Yes, you can print the racebook from the internet, but it costs a fortune in ink, it's a lot less convenient, and it doesn't have the same presence in the community as a book displayed on a service station or dairy shelf.

Planet Earth Calling. We already have a publisher, the products called RACEFORM, there's buyer demand, people are happy to pay and there's advertisers. Just need RITA's co-operation in supplying the form as I understand to make it happen. Shelf life - that's a slightly strange request. You'll never please everyone. Its for current published raceform, 3-4 days, its disposable. Stick with your ipad, phone or laptop. Call me Bizarre, I want to do both, do some research online, study and mark my Raceform, and then enjoy the racing with some online research on the day and much flicking of the pages. Each to their own.

The blame for the two women slip up lies fairly and squarely with National opposition party. If an MP is going to bat for any cause then they should make certain everything has been done to the letter. The MP Chris someone failed miserably and I hate to think what would have happened if National had been in government. I suggest National stop interfering with the protocols and trying to set Labour up. As the NZ Herald quite rightly pointed out this was an own goal for National.

  10. The only way to follow a review of Day One is with a review of Day Two. Despite some overnight rain, the ground remained generally good. The sole Group 1 on Wednesday's card was the Prince of Wales Stakes over 2000m for the older horses. Favourite for this was JAPAN from the Aidan O'Brien yard but there were plenty of concerns about the lack of pace in the race and these turned out to be justified. In the final 300m, it turned out into a sprint and all seven had a chance but perhaps with the advantage of a recent run, LORD NORTH quickened far more effectively and in the end won handily. ADDEYBB, for whom the rain arrived 24 hours late as it turned out, ran a fine second with BARNEY ROY hinting at a return to near his previous best in third. JAPAN was close behind in fourth. ADDEYBB's connections could rightly curse the elements and if it came up soft or heavy for the Eclipse he'd have a real chance. LORD NORTH has been introduced as 5/1 third favourite for the Eclipse behind GHAIYYATH at 3/1 and ENABLE at 5/4. I'd have some reservations about him in a fast run Eclipse which looks likely with GHAIYYATH likely to make the running. It's too early to give up on JAPAN - I suspect he'll be back for the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes over the much more suitable 2400m. He did win the Juddmonte over 2000m but that race was run at a murderous gallop and the long York straight works for him much better than the short Ascot run-in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UjQKBTCujQ The rest of the card was frankly not up to the normal Ascot standard with four handicaps. Her Majesty the Queen enjoyed a rare 2-y-o success at the meeting with TACTICAL another to benefit from the huge draw bias favouring the high numbers in the Windsor Castle Stakes but I thought the second YAZAMAN ran a huge race from stall five. He already wears blinkers which won't please everyone but I think he's decent but as a sprinter. RUSSIAN EMPEROR followed up his Derrinstown second with a good win in the Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes which is one of those races which produces a solid form-line. He ran down FIRST RECEIVER who put up a decent effort and indeed both the first two are worth following.

Looking through the fields I am uplifted by the triumph of Kiwi battling spirit some people have , there are a lot of horses in there tomorrow I would have chucked the towel in day 1 of closedown , a few in there wouldn't win a walk over to be brutally honest but best wishes to all for a good day .

Interesting new claimer starting up tomorrow .Rogie has his granddaughter Bailey riding 6 horses on her first day so not just easing her into it. She can ride at 52 kg's so will be a real asset for the stable with Ryan being the senior rider .Bailey will most probably only ride for Rogie as they will have bulk horses racing . As she still is part of the training in Team Rogie won't be able to ride another horse if Rogie has one in the race . With Bailey helping in training and then riding all Rogie has to do is get her to get her HT licence and she can drive the horses to and from the track , Cheers BH

  17. Two brilliant days so Counties will get away with it. However in general not a good idea carding 11 races in winter. Can someone shut those bookies up. Hardly essential. Their odds are not "traded" as one bookie on Trackside keeps telling viewers. If there was a semblance of "trading" NZTAB would not get any business. Their odds are mostly 100% worse than overseas bookies or tote.

Do you not own a phone? You can Bluetooth, Miracast or Aux your phone into the car, depending on car age. You can use the TAB website or Love racing to broadcast. Yep a little less easy than the radio, but not a heck lot different & with regard to Raceform publication, well that form of information has been dead for yrs. I am happy if you still want that but the industry better not be funding for you, user pays.

The Embarrassing Incompetent Personages of COVID-19 By JC Note: Taxcinda has gone "mia" Now that the unraveling of the shambles that was the handling of COVID-19 is becoming apparent, there is also becoming apparent a number of personages who have suffered embarrassment as a result of the fallout. There is no better place to start than at the top with the Prime Minister. First, her obsession with being able to help to spread the virus at the anniversary of the Christchurch massacre with her hugging routine prevented her from going hard and early. This hard and early nonsense is a lie that the Government has no qualms about repeating ad nauseam. When she finally had to give up on her Muslim masquerade and close the borders it was too late. The BFD. Pshaw! Social distancing is for other people. You could argue it didn’t matter because those still allowed to enter the country were pretty much able to just wander in with a friendly greeting of don’t forget to self isolate and here’s a leaflet. Something to read on the way home or while travelling to your accommodation. Effectively an open border. No proper scrutiny, no proper testing, no means of checking on self-isolation. Meanwhile, those of us lucky enough to have a house to live in were barely allowed to open our front door. Meanwhile, at 1pm each day Jacinda and Ashley appeared to present what was the equivalent of the daily episode of the soap opera Days of our Lives. Stop the presses! Right here is the problem with this Prime Minister. All she is interested in is being adored, not just here but globally. Her priority is self promotion on the global stage. Jacinda doesn’t have to worry about knowing the nuts and bolts of anything because her communication studies have taught her how to talk a lot on a subject while either saying nothing or espousing misinformation. The next personage to embarrass himself was the Minister of Health Dr David Clark who doesn’t appear to do anything by halves. He obviously wasn’t content with breaking the rules set by his Department just once because he had two or three goes at it. As Minister of Health, he became the invisible man and somewhat redeemed himself by giving an exemplary example of self-isolation. Another personage who has embarrassed himself was a doctor of a different sort, the Prime Minister’s babe magnet, Dr Ashley Bloomfield. Here is a man who was totally fixated on his daily television date with Jacinda while his health department was going to hell in a handcart. There were numerous problems with the handling of COVID-19 plus the availability of the yearly flu vaccine but, like Jacinda, he bluffed his way through. Even now he doesn’t have a handle on quarantine numbers and who has or hasn’t been tested. By the way, also like Jacinda, he broke his own rules on social distancing. This couple has a degree of commonality. The BFD. Hypocrite of the day. Director General of Health Ashley Bloomfield stands close to restaurant staff breaching social distancing rules imposed by his ministry. A similar photo situation at a restaurant earnt National MP Matt King a police reprimand. The other personage to offer up embarrassment was the media. The journalists that attended the daily pressers, which eventually morphed into an electioneering platform for the Labour Party, were an embarrassment themselves. They deserve to have a place in the Guinness Book of Records for asking the most number of inane questions in the allotted time. So keen were they to prostrate themselves at the feet of their two heroes they became dribbling sycophants to the point of self-inflicted humiliation. If they had done what is supposed to be their job, research and investigate, we would all have been better informed much earlier. The BFD. Jacinda and her adoring flock of Journalists. Photoshopped image credit Luke What we can take from this is an incompetent Prime Minister leading (?) an incompetent Government with a totally incompetent Minister of Health and an incompetent Director-General of Health backed by a compliant incompetent media. I suggest September is the time to terminate this reign of incompetence and save the country further embarrassment.

Sorry slammer but you will have to do better than that , all Bishop did was what any MP would do for his constituates . We were ALL lead to believe the quarantine was working , how was Bishop or anyone supposed to know it was a complete stuff up and of course you do remember the petition National organized that was signed by 40.000 demanding all entrants coming into NZ be quarantined . As you can see the only reason we have the quarantine requirements is because of National and the 40000 who demanded it . Chris Bishop was entitled to believe it was working , WE WERE ALL CONNED . WED, APR 8 • A National-led petition demanding mandatory quarantine for everyone entering New Zealand’s borders has gained over 40,000 signatures in 24 hours. The petition is calling on the Government to require everyone arriving into New Zealand - symptomatic of coronavirus or not - to undergo at least 14 days of mandatory quarantine. Dr Ashley Bloomfield yesterday said stronger border measures were under “very active consideration”. Note the date 8 april .

Yes, I did think very poorly of the Allen Hughes regime. How long are you willing to give the current lot then to report the progress you suggest and show it has had a positive affect on the bottom line? They've ignored other parts of the M report it seems and what do you see in the current bill as it stands that will improve returns to RITA and racing?

Ok Kilcoyne, who jumped the gun? One would assume that your reply to Turny Tom says it’s “plod.” I would suggest you pay more attention to your posts. But I do love some of your recent statements: “I have 134 cases before the courts at the moment and could do with some assistance with paper work.” “Well anyone who HAS driven like myself.” “I wish!!! Track riding finished when I got to 68kg.” “Not uneducated!!! Nearly 30 years Police service means I know what I’m talking about.” “Just happen to know what I’m talking about with over 20 years experience ensuring that the rules are complied with.” “Kinda like the search rules, need a warrant to search unless you are RIU.” Did they not teach you in the force that self-praise is no recommendation? So I’ll hand back the spatula to you Kilcoyne and after you get all the egg off your face you can use it to mix up another batch of donuts in the Police cafeteria. Hey, but clearly I’m not as educated as you and your mate Tom Turny with a double degree from the school of the mentally gifted. Anyway Kilcoyne just a bit of by play, you’re clearly a flea and a distraction, and I have bigger fish like your mate Poundy to fry. Goodbye.

I certainly don't claim bravery to be my forte. However, there's a fine line between bravery and sheer stupidity. In case you are inferring something different, I also don't think I have made any personal attacks on either the RITA board or the CEO. I am critical of their observable performance and lack of transparency about that though.. Finally, I think you must have a different perception of what is overnight than I do. When again was the current RITA board appointed to the MAC?

Yeah right from the start Mike Hosking has not been happy with the Ashley Bloomfield approach to dealing with the Cornavirus. "Australia are doing it better", "Why are we still in Lockdown?" "Why haven't we moved to Level One yet?"..........and on and on he's droned. When the opportunity came for Mike to cut down a tall poppy, he didn't miss. And New Zealand cheered, cause we love cutting down those tall poppy's.

  38. From a racing perspective the aim should have been to keep sports betting confined as an option just so far to make sure sports betting stayed with TAB and not go to say Lotteries Commission. Instead the racing people on the Board allowed sports driven directors and managers to take over. The Jetbet system was written in a language not common nowadays hence the IT people were pushing for a replacement. THats where had there been someone on the board who could evaluate the pro's and cons a sensible decision could have been made. Don't get confused with cost to run and the Paddy Power supply of the odds.

People very rarely consider the meaning of NAMES in relation to their purpose in life... Donald Donald is an Anglicization of the Scottish Gaelic name, Domhanll, which means world-ruler John Trump's middle name is the English derivative of the Hebrew name, Yohanan, which means Graced by Yahweh Trump Drumpf is a corruption of Trumpf, which is derived from the German word, trumme, meaning drummer Thus Donald Trump's full name literally means: the ruler of the world, graced by God and a descendant of a drummer.

It’s been said before but one of the best “small” Race Club with great facilities is Sunshine Coast (Caloundra) in Qld. A bigger Club with excellent facilities and probably the best catering is the Gold Coast. The newly renovated downstairs public area is very good. Members facilities and food are first class also. It’s not hard really. Avondale is a good track but it’s a disgrace from a patrons perspective. Like quite a number of NZ Public Stands, it faces towards the South and the winter shit weather, no sun, brrrrrrr. Last time I went to Avondale I took a photo when leaving because I swore I’d never be back. Give me Caloundra all day!!

I say good luck to Shane and his Counties Club for trying to attract a few more paying guests to the resumption of Racing. I notice how Rugby has talked up their resumption and the first weekends crowds have responded to the occasion with significant larger than usual numbers. We all know this normally is a tough time of year on racing calendar , winter and many horses may have not had the normal length preparation. A few weeks back there was great uncertainty for the Industry and the thousands who rely on it for their livelihood. Fields are uncertain ,but whatever is carded I hope the club gets good support and I for one will wish them well and hope to join in some way ! Now is not the time for slagging people off for their endeavours.
