  2. This whole post should be deleted, it's nothing but a slander of one of New Zealands most competent race callers

  3. I recall one of the greatest race call story tellers Of all time, the late Bert Bryant. He was an unbelievable caller. Yet even the best have off days. Remember his brain fade on that wet Melb Cup day when Medici was leading? From about the 1200m to the 500m peg (or thereabouts) he could not get Medici’s name out and stayed like that up front dribbling for 700m, unable to get his name out. Nothing to do with Tony Lee, one of the best to grace the microphone in NZ, of course, but funny things can happen. I remember Bryan Martin, Who had a share in the great Fields of Omagh, the 2003 and 2006 Cox Plate winner. In 2006 He was calling the race and it must have been so hard at the 150m peg with FOO charging late. To his credit, Martin called the race as though he didn’t have a share in the winner! I’ve noticed TLee has a bit of a “lisp” (if that’s what you call it) on Certain words. But he’s a very professional person (and a good guy) and to make any suggestion that he would be “pissed” on the job, or under the influence where it affected his calling, is imho, a slur on his good character. Fortunately, the effect of such a slur depends on who’s delivering it and in T Lee’s case, it’s not worth worrying about.

  4. I would be very careful accusing people of doing something you clearly have no evidence of...T Lee has had a lisp for a long time in his calls and for you to come in here and cast aspersions on him will not be tolerated...period!!!! Many in here have said, with some knowledge I would say that to them there was nothing wrong with the call...maybe we should move on.

  6. SD I am all for free speech but this comment raises a valid reason for you posting being a crime. Science is all we know at this moment. I remember an Ak university professor giving a lecture I once attended and he started by saying 20% of what I am about to tell you will probably be wrong wrong, history has proven that. No one, not even Gruffy is saying climate change is not happening but many of us realise that human activity is no solely responsible. End all human activity tomorrow and climate change will still continue. That is not saying that what humans are doing to the planet is alright.. On the electric miracle. the batteries have a reasonably short life span and are very costly to replace so in a short time there are going to be many motorists facing bills in the thousands for replacements. And what about the old batteries. At the moment they are mainly disposed of into the sea.

  7. Great to see a trotter get up to run a place last night at Alex park... It's name? Recycle. 11/12 in the betting. Paid $7.70 the place. This suggests a few things to me... obviously there weren't too many tree hugging hippies on track last night. And secondly punters that were ontrack or tuned in, automatically dismissed the horse, based purely on it's name. To be fair, my eyes completely glazed over it... it was my dear wife that laughed, I mean pointed out it's name to me. The best part? The trainer/owner is Mr Green. Kid you not. I vote this horse gets automatic entry to the climate change race meeting. Never mind votes for the All Star mile. We need votes for the climate change race meeting. We all need to "raise awareness" for climate change. And HOW DARE YOU if you don't. We owe it to the world, to our children and our children's children. First vote: the 4yr old trotter; Recycle.

  8. The only unprofessional one on this thread is CT. Listening to races while he should have been working and then posting complete shite on here while he should have been working.

  9. Dragon Leap was unbelievable after a slight hiccup. Normally a hiccup of any sort is curtains but in this instance I don't think so. Having said that, I would much rather see a NZ bred horse win the race. For value I am with Vladivostok and not just because I am a committed socialist. [Come in P4P hehe]

  10. Morphettville Race 8 #4 Hasta La War Was a moral beaten last start. He is the most promising stayer in SA at the moment and the senior jockey goes aboard this time. Drawn perfectly. Will get the run of the race Good punting

    Climate Change Racemeeting.

Watching Dark Egypt the other night Gommy and all the evidence including ice core data showed a significant climate change/shift around 4200 years ago that turned Egypt amongst most north African countries into desert. Evidence of the ancient docile crocodile in these regions points to a completely different landscape......Had to be ‘Carbon ‘ related

  14. Rules For Some

    Uthor Bale

Are you daft? The moment his head turned to the right, he failed to pursue the lure for that moment as he was looking elsewhere I.e. not pursuing the lure. Pretty straightforward I thought. Nothing more to discuss really Saying "what If the rule did not exist?" Is just as stupid as implying he did not fail to pursue because the rule does exist just for this type of scenario. I'm sure connections are gutted as would anyone be in this situation but rules are clear. Winning a race by 5L doesn't wipe clean the fact the dogs head turned right for those few moments.

  15. 29 Oct 2019 New Zealand will provide a $15 million contribution to the Green Climate Fund’s (GCF) FIRST replenishment. This was announced by New Zealand’s Ambassador to France, Jane Coombes, at the GCS’s pledging conference, held in Paris on Friday. The GCF is a US$10 billion fund used to finance efforts to cut green-house gas emissions and support climate change adaptation in developing countries. New Zealand has committed to providing $300m (THREE HUNDRED MILLION) in climate-related support over the next four years , CHINA loves this fund . $15 million , now that would build a nice dam in Northland wouldn't it .

  20. Jack Ayling was just the funniest guy. I used to like it when journalist, Peter Lovett, came on and when someone suggested a horse would win, Lovett would have this saying, “You are Kidding!” A funny Bloke. I met Bert Bryant and his wife Molly. They were genuine people. Re Medici, I remember watching the race and I couldn’t even count the horses on the turn let alone the colours. But ever the pro.

Gruff No argument from me. In order for a Forum to survive it needs opinions, it needs facts, it needs stories, it needs posters that agree and disagree with each other, it needs all of these What it doesn't need is a tasteless comment added after congratulating Tim on a winning drive Nina is right, it is akin to online bullying given the target is young and probably impressionable For 'JJ' to say Nina has taken his comment out of context is pathetic and childish. The comment stands alone, it can't be taken out of context My opinion, once I view the race that the thread originated upon, may well be that the drive on Luella was poor. If I think it was then I might offer my opinion as to that. "JJ" too is allowed his opinion. He can even have an opinion that a Driver might not possess the ability to be a top Driver. He is certainly allowed to state that too The drive isn't the problem. His opinion isn't the problem. It is the vile jab the was added that is the crux of the matter Mikie

Couldn't agree more CT.Catalyst all the way. Unless Van Dyke is one of the great poker players. It's building as one of the great races. Not sure what old mate Trumpster is going for.He seems to have 5-6 he likes.I'm picking the Alligator is the pea for him. Good punting all at the weekend especially our mate Pogo a gogo.

  24. The Gator is the lay of the day Ernie. He’s been up a long time and he will feel every inch of that last 200m. His trainer David Vandyke is also adamant there is little to no improvement in him where as the others will be peaking tomorrow. Catalyst to win and secure favouritism for the All Star Mile. AB to run a gallant 3rd and be immediately spelled.

  26. nothing slurred about the race call imo...though T Lee is hardly the best caller in NZ..among the worst in fact ...if you think his words are slurred it any stem from some 'mushy esses' ..perhaps dental plates?? causing that ..none of the Kiwi callers can hold a candle to the likes of Matt Hill..a true professional who never gets carried away with his own 'importance' and gets through the field efficiently, while still communicating the nuances of the race tactics/excitement etc

  29. The problem we now have is Trackside thinks they know it all. With their presentation of races they don"t give a rats about what the punter wants .We are missing out on judges call and photo finish and if they do show the photo finish I"m sure they are using a Box Brownie camera. You only have to look back last weekend when we were so looking forward to the Catalyst v AB ,no pre race build up ,race shown on TS2 and delayed on TS1 what a let down they treat us with contempt as if we don"t know racing unfortunatley this is what we have to put up with ,as I have said before I feel like Custer, it does not matter how high or how hard you wave the white flag the same result is inevitable cheers BH

Do you even know who John Cook is Bazach? How can the so called ‘Deniers ‘ have their heads in the sand when they are more informed? Obama was quick to retweet this to his 11 million followers who ate it up like seed thrown to a flock of hungry birds. Watch the news by all means, but base your opinion on study, the leading Atmospheric scientist is Richard Lindzen.....and yes he is a little more qualified than a Swedish schoolgirl who knows very little on the subject

  35. Spot on. The rivers of waste - plastic and other - pouring into the sea concern me much, much more. As long as there has been a planet Earth with a climate, there has been climate change. If it hadn't been for an event of catastrophic proportions that knocked off the dinosaurs, we [as a species ] wouldn't even be here. But the way we are going, it seems unlikely that we will knock them off their perch as one of the most successfully adapted animals ever....
