  1. The Yanks do a bit of Dutch betting , two for the win in one race , a lot of merit in covering the bank via a saver or each way even at less than evens the place . BGP are a good twenty 20 batsman, they swung for boundary in last bet last week I see and put it out park , got out trouble , this week caught on ropes , that's their MO I suppose . Not for me , each to their own . Hopefully the people hooked in a good way moderate within means punting . I like they put a warning up , good on them . Losing it all a good thing for newbies , a healthy dose of reality early .

  2. Nasty little piece of works aren't you Kloppite. You don't post here very often but about half of those posts is having a go at me. It hasn't go un-noticed by others either. How you can twist this is beyond belief. You must have been up all night trying to work an angle on this one to troll yet again. Scumbag! Rdytdy Posted 21 hours ago I wasn't involved with this punter's club as I do very little Australian form and as such would bring little to the table. However the boys that did created plenty of interest over two weeks of the Championships and I am sure that they will bounce back and would suggest plenty of people will be very keen to be involved in the next one. For one group of about four eight years ago to now have over 16,000 members today with a lot of overseas interest says they are doing plenty right. One of the very few positive things happening in racing in recent years. Go the lads.

  3. Firstly, I wasn't involved as one of the selectors as such seeing it was Australian racing. I still went into the syndicate. There is no NZ racing at present and with people in lockdown it was decided to give people an interest and some entertainment. It was also pointed out prior to joining to be prudent and only do so if one could afford to do so. Perhaps if you did a bit of research on BGP you will clearly see plenty of positivity emanating from the group in a number of ways.

    Bye bye Radio Trackside

The RITA statement quoted above suggests that for the first time in 42 years punters will not be able to follow the horses on their radios since Radio Pacific started broadcasting in 1978. So what was I listening to in the days of Brookby Song and Arabian Nights? Or when David Clarkson told us what the ladies were wearing at Addington before getting into his "neck-and-neck, stride-for-stride finishes"? My father-in-law and I would spend hours on a Saturday out in his garden shed tuning in to his oldish but powerful valve radio and geeing on our fancies as they turned for home. These were the days of YAs, YCs, XHs, YZs with radio race broadcasts - and radio static - emanating from faraway places like Hamilton and New Plymouth. Way before 1978.

  8. Haven’t you recognised a common theme in all thomPsons “tips” red rum ? its not really about his world renowned stopping ability it’s his inability to understand punting, probability, stats AND most importantly, a concept he has no idea of .......VALUE. I wonder if he really thinks he can win long term backing the horses he “tips” at the odds they invariably are? Reality is he has a snowflakes chance in hell as does anyone employing a similar strategy. You would be better off starting a dedicated thread listing his “ tips” and progressive balance to illustrate this fact to any poor idiot that thinks otherwise.

  9. Yet you picked Nettoyer in the comp!? (before the race was run) You realise you're looking like a bigger benefit of hindsight genius than rdytdy, who I note was quick to disassociate himself from Saturday's BGP Punters Club performance - no "I" in team teddy!

  10. Disclaimer: I am a member of BGP, got the polo shirt, wear the hat etc. So I could be bias. Note I was not in the punter's club however. The punter's club that ran over the last two weekends, was labelled "the spirit lifter" - in these times of bugger all on, it was an opportunity for those that wanted to, to throw some coin in, grab a share and have some entertainment. The first week returned a good result, $139-$140 per ($100) share. The vast majority of the punter's club, wanted to "go again", the following week. I think from memory only 7-8 people pulled out after week 1. It was very clearly stated, prior to signing up, that the purpose of the punter's club was to have some fun, there were no guarantees of any returns and also the importance of current situation, that potential participants give thought to their current financial position. Luke and the gang should be commended on advising this. Well done the lads for giving it a crack, and giving many people a bit of fun for a couple of weeks.

  14. GRUFF, Mesoblast has a market cap of $1.34b and has hit the road running in the States with currently phase 3 completed with FDA application approval for a 240 patient radmomized multi centre trial in the USA, and the share price has responded accordingly by jumping 36% on fridays ASX market (10 April) their is an huge upside still to come to fridays closing price of $2.50. it will not open up on Tuesday at $2.50! Gruff i have be buying small parcels of MSB FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS AVERAGING THE SHARE PRICE. expectations are that MSB will finish the year up at a round $A20 per share and MSB stell cells will be the way of the future and become another CSL (CURRENTLY AT $328 PER SHARE ) tThere is a forum called "hotcopper" go on and load in to the search engine MSB and get all the latest info/gossip re msb etc. i cannot wait till Tuesdays opening very exciting times ahead. 17. Because it's a political decision not a rational one. Jacinda is like Ohokaman she would rather see NZers die than credit Trump for a cure She is a globalist on the side of a 7 trillion Bill Gates vaccine where they want to register you to make sure you have had your vaccines.. Total control ....right from the Agenda 21 Agenda 2030 playbook ... control the population through vaccines. Wakey wake

  18. My original comments were on the mark with no thought for trainers /owners throughout nz. Only the easy decision not the correct one. . There is only one lLAST comment I will make . (and I don't accept hrnz poor excuse which was expected as the few movements of tab staff is given preference over dozens of trainers should they want to stay in busness) The risk to clubs and trainers means a difficult future for both. An old saying comes to mind That is "THE INMATES ARE RUNNING THE ASYLUM" +

    Vale Might And Power.......

Has there ever been a more appropriate name for a horse? Indeed. His QE2 win was a demolition job. I loved the renaissance of Jimmy Cassidy too who Nick Moraitis gave the opportunity. His celebration after he won the Caulfield Cup was equally as good as his dominant win. A fairy tale come back racing story for the ages.

    Vale Might And Power.......

Yes, I think that win would have to rate as the best effort I have seen from a racehorse. Veandercross came close in one of his wins but if you take a look at Might and Power at that stage he was beyond compare. In the cup he came back to them quite quickly half way down and every one had their chance to get him from then on. A true champion .

  24. I think what a lot of people miss about BGP is that its got a cult following and has attracted many new younger entrants to gambling on TB racing. Its live action and each member is made a part of it.More importantly they reingage week after week because its fun and full of live drama with bets on a scale they could not do individually Greg

  26. My only issue with that is....I couldn't have Nettoyer as I couldn't see it backing up as well two weeks in a row in roughly similar conditions. My only other issue is....shouldn't you guys stop ripping sh** out of each other and try to find a winner across the ditch today? Perhaps you can do both.....;)

Even way before 1968 Jape. Then at 6 oclock on ZB we got the whole racing roundup, every result and dividend from every race in the country along with all sports events, even club stuff plus English football results too. "Service" has gradually gone right out the window since then.

  29. Love the BGP concept Ted but there’s nothing prudent about leaving Neil Davis in charge of punting 10’s of thousands of dollars of hard earned on Australian racing. You might as well have placed the whole lot on a bonfire prior to race 1. They seriously need to take a hard look at who they are trusting with punting the loot.

  30. The leader of the RealNZ Party is David Moffett the former CEO of NZ Rugby Union. He is the only person/party in NZ that has any idea of what is coming. As the political indictments happen in US he is the party that will jump out of nowhere.while the 2 main NZ parties will get caught up in the scandal.

  36. I'm sure those at the helm will appreciate it that you can see the problem OM.....and I see in an earlier post that your picks would have been far more successful etc etc Its kind of this attitude that motivates me and others to get involved with BGP who have brought a whole new dimension to racing and in particular enhanced the on-course experience. And why the movement is doing more to interest the lost generation of younger folk back into racing ,than anything else I have seen for a long while. Yesterday ,the kitty was lost , it was Day 2 , for $105 per share I thought it good value.....Interest in two afternoons racing of the very best Group racing in Australia. I for one , otherwise would not have had a bet other than the BGP interest. Reading the smugness and negativity of your views ,maybe myself and other members should indeed just give up ,withdraw and put no more $$ thru the NZTAB. And BGP should disband and inform the growing membership. NZ Racing will well and truly be finished then. Your wishes will come true.

  37. They had a crack Rusty and showed their cards PRIOR to the event. Full credit to them and I wish them all the success in the future. They’ve definitely created something special that’s for sure. Even the racing media over here are on board. It’s great to see.

That's it! That's him. "Yeah Des, good morning from a beautiful Autumn morning here in Christchurch. It is about 16 degrees here and I can see the nor'west arch from my living room. Going up to 22 today Des, and rain coming tomorrow and Tuesday." Always failed to mention the wind like Tony Greig on the 12th man... The wind is blowing 20k's from the north-east and outta my ar$e at about 30.

  40. They replayed that QE2 win on formline , dealt to the field in big way . Australian racing was still a mystery to most punters up North in his racing days , no Internet etc but most racefans with even half an interest knew of Might and Power. What a name for a Champion .

I am disappointed that you are all picking on Ms Ardern for what is simply errors made in hindsight. Since these errors have passed and some 50 Billion lost in direct and indirect losses, she has seen the need to step up her game and has sought the input of particularly intelligent people for the next big decision. The decision to exit lockdown will be made by none other than “Caucus”, which included such luminaries as David Clark, up to a week ago. He WAS a senior member and Rated higher than most others.. We are in such great hands, you can almost put the champagne in the fridge that you brought online, along with a seven hundred dollar dressing gown to go to dinner in once this ends.

  46. I don't assume anything with hrnz and co. .it may be a short term fix so small clubs suffer just for a while.(and trainers and owners) BUT...… I HAVE LIVED LONG ENOUGH TO NOT TRUST decisions made in difficult times that are unrelated to the matter in hand . lets face it the rationalisation of tracks is still a policy in the background. Thank heavens there is a race café .to expose them.

  47. The advantage of radio is that one can do other stuff while listening, rather than being obliged to sit at a screen. Without Sky/Spark tv, or Radio Sport, might have to buy a newspaper to find the cricket scores.
