  2. Great day for Mark and his team. Pinhooked and raised Gytrash , 3rd in the Everest . Foaled and raised Verry Elleegant. --now 6 Group Ones. Must be something in the South Taranaki soil to go along with the good horsemanship.

    Laugh or Cry?

You don't know whether to laugh or cry at our TAB sometimes. Love the form comments for the Everest. Trekking: down in class Bivouac: easier here Gytrash: back in easier class Behemoth: drops in grade. I suppose they are the obvious first four since they are all meeting much easier company than their last starts.

  9. And this is why Nathan is one of the best drivers in the country, and you're .... well .... just another armchair expert! The horse was driven in EXACTLY the same manner it has been successfully driven in the past. On this occasion however she had to come from further back running faster times than she'd ever had to run in the past. Neither horse nor driver could have done any better on the day. Don't give up your day day JJ!

The best field for a sprint race this year in Australia and the TAB form person writes this sh*t TREKKING - down in class CLASSIQUE LEGEND - class drop helps BEHEMOTH - drop in grade BIVOUAC - easier here GYTRASH - back in easier grade Who will find this easier ???

  11. Don’t give upon Warning just yet HD. Freedman did say “they didn’t want to gut the horse” with a tough run in the CC as the MC was the target. Flemington suits much better and if it rains 25/1 will look very tempting.

The Caulfield Cup was, as usual, an exciting contest and plenty to consider. The ground was slower than I had expected. VERRY ELLEEGANT is clearly a very good mare and in the end she did this well but I can't help but think ANTHONY VAN DYCK would have given her a real race from a better draw. Bowman did his level best with the cards he was dealt but he must have forfeited so much ground running wide especially into the straight but he came home very strongly and giving 8 lbs to the winner isn't a task many horses would be able to take on. Over a further 800m, who knows? PRINCE OF ARRAN ran a huge eye-catching trial for the Melbourne Cup coming home fourth having been out the back much of the way. He'll always be vulnerable to a speed horse but he's likely to be close again in the big one. FINCHE is one I'd like to have a look at if the Flemington turf was quick. On this evidence, the likes of BUCKHURST, TRUE SELF and DASHING WILLOUGHBY just aren't good enough. As for the Everest, a scintillating performance by CLASSIQUE LEGEND who looks a seriously good horse. Could they be tempted to come to Ascot next summer?

Quite loudly I must say. Nats appear to have imploded. They claim Nats voting for Labour to keep Greens out. I find that hard to believe. But aaah it’s a great story

The comments aren't meant for the horses listed because the comments are for the wrong race. It's a data error.

How good was Les when asked if it was his fave horse and said “no, that has to be Hot Danish. My wife was dying of cancer and every time Hot Danish won, it gave my wife a huge lift”. Classic stuff.

Yeh Good theatre. He knew it would win.He also thought it would win last year. No luck last year but today he had no interruptions. Seems like a lifetime ago since Les trained the Melbourne Cup winner. One of the old brigade.Good luck to him.

  21. Can I redo my picks, now I have seen how Hastings, Caulfield and Randwick are running ?

  22. Good luck with your picks, this thread overall has thrown up quite a few good picks and my original $100 is now $500 "proving" that value can be found by a bit of study, our collective picks are beating the market and I have backed a few of the others for a wee bit more profit after checking them out

  23. Yes I noticed that and was considered rejecting them, however, as the 1st race isnt until 4pm they havent gotten any advantage as such because only earlier races have been at Hastings to give them an insight as to how the track was playing before placing their picks. As I now have an idea how many people have entered the comp it gives a better understanding how much work is needed to enter in all their entries so next week I will be "closing" the comp a lot closer to the start time of the first comp race.

While we wait with baited breath for the election results, I wonder how many of the “sheep” actually thought about the achievements of this Government rather than blindly falling for this mystical persona that has been so well manufactured by the fawning NZ Press...?? The Covid 19 pandemic and the Christchurch Mosque attack were manna from heaven for Ardern. Without them, she would have been judged much differently in my view....and this election would also have been quite different... We’ll have to wait and see.....another few years of Labour/Greens torment ? will Winston rise again ? ACT on the charge ? Collins on borrowed time...? So many questions......

I understand a Kate MacDonald who is involved with DEDI ( Digital Economic Data...) has a role with WEF...Remember the Claire Curran fiasco? At the end of the day, the lot of them must be held to account for misleading the public and failing to perform the roles they are paid to with Integrity & transparency. To have "scaremongered" the ordinary public that a so called deadly infectious disease was going to kill over 30,000 people of New Zealand & compare it with the Bulbonic Plaque & 1918/19 Epidemic without due diligence and adherence to New Zealand & International Law is negligent. How Could anyone be so brain dead to not factor into account that we have motor vehicles & transport that they never had in those earlier eras, and a White Cross/ Southern Cross/ Public & Private Hospitals all over the joint, a vast number of Health care workers amongst other advantages? How could anyone be so lacking in education and familiar with what actually happened in earlier epidemics & pandemics that they didn't lockdown borders as there are pre-existing Laws in place to protect both infectious & healthy people in far less barbaric ways. Siouxsie Wiles has a long history of writing Open Letters to people who she thinks should listen to and do as she says to fulfil her dream of been an Infectious Disease expert... Look up her one from 2016 era to Ministry of Health about collecting data she had no lawful rights to be asking for.... Some Departments & Health providers are rightly so at arms length from each other. We all have the lawful right to Data Protection which she very clearly fails to comprehend. The failure to perform contracted roles is the first thing whoever gets elected into Parliament must be addressed in Courts of Laws.

@Baz (NZ) @mikenz I believe back in the day it wasn't that unusual for that to happen with horse & rider. It's times like this that it would be great to have the likes of Trevor McKee & Norm Holland about to ask as I recall some of their great recollection of such occurrences. Best place to look is probably in The National library archives where there's a wealth of Racing related stories... Maybe Raceform editorial staff can do some investigating & follow up article when it's happened before with sone photos... Meanwhile, is he going to be a good place bet? Which race do you think Watch this Space will race at? I'm picking Hastings.
