    R.I.P Wally O'Hearn

With the recent sad news of the passing of respected racing journalist Wally O'Hearn I thought I'd pass on funeral details below for race cafe members wishing to attend his service. A top bloke who will be sadly missed by his peers. My sincere condolences to all of the O'Hearn family and Wally's loved ones. Rest in peace Wally. O'HEARN, Wally Robert: Peacefully on 14 November aged 61, dearly loved husband of Vanessa, father of David & Karl, Loved father-in-law of Mel and loved Grandfather of Taylah, Charlee and Max. Resting now with all the great memories he created and celebrated. His race has been run and he fought right to the line, but hoping to enjoy more success as an owner. A service will be held for Wally on Thursday 19 November at the Matamata Racecourse SH 27, Matamata at 1.00pm. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Cancer Society. Broadway Funeral Homes, Matamata. https://loveracing.nz/News/31736/Vale-Wally-OHearn.aspx

    Ascot Park,Wednesday.

Thought it was an tidy effort from acekingsuited, drew wide and worked hard the trip, and only swamped late, like to see him with a better draw, interesting enough I saw this horse sold at the yearling sales some years ago, we bought one at the same sales, which has yet to make the races.

  4. Iraklis when the raid happened and it made the front page and 6 o’clock news, which continued for a while, the Serious Crime Unit (Anderson ?) chief said they had all the evidence they needed and it was an open and shut case(s). He said /implied all the matters/cases would be finished very quickly as the evidence was overwhelming and watertight! No cases proven , most (likely all re race fixing ) dismissed , weapon made the front page which was a toy and many other exaggerations so tell me why? A disgraceful chapter for the RIU & NZPolice who between them have hugely damaged a great sport for no reason but by listening to a jealous small few who seem to not recognise in sport there are trainers/coaches and players/drivers a lot better than others. The average and below will never have a UDR above 0.125 but they say the top are cheating . They are not cheating they are just far better than most of the others. So it does sound right the RIU & Police totally stuffed up.

  5. Not a lot to report up here currently. It's been confirmed TARNAWA will stay in training next year and Dermot Weld has said the Arc will be her main objective. Flat racing continues up here on the All-Weather and last Saturday at Lingfield DUBAI WARRIOR returned with a smooth victory in the Churchill Stakes. I imagine his target will be the Winter Derby once again though I just wonder if there will be any interest in a trip to Meydan once the Carnival starts in January. The Listed sprint went to GOOD REPORT who has won his last four on artificial surfaces and made good use of a low draw and a good early break. The Japan Cup is on November 29th and the only European runner is WAY TO PARIS. He won the Ganay earlier in the season beating SOTTSASS but was beaten a long way in the Arc. All the evidence suggests he'll enjoy the firm ground in Tokyo but is he likely to be good enough against the locals? I'd be surprised. If there's any interest I'll report on the top jump races in the UK and Ireland now the winter season is underway. This weekend we have the first Grade 1 of the British season, the Betfair Chase over 4800m at Haydock. The ground is currently Soft but only five have been entered. On paper it looks between the three who ran in the Gold Cup at Cheltenham in March. LOSTINTRANSLATION bat BRISTOL DE MAI in this last year but ran a shocker in the King George at Kempton before returning to finish third at Cheltenham (BRISTOL DE MAI well held in eighth). LOSTINTRANSLATION seems more effective going left handed and BRISTOL DE MAI will do well to reverse places. CLAN DES OBEAUX won the King George but he enjoys sharp tracks and Cheltenham just isn't for him. He was well beaten in the Betfair in 2018 but he's improved since. We've had a couple of big races in Ireland - the Champion Chase at Down Royal went to THE STORYTELLER who just held off CHRIS'S DREAM (tenth in the Gold Cup). Over the hurdles, ABRACADABRAS won the Morgiana at Punchestown but we won't see the main British contenders until the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle at the end of the month.

    Trump written off

The "ones of the righteous mind" fighting this losing rebellious corruption/fraud battle, on behalf of Donald Trump should heed your bible 6xes. Ezekiel 12:2 "Son of man, you dwell in the midst of a rebellious house who have eyes, but see not, who have ears, but hear not, for they are a rebellious house." Put that in your biblical quotation book and smoke it.

  8. I can get form for dogs across australia and dogs today at Manawatu. But as an effort by HRNZ to keep turnover as low as possible to show that Central District HR should be eliminated .... there is no picks or comments at all. A DISGRACE FOR HARNESS RACING !!! hOPEFULLY THE tab WILL TAKEBETS ON THE 9 COMPETITIVE RACES.

  11. Geezuz I couldn't even get the Police to track and nab a bloody home invader even when I had proof, and then found the bugga lurkin about the streets afterwards, myself (I was the one who got warned and told to take me steel pipe and go home, and yes the mongrel got a few lumps) however in the time it took to get back up there, he got away.....so how the hell whomever it was got this sort of all in action from police and all, must of had some kind of story to tell for the shit that was caused, and the way it broke out all over re the media etc; then for now all this time later nuthin, nada, nix.....it aint right, police dont just act on a whole bunch of he said, she said, innuendo, and gossip; it just don't sound right, none of it, even if one of em in the RIU was ex copper..... Cheers Iraklis

Obviously not all clubs in Canterbury are reading the same chapter and verse. This is why there is so much tension and anomosity between clubs in Canterbury. They need to take a leaf out of the Southern Harness setup. One starter for all clubs. Oh no they can't because they do not realise what unity is all about.

  15. Dont be fooled by the restricted punters stories. No bookie in the world wants the snipers who continually win. That's why i mentioned GBM in terms of codes payouts. As these restricted punters reduce GBM the codes should be applauding the new TAB strategy. You can get set for reasonable amounts on any harness race if your smart. I'm picking that with AS team going into sabbatical a lot of the bigger punters wont bother with harness as their strike rate encouraged smart punters to unload knowing they were usually betting on the best prepared and driven. Their UDR certainly backs those points up

Laureate another 2018 breeding syndicate 625k yearling , gelding 8 runs for no wins . Three geldings , total cost 2.4 million , 2 wins out of 34 races and about 96 k in prize money. Not the best breeding syndicate . On plus side Probabeel came out same sale for 380 k, there were two 900k fillies not much chop though . Expensive business , glad I am poor so don't have that stress .

  18. Perhaps horse betting decline is directly related to reduction of exposure - No free TV, No Radio, Damn near no newspaper coverage, No Best Bets type publications, etc. etc. etc. You can't make an omelette without eggs!

Don't worry about Blossom Lady. She's either a woman with periodic issues, a cross dresser or a male with certain functional issues. I had a look at the data in respect of her posts. Makes interesting analysis. As an exercise I compared Blossom Lady's data with my own posts (just as a comparison as I'm the most familiar with my strange foibiles) . So here are the results: Reactions Blossom Lady 45 15 (33%) 11 (11%) 31 (31%) 3 (6%) 8 (17%) Berri 1459 1222 (84%) 202 (13%) 19 (1.3%) 6 (0.4%) 10 (0.6%) Chris 693 996 (144%) 71 ( 10%) 17 (2.5%) 11 (0.8%) 2 ( 0.2%) So here is the data....for all to see. ....23% of Blossom Lady's post draw a negative reaction. Chris has 1.0%. Do I need to say anymore. Of real interest is that as a proportion Chris induces more positive responses per reaction to his posts than his posts. Says something about the consensus opinion of Chris than of Blossom Lady.

Thing is Pam Ron Carter was a gentleman who treated eveyone with respect unike the sacked Lamb who was just the opposite. What is worrying Lamb maybe retained by some clubs especially over xmas when the "good" starters will be required for the better meets. The other worry is he is still a stipe with scores to settle. Best result would be a total "move on" out of the sport!

Chase is back in nz. Had three screws put in cracked tassel bone in Sydney. Returned to rehab at Margaret Park Matamata. Started Chase walking on treadmill but still showed signs of lameness so the screws were removed 3 weeks ago.
