"Harness Racing New Zealand (HRNZ) confirmed Mitchell Kerr had relinquished his licence and said it was not aware of any investigation by the RIU". This statement alone should have all licence holders concerned. The RIU have confirmed they've passed information on to police, yet the people in charge of our game are in the dark. HRNZ, have you never heard of damage control? Something/anything positive would help now, but all we get is.... ummm, we know nothing. DUMB F.....3 points

Come on HRNZ, leadership in these times would be a whole helluva lot better than ahhh dunno....gawdsakes as another posters nickname says 'We're Doomed'...... Cheers Iraklis2 points -
How the hell can NZHR not know if the RIU is investigating. Surely that is BS.2 points

I take your point Iraklis, but I didn't intend to intimate they follow precedent alone. Judges can and do use discretion. I just wish when using that discretion, they didn't give discounts to crims for things like, it's a first offence, a custodial sentence will prevent me playing sport overseas, or my Dad was a drunk & my Mum didn't love me.... Should have considered all of this before committing the offence!!!2 points

Am i missing something here or has the M Kerr post been removed. This chap who associates with Anderson is in whole heap of trouble. One of his previous owners was telling me the Feds are interviewing some of his owners next week. Others are talking civil action. One wonders what HRNZ and or RIU can do once he conveniently handed in his licenses and he is not alone with this type of behavior. Is it time for regs if they are not their already to purge the sport of all the baddies who run for cover2 points

Why are we wasting Sundays on Addington. Surely it is a day to take racing to the country. I'm afraid we are missing opportunities to promote our sport. The dates committee has gotten it horribly wrong here and we continue to head down the wrong track.1 point

Does HRNZ have a 'plan'? 1 year, 5 year, 10 year goals? Or are all the clubs just doing the best they can individually? (I have no clue as to how the racing side actually works)1 point

The trouble is we seem to take a age to get a verdict long after the offence has been committed . As for beating up females in time not so long ago they would be taken around the back and have your collar straightened if you get my drift , But then look at a few years ago that similar age guy smacked that police woman and as his father well know in wine industry has a lawyer that gets him off that now tells us where society has now gone. GUTLESS governments both National and labour1 point -

The trouble is hrnz for years have always let people off very lightly positive swabs and all sorts of other stuff get basically slapped with a wet bus ticket and pretty much left to carry on business as usual . We need our racing industry to be clean And to have a very tough stance on corruption and criminal activity , it should be that you get one chance and when you ruin that chance your gone from the game for good.1 point

7 stand for Saturday 's Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle and Champion Hurdler EPATANTE has eased from 8/15 to 4/6 in the light of support for SCEAU ROYAL who has come in from 6s to 4s. The latter is better known as a chaser and was fifth in the Champion Chase last year but he's not short of pace and loves decent ground. He won a handicap on his return and followed up in the Elite Hurdle at Wincanton three weeks ago. He shouldn't beat the Champion hurdler but he has his ground and the benefit of race fitness and if there's a day to catch her out, this might be it. Sunday sees a big day in Ireland with three Grade 1 races at Fairyhouse where the ground is soft. The Irish jumps season has a big Christmas meeting at Leopardstown and spring festivals at Fairyhouse and Punchestown with a big early February weekend at Leopardstown. Sunday is, if you like, the early season championship races and does a lot to set the tone for the big Christmas meeting. We'll have the final decs through tomorrow but 11 have been entered for the Royal Bond over 3200m for novice hurdlers. On paper it looks between three - both CASK WELL ad BALLYADAM have bee wide margin winners of maiden hurdlers while the mare SHEWEARSITWELL won a Grade 3 novice at Tipperary in October which looks slightly stronger form but now has to go up against the boys. The Drinmore is a Novice chase over 3200m and sees the second chase run of ENVOI ALLEN who won the Supreme Novices, the championship race at Cheltenham, in March and produced a thoroughly impressive debut display over the larger obstacles. On all form, he's impossible to oppose. Finally, we have the Hatton's Grace over 4000m for the hurdlers. HONEYSUCKLE won this last year and followed up in both the Irish Champion Hurdle and the Mares Hurdle at Cheltenham. Again, on all known form, she's unopposable. The lightly-raced SALDIER hasn't been seen since winning the Morgiana last year but we know he runs well fresh but he has it to do against the mare who is very good. Main news over here is the easing of Covid restrictions from next Wednesday and the likely return of spectators to racecourses. Courses in Tier 2 areas will be able to take up to 2000 spectators or 50% of capacity (whichever is lower) which will help a midweek meeting at Plumpton but won't mean much at Cheltenham. With courses liking to prioritise annual members and their guests, the actual numbers of tickets for the paying public look to be very limited and of course strict bio-security protocols will be in place. It's a start but that's all.1 point

It was publicised on the NZTR website for all to see. And the videos from the trials are up for everyone to see. The only interesting thing I noticed was the decent distance from the finishing post to the turn out of the straight. I would rather have seen a longer straight myself. I'm not a fan of short straights.1 point -

Ardern pledges to care 9% more by 2030 Danyl Mclauchlan | Contributing writer Satire Some observers are questioning whether there are sufficient Facebook livestreams to support the goal, writes chief caring correspondent Danyl Mclauchlan Jacinda Ardern has responded to a surge in house prices, concerns about carbon emissions and calls for action on child poverty by pledging to care more about these issues. The pledge comes after a week of harsh criticism and opposition attacks, and in response to them Ardern has promised to drastically raise the already high levels at which she cares. The move has delighted her supporters and international admirers, with US vice-president-elect Kamala Harris liking Ardern’s announcement on Instagram, while calls for the prime minister to receive a Nobel Peace Prize have intensified. But critics and commentators have raised doubts about the new caring, wondering whether the promised new levels of care are credible, and even questioning whether the government should solve problems in addition to caring about them. Details about the increased caring are yet to be revealed but experts predict it will be in line with the prime minister’s previous track record of looking thoughtful and sad whenever questioned about an issue in front of media, and will consist of furrowed brows, worried frowns, and empathic nodding. The furrowing, frowning and nodding, which Treasury refers to as F2N, will increase by one percentage point a year, aggregating each year to an astonishing 9% increase in Net Prime Ministerial Caring, or NPMC, by the end of the decade. Some economists and political commentators question whether these levels of care are sustainable, predicting that Ardern will risk straining her neck and run out of adorable children to do Facebook livestreams with long before she reaches her new goals, while others have suggested Ardern’s majority government should do actual things to reduce house prices and carbon emissions and improve the lives of children, a suggestion Ardern has dismissed as anti-caring. ‘This will be the kind and compassionate caring that New Zealanders expect from their government,” a statement from Ardern’s office read. “As prime minister for all New Zealanders I will put caring at the heart of everything I do. I make no apologies for that.” In her post-cabinet press conference, the prime minister would not be drawn on whether she would care passionately about child poverty but deeply about climate change, or the reverse. The adverb she would use to care about housing affordability was still being decided. “Intensely” and “strongly” are rumoured to be options and Ardern refused to rule them out, declaring, “I’m leaving every option on the table. I will choose a word ending in ly. That is my commitment to you.” Further details about the caring will be determined by a task force, and the State Services Commission has formed a working group to determine the terms of enquiry for the interdepartmental agency that will establish the task force. Ardern would not be drawn on whether climate, housing and child poverty were challenges, crises or disasters, and in response to questions about their priorities she explained that each of them was her highest priority. “Let me be clear. Child poverty is the reason I became a politician. And climate is the greatest problem facing the world, while housing touches every whānau. So in answer to the question of which I care about more, my answer is: be kind to one other.”1 point
