There are a multitude of reasons why they are so good. Probably the main ingredient for their strike rate is the fact they don’t tolerate mediocrity. The battling racehorse doesn’t even get to their barn - it’s culled by those doing the breaking in. Included in this list will be high priced yearling purchases. Next Purdon has always been innovative in his approach to training and horsemanship. There has to be a direct correlation to an increased strike rate and his move to Rolleston and a straight training track. Thirdly imagine the possibilities presented when you have half a dozen cup class horses to work together. None of the other good trainers are spoilt like that. Surely AS can get a degree more fitness into their charges. On that note it is interesting Ray Green has the best 3yo in the country and has another that is not that far behind. It must condition horses better. Of course having many horses in one race just leads to the result they will win. And they do but many times they run second and third also and then of course the nutcracker is when they have the sole horse they still win - generally. Their domination, I think, is bad for the industry, but it is idiotic to somehow punish them for their astonishing results. The pair strive for excellence in their profession and everyone should applaud that. Jealousy is a human nature that at times can be bitter. Bigger the person who can put that aside.

    Jacinda Ardern

This must be the same UN pact that cindy the grim reaper (next time she puts on the head gear have a look) signed and Winston ignored . President Emmanuel Macron has been accused of “treason” in a letter signed by 11 generals, an admiral and colonel. penned by General Antione Martinez, warns that Macron’s signing of the U.N. Global Migration Pact strips France of its sovereignty and provides a legitimate reason for “an already battered people” to “revolt.” Voiceofeurope.com reports: The highly decorated military co-signees assert that the beleaguered Macron is “guilty of a denial of democracy or treason against the nation” for signing the migration pact without putting it to the people. “The French state is late in coming to realize the impossibility of integrating too many people, in addition to totally different cultures, who have regrouped in the last forty years in areas that no longer submit to the laws of the Republic,” the letter advises, also saying that mass immigration is erasing France’s “civilizational landmarks”. Can you imagine what will happen here when the UN sends us a hundred thousand refugees a year and we have signed away our rites to stop it .

I think that it has settled a bit, but with rain on the day it seems to rear its head again. The drainage there is good, and the new track manager and his staff know the track well.

Chris, has the excess of sand become a blessing in disguise? Seems perfect of late now it has settled down. Almost have a Ruakaka in the Waikato now? 46mm of rain overnight and a D4

  10. My comment was really in response to your summary of 'no hope of breaking even' ! Sure its disappointing for the trainers and drivers ,especially the young ones hoping for a career but us owners are in the main 'losing'...its an expensive hobby....so we unlikely to be losing as numbers culled , sold to Aussie or racing in 7 horse fields. Tim has made that clear....he talks from experience . I too can talk you thru a bit of reality in that regard as well.

Liquid inspiration... if this horse replicates that fresh up run at Pukekohe it will be tough to roll, havnt seen the line savaged like that in a while. A few good ones in there for the old girl to beat as well

    The carnival is over

Gary - if you think it's a win/win then good for you but I don't see it as such. A poor product will ultimately rebound on the industry. It may be bulk funded, but only 8 races means owners (and trainers/drivers through percentages) have missed out on stakes from 1 or 2 races which I can't smile and say is a win.

If there were more posters who could submit intelligent posts like this, both in content and comprehension, the Race Cafe world would be a better place Damn, Tims got me going again "a world of my own, that no one else can share, a world far away from here, and I know that I'll find, I'll find peace of mind, in a world far away from here". The Seekers. I promise I didn't google it, am I close Tim? Mikie

  23. People are travelling to close, and speed limits are dropping... bad combination..it makes it hard to change lanes and the frustrated are overtaking and the ignorant are not letting them in particularly at passing lanes where slow drivers speed up when entering ( these people should lose their licences)courtesy is the only thing that can save us ,sharing our roads. We have to many people who dont give a shit about others, It started with Cyclists having conversations riding two abreast which opposes anything a sane person would do. People actually voted Green and let in Julie Anne Genter , im sure shes a nice person but she cant produce
