  1. Wow ! The man and the author of above piece obviously well pleased with the changes in and progress of the NZ Racing Industry. Obviously there has been a lot of changes and his experience in governance been of use. However there appears to be a HUGE credibility gap between what the above suggests , our closeness to prosperity etc and the actual state of NZ racing / TAB / wagering etc and the fact it was recently bailed out by the Guvmint and the general consensus of many in the Industry who fear for their livelihoods. I'm sure the experts and critics on here will provide us a balance fairly quickly.

The production was very slick, Donald J Trump will go down as the greatest President of all time. Anyone that can endure the malicious scandals perpetrated by the Democrat's for 4 years is an absolute genius.

    TAB you CNUTS!!

Hi Mikenz. This is the problem, we think it is ok to accept service like this. There are two banks that are almost instant. How about we can deposit money instantly with no charge? Like all other competitors offer. Sometimes you get a tip five mins before the race (mug betting and tab should love you for it) The tab want us to use them and expect us to also take a shit service. We are the customer. The one that punts, the one that pays training fees so they can have a market to offer punters.

  5. Just watched the last part of Super Dons big event , a winning strong speech and the music was all class . I make a point of switching to cnn for comments , they are Trumps biggest critics and hate him with a passion , they are now going into desperation and were the first to admit the polls will close even quicker than they already were . Don't you love the rioters , I bet Trump does and the failure of democrat city leaders to control the mess , all great stuff for Trump . TRUMP WINS , it's that simple

It's impossible to debate with someone who believes things are 'rigged', everyone is telling lies and every one is corrupt (except those who you support). Taking this stance stifles any serious debate.

Yep the policy is nuts. Makes no sense - but they seem determined to limit access to racing in so many ways....

  8. NZTR Chairman Dr Alan Jackson has today signaled his intention to retire from the Board at the AGM on 17 November. A “change chair” who presided over a period of significant upheaval, Dr Jackson brought the benefit of more than 30 years of international business experience across a wide spectrum of industries and organizations to the role. Under his chairmanship he guided the industry through the introduction of the Health & Safety in the Workplace Act; saw through the progression of the Messara Review and the introduction of the Racing Industry Act 2020; the development of a Venue Plan for thoroughbred racing and finally charted the difficulties raised by Covid-19 given NZTR entering in a sound financial position. Among the achievements ticked off during his time in the chair were the introduction of gold standard Welfare Guidelines; trainer/owner reforms placing that relationship on a professional footing: increased alignment with Racing Australia; all-weather tracks and also delivering stake increases which included lifting the minimum to $10,000. Throughout his time leading the NZTR Board Dr Jackson has been a strong advocate for the modernization of the wagering business in NZ and the full development of the racefields opportunities. His grasp and understanding of the wagering and media landscape has been honed over decades of experience within the racing industry across three countries. He promises to continue to push for increased returns to the New Zealand industry through joint venturing/partnering with an international wagering operator within the arrangements outlined in the new Act. “I am proud of the work which has been undertaken by the NZTR Board over the last 5 years. There is now a sound foundation on which we can begin to reshape the industry to provide those additional revenues required for its prosperity, the journey is nearly in the home straight” Dr Jackson said. Dr Jackson joined the NZTR Board in 2015, having previously served as a founding Director of the New Zealand Racing Board from 2003-2006, and again in 2012-13 as Chairman. The Members’ Council will incorporate seeking a replacement to fill the vacancy left by Dr Jackson’s retirement as part of the selection process around other rotating and retiring directors.

  10. A few snippets from up here this evening. Spectators are set to return to a racecourse for the 4-day St Leger meeting at Doncaster next month. 3,240 will be allowed on day one and 6,000 on the other three days. The local Mayor has protested but the racecourse owners, ARC (Arena Racing Company), are keen to proceed (understandably). Tickets range from £25 to £60 and racegoers will be confined to an alloted area for the afternoon within which masks will be mandatory indoors and no food and drink will be allowed in to the course. I imagine they'll get plenty of takers though it's not for me and whether, compared with a normal Leger day, it will have any atmosphere remains to be seen but no doubt it will be hailed as a "triumph" by the uncritical racing media. As for on track action, seven go in Sunday's Group 2 Grand Prix de Deauville over 2500m. It was 2800m when RED VERDON won the Maurice de Nieuil last time while TELECASTER was fourth at York over 2000m so what are we to assume of both horse's ability to act over this in-between trip? I prefer ZIYAD who was third in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud last time and while the very soft ground is a question, I always like Group 1 form in Group 2 company. As of next Tuesday, a more "normal" fixture list returns in the UK with 7-race cards replacing the 9 and 10 race meetings we've had since June so we are going back to 4-5 meetings per day instead of three. While the light allows, there will be 3 afternoon fixtures and 2 evening meetings and with a number of the all-weather tracks operating under floodlights, we'll have a thin gruel of evening winter flat racing to stir the soul.

You haven't slagged me off to this point O'man, but probably because I have remained on the sidelines as you have embarrassed yourself. Please shine a light of any single example of Trump's "racism". It's very twee in the woke world to throw that word around but how does it actually manifest. My study of anthropology and more recently the analysis of the human genome tells me that there is only one RACE, the human race or homo sapiens. It presents in many guises--pale, dark, half dip, blue eye, brown eye, short, tall, fair hair, dark hair, nordic features, simian features, asian features,--get my drift. But genetically we are all pretty much the same although homo.sapiens is the the end result of breeding amongst probably 4 progenitors. Now let's have your examples of Trump's racism.

Chickens coming home to roost , comrade cindy seems to be getting a dose of reality . Aucklanders how's it going up there Mondays the big day , the day the virus gets a free pass to spread . This is a massive change in strategy it used to be elimination at all cost the economy didn't matter , no recognition that good health and economy are strongly linked she seems to be learning and must be terrified of the political backlash if this gets out of control . Treasury estimates the Auckland outbreak is costing the country about $500 million a week in lost economic activity. I haven't read or heard anything about protecting the vulnerable , Victoria springs to mind . And robertson is having a rethink as well and its not only about wages but giveaways to anything and everything , $70 mill racing , $260million sports , $150 mill the arts etc etc " Grant Robertson on Covid-19 wage subsidy: 'We are borrowing every single dollar we are paying out'" AH THE young lefty's have much to look forward to , debt repayment will be their responsibility , it used to be global warming that was going to ruin there lives who would have thought comrade cindy would have been the one to ruin their futures .

    Dropping turnovers

The dropping turnovers is symptomatic of the failing of the TAB 1. No Radio 2.No free to air trackside 3.Restricting punters so they go elsewhere 4 No form guides 5 Phonebetting? Full blame should go to those TAB managers who let the above happen. All those 1 dollar mum dad punters add up and now they are gone.

    1. - Races can only be as good as the stock available. Too many being exported means lowering of quality. 2. - Yes, but only in the top class races. But what can you do - the leading owners are always (mainly) going to be able afford the best bred and they send them to the stable with results. Mr Joe Average can't afford the cost of such stock, or the cost of racing them. 3. - Overkill of racing of stock unknown to the enthusiast from areas most haven't heard of. There are fans who don't care and will bet on anything and there are fans that only bet of what they know. I really think the bean counters have to view the overall situation and decide whether losing audience through disinterest is of consequence or not. 4. - Radio simply compulsory. In fact I would think it by far the main culprit in the downfall of the falling take. I think most of the lost dollar is still being invested - Lotto testament to that.

Facts BLM is headed by self admitting Marxists It is used as a Fund raiser for the Democratic party The rioters are Gorge Soros paid ancharchists The Fake BLM events are planned every 4 years prior to the elections to get the black vote. The protest you see in the states are all organised by the 3 same companies. They are paid proestors and crisis actors for the fake media to push their narrative. 21. “In the immediate term, the organisation is focused on financial sustainability and supporting staff as they respond to the challenges they and the business are facing as a result of the pandemic and economic uncertainty”. ..as a result of the PANDEMIC and ECONOMIC UNCERTAINTY. I think the NZ TAB has been facing far more challenges, from way before Pandemic and economic uncertainty. The problem is, many think that the challenges have not been met. That’s a problem not unlike KODAK. Was the one and only and the best. Competition came along and Kodak stood and watched.

  22. Another day of heavy rain here in London Town and we have the final decs for Saturday's racing. Just seven go in the Group 2 Celebration Mile at Goodwood on Saturday for which the ground is currently Good to Soft. BENBATL is clear top rated and is 2/1 favourite. The problem is the balance of his form is on a sound surface - he looked very good slamming KING OF COMEDY at Newmarket last autumn on decent ground but on Champions Day he was tailed off last in the Queen Elizabeth II on Heavy ground. He was last seen running third to MAXIMUM SECURITY on the dirt at Riyadh in the Saudi Cup. He might have too much class for this lot. REGAL REALITY has mixed it with the very best and had a nice confidence-boosting win at Salisbury last time on quick ground. She seems to go on any ground and has a great chance. She saw off DUKE OF HAZZARD that day and the latter has something to prove in this grade. CENTURY DREAM won the Diomed at Epsom and was fifth in the Ispahan which would be a better race than this. POSITIVE was behind CENTURY DREAM in the Ispahan and behind REGAL REALITY at Salisbury and he's far from certain to enjoy slower ground. I'm backing REGAL REALITY if I can get on at 3s or bigger. The big race in North America is the Sword Dancer at Saratoga. This is run over 2400m which is not a usual American trip and it's on the grass so this is a stepping stone to the Breeders Cup Turf, a race often won by the Europeans. A number of these met four weeks ago in a very rough Bowling Green Handicap over 2100m. SADLER'S JOY was first past the race but demoted to fourth for causing interference and CROSS BORDER got the race with HIGHLAND SKY promoted to second and MARZO to third. They all look closely matched to me and the one that interests is PEDRO CARA who was last seen running third in Doha. He was second in the Jockey Club Derby last year and could just be a notch above these.

Sorry JJ but you're dreaming if you think the loss of trackside radio on the airwaves has been catered for by the new app or ROVA or however ever you get trackside nowadays. It's hands down the worse decision made by the current regime. I won't blame them for a second for anything to do with the website, I agree that was the responsibility of a previous regime that got them into this mess. But no trackside radio is simply absurd and having an awful impact on the sport, I'm sure like others many are seeing that on a daily basis .
