trump has written about Barry. We were co-directors on the TAB and I was very disappointed that Barry was not on the Racing Board that was formed following the disappearance of the TAB and the RIB. His racing knowledge, his commitment and his passion for the sport/industry could have done so much for the new RB. I well remember his excitement when the name of one of his latest horses was accepted - Auckland Blues. I believe he won over 100 races as an owner and I am sure that included one or two with the Mosgiel Andertons with whom he was good friends. R.I.P Barry

    When will they learn?

It's 2020. The TAB has been operating in our current technology environment for long enough. I'm asked by a mate who wins the Cup. Got no idea was my response so googled Melbourne Cup. I click on the first one in the list. The TAB comes up so I think to myself, well at least it's the NZ TAB's site. And guess what...this is what I get So what idiot in the TAB doesn't link google to the actual Melbourne Cup field? Tell me where you can see a direct link to where the Melbourne Cup field might be? Yes you could say that you push the Bet Now button, but what if I don't want to have a bet and just want to see what's in the field? Who ever is in charge of this one is a moron. It's the biggest day of racing for the non racing people and this exists?!!!?!!! 101 in online marketing I would have thought

  22. I must take issue with Disillusioned. I feel that Berri's comments are spot on. This is today's example of the TAB's ineptitude. What can we expect tomorrow.

Bryce’s best training win in NZ was the 1996 Maramarua Hunt Cup with Tui Town ridden by Eddie Lamb.
