Once again I am digging deep to find double digit divvies to have a dabble with our dollars today.ICONOCLASM will have the cosiest run to cause an upset at sandown R5.ST COVETS SPIRIT has run some excellent 2nds and 3rds against much better opposition newc R4 .TACTICAL ADVANTAGE last chance for this one but he ran 2nd in this race LY after winning the start before, just needs a cozy run as he has a very good but very short sprint.

Indeed Cubes, Great to catch up.....your horse will win races ,showed a fair bit of lick ,lets say it down in worst part of track ! Sure is something unique/special about Cup week in Garden City which needs to be retained . Certainly less current North Island horses than in past but racing folk from all across NZ from all denominations ....administrators from all over , old and new trainers all there. Old Double All Blacks , NZ Cricket captains and trainers/ jockeys and a real mixing of all codes ....they even had a kids Kart Harness race won by Waikato's Kate Coppins. Spotted some of my old fav jockeys MJ Skelton and DNHadfield. Southland horses very competitive ,great to see....shame that Otago area hardly represented ,unlike the past. Sure the public grandstand not a good look , was so good viewing in the past but the Main stand and temporary areas such vibrant areas .....and plenty of grass areas still. Cant understand how Kiwi Ida raced so poorly and fell over backwards at the Stewards quinella but little to groan about. I guess its the people that make it......a great week not to be missed. Hope to catch up again Cubes , hoped you might pick me up as I hitch hiked to Ashburton trots but maybe unlike me you don't bat for both teams ! Cup Week in Garden City .....not to be missed !

Would not have thought so Iraklis. He was at all times employed by the clubs, in this instance NZMTC. When i rang Wednesday morning to confirm that with club official it was obvious that they were far from happy with what had occurred, The Club deserves to be applauded for sacking him as quickly as they did The next issues where Lamb is concerned is , will other clubs give him the same treatment? and as an RIU official will he have issues with certain industry participants who have spoken out against him, both lately and in the past?

I never said that, what I am saying is the whole combination of things leads to disarray. There are many elements that are just left alone, ignored, or inconsistently dealt with. Certain factions use the inconsistencies to their advantage knowing that repercussions are a wet bus ticket unless the uproar is so loud it can't be ignored. But most of the time its bury the head in the sand syndrome. And we all know that don't we.

We obviously have pro and anti All Stars. The real point of the debate is that some horses got favours at the start and others were badly hindered due to a very poor exhibition by the starter, who unfortunately has a history of poor technique especially in major races. Next time it could be All Stars horses given a disservice but this not the point. HRNZ must see this and by not reacting shows incompetence on their part. An enquiry into both the starting of the race and also into why the race officials did not open an investigation with the JCA into the possibility of declaring non runner(s) must surely be undertaken

Much like the start in the NZ Cup, Inca is one of the sports biggest embarrassment. By the time the call comes to end the matter - next March - it will be 3 years of discrimination and vendetta against the sport.

Just a repeat of the same ol.....Paul Moroney and I were selling them to him as quickly as we could. The Fay Ritchwhite partnerships were a blessing for NZ. When you look at our status as producers, the imports helped make us what we are. Biggest example of this was Zabeel....by Sir Tristram out of a Nureyev daughter of Detroit. Nureyev rated 130, Detroit 128. Octagnonal by Zabeel out of a daughter of Habiti (rated 129). Compare that to Embellish (rated 104) covering Avantage (rated 100). The results of the Australian spring races just reinforce the entire position. How can the UK second tier horses be so dominant when they are not the best over there? All of that was franked in the US yesterday. The European horses cleaned up. Moroney and I saw it in the early 80's. Waverley Star and Eastern Joy had just hit the scene. Both out of European imports. We're not competitive anymore because we've failed to upgrade and follow the science, bench marking and the statistics. And al the while we let ourselves down because we can't properly frank our form. Good to see one of the NZTR board choices is purportedly IT savvy. We need it badly to really show where we are positioned.
