  1. Interestingly, Peter V’Landys has been in charge of the NRL for how long now? 6 months? Navigated his way thru Corvid-19 and “told” the State Govts when they would start the comp, and his latest is that he is going to cut “$100m” from Admin Costs with “no loss of services! “How good is that? Compare that to NZ Racing Administration....

crustyngrizzly Exchequer raced 98 times for 10 wins and $126,295. Ray trained him for his first 6 wins then he was sent South to Garth Jackson who won 4 with him including the Greymouth Cup and the Kumara Nuggets.

My other half stopped betting on his TAB account when he couldn't get "registered". Our pc camera wasn't up to scratch and the 3 TAB outlets he went to couldn't do it. The silly thing was he was so pissed off by the time he got the 3rd rejection he withdrew most money he had in his account. No problem do that with same info needed for registering!

    80's Racing

I have the dubious distinction of owning the first horse to be put down at Ruakaka, March 1979. An example of how numbers have changed. A division race, drew #1, he was 5th on the ballot yet got a start. I was a sharemilker at Cambridge so wasn't there and radio commentary was scratchy. Story was that it was just a matter of who would fill the minors when he rolled in at the turn, bumped the rail and broke a blood vessell in his shoulder. Curtains. You haven't been in racing until you've had all the ups and downs. All part of the game.

Trump will destroy the Demonrats before the election IMO BLM will be shown to be a domestic terror organisation for the benefit of the dems. Covid will be exposed as a scam. Hydroxy will be shown as the cure. Biden and Harris will both be exposed for their crimes and their replacements will step in. Indictments from Durham will start flowing out and Obamagate will be in full swing. The Dem governors of the rioting cities will ask Trump to stop the violence and it will cease in one day. Big Pharma and the MSM will be further exposed for their part in Covid. Plus lots more Enjoy the show

  17. Rev Super Comet won 7 races from 47 starts. His only win at Te Rapa was on debut on the 25/3/81 ridden by Grant Cooksley. He was 2/2 in the betting and paid $4.50 and $1.70. The race was over 1200m not 1600m. Later in his career he was trained by Harvey Wadham and Shane Laming.

  19. And GUB, some of our best jockeys rode for Ray Cleaver. Jockeys that rode Elmar were: Earl Harrison, Warwick Robinson, Chris McNab Brian York,Maurice Campbell and maybe Shane Dye . Ray Cleaver's mum and dad Fred and Ngaire ? retired to a home unit near us in the 1980's . Ray was a tough bastard but looked after his mum and dad and his children. And Sue. Ray told me one day that Joe Bromby and Alan Jones were nearly on his level when it came to being "astute Trainers ". Ray Clever's carefully planned coup with SUPER COMET at TeRapa and the "false start" earned Ray lots of mana ,Kudos. It does not compare to that of Alan Jones and Torbek /Shady Deal . But It came very close. Ray knew what times the Trains would hoot on the Main trunk Line . The Te Rapa Mile start is just 20 metres from the railway line. Apparently Mr George Lawson and his stipes spent days foraging for a Kids Hand held Hooter. Tony Enting may have helped with the searching. s hand held Hooter. Starter Mr Fred Hain did not call a false start. Most riders heard a hooter. Or a Train Hoot. Not Super Comet's rider.Kicked hard from barriers and kept going. I was on the main Side on Video Camera from the tower that day. Jim Lambert Judge. Stipes on floor below. Good on You Ray Cleaver.

  20. Ray was a successful apprentice winning 55 races. His first win was on Le Plus at Awapuni on the 30/4/66. Four days later he rode a double at Marton on Chatty Girl and Le Plus.

  21. pole Elmar raced 63 times for 9 wins. Dave O’ Sullivan trained her initially but Ray Cleaver trained her at four onwards. For him she won a Dulcie Stakes at Te Rapa and a Kings Plate and Clifford Plate at Ellerslie.

  22. Rubisaki sure put in a bad run but I would forgive that run. Many top horses get rolled when they visit Caulfield for the first time. Kingston Town got beaten at his first 2 starts at Caulfield. It can bring them undone - unlike The Valley where first timers seem to handle it ok, especially now with the cambering on the turn. But Caulfield? Forgive Rubisaki that one and id also forgive Pretty Brazen. My eye catching runs from Sat were Glenfiddich ( in first four all way and was very strong through the line) and Cascadian. Also thought Tagaloa was a beauty - I may be wrong but to my eye, Michael Walker seemed to ease up on the vigour 2 strides before the line. I was thinking he thought he had the race won. Maybe Tagaloa had come to the end of its run?

  31. Ray Cleaver was the son of jockey Fred Cleaver. He was apprenticed to Don Grubb at Feilding and George Greene at Takanini before moving to Cambridge. Volare was another good horse he trained there. He trained many good horses at Cranbourne including Honest Politician and Dot Com. His best most recent runner was the Don Eduardo gelding Donarchie the winner of 8 from 74 starts and $187,193.

I’ve been saying it for a couple of years now. Trump will win in Nov. not because I love or hate him. There are many reasons but the first one is a lack of Opposition in The Democrat candidates. A Biden/Harris team is going to switch focus to Harris and I doubt the average American will cop her. Then there’s law and order. The chaos in Democrat led states is going to piss off the average American. Then there’s Sleepy Joe. Need I say more? Trump will win. I can’t wait to see crazy Nancy‘s face at the inauguration ceremony. Trump creates another first! An impeached President wins another term! Only in America.

Large freedom march today in Auckland. Sensible people standing up against the draconian Covid laws and Kiwis freedoms. The momentum is gathering and is happening world wide. Don't expect the your corrupt news to cover it though. These people are not voting for the main parties. I predicted long ago a vaccuum will be ctreated for an emerging party to fill.

@tripple alliance Why shouldn't those who don't have a a) a cough, b) fever, c) pneumonia or d) sneezes attend the races at Avondale? Now abt that Contact Tracing app & methods they are pushing, look up Ayesha Verrall's Contact Tracing Report online dated 10 April 2020. Note the dates & places where "Covid" was referenced to been in, in that report , marry it up when the Andrew Borrowdale JR section relating to the people of New Zealand had the BORA ( Bill of Rights Act breached... Do as one pleases not as one says.

    TAB you CNUTS!!

Hi Mikenz. This is the problem, we think it is ok to accept service like this. There are two banks that are almost instant. How about we can deposit money instantly with no charge? Like all other competitors offer. Sometimes you get a tip five mins before the race (mug betting and tab should love you for it) The tab want us to use them and expect us to also take a shit service. We are the customer. The one that punts, the one that pays training fees so they can have a market to offer punters.

    1. - Races can only be as good as the stock available. Too many being exported means lowering of quality. 2. - Yes, but only in the top class races. But what can you do - the leading owners are always (mainly) going to be able afford the best bred and they send them to the stable with results. Mr Joe Average can't afford the cost of such stock, or the cost of racing them. 3. - Overkill of racing of stock unknown to the enthusiast from areas most haven't heard of. There are fans who don't care and will bet on anything and there are fans that only bet of what they know. I really think the bean counters have to view the overall situation and decide whether losing audience through disinterest is of consequence or not. 4. - Radio simply compulsory. In fact I would think it by far the main culprit in the downfall of the falling take. I think most of the lost dollar is still being invested - Lotto testament to that.
