    Wot's TPL

Had a friend that used to keep onions beside his TV, I asked him if it improved the reception, he said no, it was to go with all the tripe that was on, fair enough I guess.

    Get on the Board

Surely clubs must be represented at the board. This application appears to be confusing management with governance. The skills should be with those running the show and control with the more traditional owners of NZTR i.e. the clubs and participants. Seems like just another recipe for a hijack.

    Wot's TPL

WTF is TPL. That's what I thought. Twenty or so years ago I was involved with the Fellowship to Understand Christian Knowledge. I left when people started using the acronym. When I left they called me a Caring Understanding Nineties Type. I hate abbreviations.

    This is a must watch

This should be under the heading “MAIN STREET CAFE”, where Berri should have posted it in the first place. Perhaps the Administrator could move it?

  5. Breeder. Thanks for the data. I see where I went wrong and I apologise. I misunderstood the data set presented around the rolling seven day average. You have to be careful about comparing apples with apples and coming up with oranges. I note the original video author had a note on the right side of the chart saying that the methodology had changed mid-graph, which makes me wonder whether he was doing the same. There is so much misinformation out there that you need a stats degree to disseminate the wheat from the chaff. I'm all for asking questions of the relevant authorities. Covid-19 seems to be posing the question of nations - which do you value more - human life or money? Striking the balance between the two is fundamental to the decisions being made and those decisions vary greatly between countries. History will judge who got it right no doubt. At the end of the day you don't have an economy if the death rate rises to such an extent that people are scared to go out and workers are dying in their millions, as could happen if it keeps morphing, as the epidemiologists are saying. Therein lies the problem with finding a vaccine too if the virus is ever-changing. It's not the Spanish Flu yet or The Great Depression but many governments are trying to find that balance between keeping their populations safe and economies from tanking and it;s a very fine line indeed. You can't put a price on life. But all that aside we share a common love of racing obviously and personally, call me old-fashioned if you like - but when I come to the Race Cafe I like to discuss racing. It's not called Politics Cafe, Conspiracy Cafe or Covid-19 Cafe. Maybe you and Berri could get your heads together and invent some of those if you feel so strongly about this stuff and good luck to you with that. When I saw The "must watch" video I thought it might be a triple dead-heat or something related to racing, not leading down this rabbit hole. That was my first mistake. But no one "needs to be abused" on this site as you contend even if they get something wrong. That's schoolyard bully stuff - find some manners the pair of you. The fact that the administrators no longer censure this sort of abuse just goes to show why people are switching off this site. Maybe they've given up too. If you have something to say then present the facts and the source for them and let people make up their own minds rather than trying to ram off-subject topics down people's throats. And talk about a contradiction - if you value facts so much how could you post that nonsense peddled by the off-guardian website? I see they are trying to shoot the messenger (The New York Times) for outing Trump for tax evasion. That gives you a line on their credibility. So perhaps we can admit that we both made mistakes and move on - back to racing perhaps?

  6. A huge week up here as we move towards Arc Weekend in Paris. Heavy rain has turned the ground Very Soft and has caused some anxiety among fans of LOVE for whom slow ground is an unknown and whose action, many think, is ideally suited to decent ground. ENABLE, we know, goes on soft turf and as much she is now 6/4 favourite for the big race on Sunday. In terms of the French races, it's a two-day meeting and on Saturday we have two Group 1 races - the Royallieu over 2800m for the staying fillies and mares and the Cadran over 4000m for the real stayers. There are three supporting Group 2 events, the Dollar, Chaudenay and the Daniel Wildenstein. Sunday has six Group 1 races making it the best single day's racing in Europe of the year. Aside from the Arc, we have the Lagardere and the Marcel Boussac for the juveniles, the Opera for the fillies and mares, the Abbaye for the sprinters and the Foret for the 1400m horses. The running order is to be confirmed and I'll be updating through the week as we approach the big weekend.

  7. Show a little kindness , this is what happens when a government has no Idea how to actually generate money , borrow and give away isn't going to last and the direction of much the giveaway is politically motivated . Youth cancer unit at new Christchurch hospital won't open due to 'financial constraints . A teenage cancer survivor says a decision not to fund a dedicated unit for youth is “gut-wrenching” and shows the health care of young people is not valued . An adolescents and young adults (AYA) unit for people aged 12-25 years-old will sit empty when the new Christchurch Hospital Hagley building opens later this year due to "financial constraints”, Canterbury District Health Board acting chief executive Peter Bramley said. Paediatric oncologist Tristan Pettit said research showed treating people aged 15-24 in age-appropriate environments was significant for patient experience and survival rates. JUST THE BEGUINNING , how's the $70 million for racing going and the very long list of other GIVEAWAYS , remind me how many BILLIONS has been given away and was it $260million for rugby .

    Jacinda Ardern

By Martyn Bradbury - September 24, 2020, EXTRACTS Sigh – Jacinda wades into free speech debate – this will end badly ACT leader David Seymour fears for freedom of expression after Jacinda Ardern confirmed plans to beef up hate speech laws if Labour is re-elected to power. Ardern was asked at the site about progress on updated hate speech laws, after the Government fast-tracked a review of hate speech legislation in the wake of the terror attack, which was fuelled by anti-Muslim sentiment. Ardern said she couldn’t understand why there would be resistance from other political parties. “I don’t see why there should be, and so that’s probably a question for every political party, but that’s certainly our view and that’s the view that I’m putting forward.” The Left should champion free speech – not repress and deplatform it! Jacinda feels that no one would have a problem with expanding hate speech laws to include religion – really? I love mocking religion, if you believe in a magical invisible flying wizard, I get to mock that because it’s fucking stupid!!! Would I breach the hate speech laws for mocking someone who believes in a magical invisible flying wizard? Would Monty Python’s Life of Brian be banned? Why can’t I hate religion? Why can’t I see it as a terribly regressive form of control over other people? Can I criticise the fanatics at Gloriavale or is that going to be illegal? A good read , MORE STUPIDTY FROM comrade cindy

    Jacinda Ardern

Gold , really hedley that's well overdone , yes I will vote Nat but not many years ago I voted L . The result of the first debate and the opinion of the majority was Judith WON EASILY that's not just my opinion . I was expecting cindy to just smile be kind and win and I'm sure that's what she was expecting but it seems when it comes to detail and policy she is bereft knowledge and ideas . Covid is the only reason she is up in the polls , it's certainly not because she has improved peoples lives , in fact the opposite has happened . The 2nd debate will be crucial for both , another performance like that from cindy and the rot will well and truly set in , she will be under enormous pressure , let's see what happens .
