  3. I wrote shortly after the race that if Bowman gets less than six months suspension the stewards will be guilty of bringing racing into disrepute. He got six weeks and the stewards are guilty, as charged. Ever since this happened I have been racking my brain trying to think of a similar occurrence. I can't. It was the worst I have seen.

    Midweek racing /Radio

Over the last few years I’ve enjoyed putting on the Bluetooth headphones and listening to radio Trackside as I work . Coppins, Peter Early, trainers insights to the day’s and weekends racing, CD track spies reports ,Kneebones northern tips.Des Coppins Sunday show and Monday Reviews all gone . Feels like they’ve removed part of the sole of this great sport .As a result of the crude changes I don’t bet during the week now and don’t listen to anything racing apart from Saturday’s .Not the only one I bet .

  6. Slowly catching up with last week's action and I've now seen the third day at Goodwood by which time the hot sunshine had dried the ground to Good to Firm. The feature Nassau Stakes over 2000m for the fillies and mares saw, in contrast to both the Goodwood Cup and the Sussex on the previous two days, the 3-y-o decisively defeat the older fillies. I'm not sure what Frankie Dettori thought he was doing on MAGIC WAND who usually comes from off the pace but FANCY BLUE was always in the perfect position and let's not forget she was second in the Irish 1000 Guineas and won the Diane beating ALPINE STAR who had won the Coronation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hERSvYzZRyE ONE VOICE ran a huge race in second and was closing the winner down at the line. She had come out of a rough Group 2 at The Curragh so the question is whether she improved a lot or the winner didn't quite run to her Diane form. I thought the unlucky horse was NAZEEF who got into every dark corner going but finished well for third and you certainly couldn't say she didn't see out the trip. I'd love to see her in a race like the Juddmonte or the Irish Champion. The Group 2 Richmond Stakes saw a convincing win for SUPREMACY who came home four lengths clear of YAZAMAN. The winner had won a Windsor maiden but his trainer Clive Cox is developing a real reputation as a fine handler of sprinting juveniles and 3-y-o and it wouldn't be the biggest surprise to see this year's winner emulate the 2019 winner, GOLDEN HORDE, from the same stable who went on to win the Commonwealth Cup. The Gordon Stakes is a Group 3 these days but it was the first real test of the Epsom Derby form. However, ENGLISH KING ran badly and it was MOGUL who restored part of his tarnished reputation by beating HIGHLAND CHIEF. With Epsom second KHALIFA SAT held in fifth, the questions over the quality and value of SERPENTINE's win at Epsom remain. I backed AL SALT each way in the 2000m handicap for the 3-y-o on the basis of his good win last time but you could have knocked me down with several feathers when 50/1 blowout JUNKANOO won. Okay, mine crawled into third and I got back a few pennies but it was another odd race as you get on the Sussex Downs.

Yes bring back traditional radio Trackside. Listening to any radio station on a mobile device wears out ones batteries to. At least with an ordinary radio one can take it outside, turn the volume to a sound one can hear it inside and outside. Mobile ph devices it's definitely not the done thing. Wake up Racing industry. Has anyone considered organising a Change.org petition to ensure the return of Radio Trackside on Traditional Radio along with Free to Air TV coverage so the wider community can have a say to? we hear people from time to time ring other talk back stations from time to time saying they "Used to listen to Radio Trackside" but it's at the moment not here for us.

  9. Am I the only one struggling to successfully punt on the oz synthetic tracks? Not just in racing but particularly councils and regulatory industries upper management salaries are ridiculous and wrong and redundancy payments also wrong. Our game has survived for generations with a lot of valuable and unpaid work from experienced and knowledgeable people who love the game. It has now been driven down a dark road by well paid, like 5 times what they are really worth IMHO, people who have made poor decisions ie the multi million dollar website etc, and the worst thing is they've taken along with them the poor buggers who love and rely on the industry to eat and get by. A blind man can see we need to get back to basics, cull the huge top salaries, maybe a tender system for the jobs and pay. Get the radio back, everyone spends a lot of time in cars etc, it was our best marketing tool. I was interested in the game but cannot believe with the money it generates, the people it supports, the enjoyment it gives, it is now almost dead Very sad but we must save it and common sense will do it, not grand ideas. Sorry for my rant but it pisses me off

  10. Punting is a self inflicted wound , punters have two choices , smarten up and back winners (administers can't help with that) or gamblers anonymous it really is that simple .

    Whats your view???

Sometimes I think Legal people think they are above everyone else. I was in a bar once and this lawyer was absolutely blind drunk and he was threatening to “sue the arse of everyone around him”. One guy told him to shut up and go home and demanded that bar staff not serve him. So they did not serve him so he threatened to sue the bar staff. In the end, all of us had enough of this wanker and one guy grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and marched him outside and threw him in the gutter (where he belonged) and told him to get a cab home. Nobody saw him again for several months and by then I doubt he still didn’t know how he got home nor details of the dickhead he was. In the end, certain behaviours catch up with these wankers who place themselves on a pedestal and think they are above everyone.

  15. Pretty sad. What a great horse he was. He still holds the WR over a 5/8th mile track over here which is 1:49 http://www.harnesslink.com/International/Sebastian-K.-dies-from-Colic He had blistering speed for a trotter. Could trot a quarter in 25 on his ear. Trotter a half in a race in 53 seconds. Had more speed than many pacers. Has yet top leave a champ at stud.

  19. The premier club in the land doing a great job, well done to PW and the team. they are progressive, financially sound and have done a good job over the years with their property portfolio and investments. my only criticism is that the place should have a strathayr racing surface...it’s imperative. but the club is going the right way. and you are right, I hate going to tracks that have subpar facilities...look at Flemington, Randwick, Sha Tin, proper facilities for everyone no matter what rung of the ladder they are on.

  21. But at Matamata the picture quality of the racing from San Francisco and Louisiana was brilliant. I am going to let you people in on a little secret that sodomites from Jackson Street, Petone may not be aware of. Punters who travel to race meetings such as Matamata could not give a tuppenny half penny stuff about Golden Gate and Evangeline Downs racing. They are interested in the betting at the course they are at.

  24. In my childhood, which was a long time ago, I was taught that if you look after your pennies, the pounds will look after themselves. That is, get the little details correct, the big stuff will follow on in seamless manner. So looked at the punters at Matamata betting on race three after the horses had left the birdcage. And the highly paid dongbeaters from the TAB in Wellington had the screens showing the approximate dividends for race one. Remind me how much those dingbats spent on information technology. They would not know a caslick from a cannon bone. They might think that a caslick is an orthodontal operation on a mug punter; well it is a matter of stitching up a cnut, isn't it. To treat your customers as if they are contemptible individuals is very short sighted. I use the word "contemptible" as my Google dictionary has two meanings for one four letter word; the first is a vulva, the second is a contemptible person.
