  1. I think the point RR is making is that you need a set of data to make decisions about ratings. I am a teacher, in charge of literacy at my school. When we try to find out if student X needs extra reading help we get as many data sets as possible, to see if they line up. Once we have 'franked the form', and confirmed our hunch, then we act. Something similar applies with these ratings which can be very useful.

    Colin Reeves

Ex Jockey and my uncle Colin Reeves passed away on Friday. Some older "cafers" may remember Colin from the 60s/70s.Colin was based around Timaru and Ashburton and rode for many good stables of the time. He was a very good apprentice and rode both flat and jumping races.Rode a few winners in some of the better winter carnivals and was top SI apprentice one year. Unfortunately Colin had a chequered career and was dogged by weight and alcohol problems, after a couple of assault charges at different racecources he was banned from all racecourses in NZ..After retiring as a Jockey he lead a colorful life with stints on the run from police and subsequently a couple of lags in the klink. He worked until 70 as couldn't afford not too and retired to Taumaranui a few years ago.Unfortunately his life was controlled by alcohol and shagging.Alcohol ruined his first marriage and since then he has left quite a few kids to a lot different woman. RIP Colin

I must say, none of the connections of Te Akau Racing had any input into this relegation or inquiry I am told that the rider was quoted as saying, we were beaten on our merits. If this was the case then surely it is time to have a serious look at the competency of the RIU and the JCA in this instance. This is not good enough in my opinion.

Yes, you are correct, but can you name any other Judicial Body that doesn't have an appeal process in place.I mean you can commit murder and appeal the decision. So what this says to me ,is the JCA is NEVER wrong and there is no need for any recourse by way of an appeal to any decision they make.WRONG WRONG

  15. More trouble for NZF . Who is the second conflicted minister? Wednesday, 20 November 2019, 5:46 pm Press Release: New Zealand National Party Today’s extraordinary performance by David Parker and Jacinda Ardern in Parliament raises even more questions about NZ First’s links to a shady Provincial Growth Fund application, National’s Regional Development spokesperson Chris Bishop says. “Yesterday in Question Time, Winston Peters talked about ‘both’ ministers declaring a conflict of interest in Future Forest Product Limited’s bid for $15 million of PGF funding. “We know Shane Jones was one of them, but who was the other minister and why is the Prime Minister and the Associate Minister of Finance not providing straight answers? “The Prime Minister was asked directly today ‘were there other ministers or under-secretaries who declared a conflict of interest in the matter being discussed?’ and she utterly failed to answer the question. “Multiple questions still hang over the Future Forest Products Limited application. While Shane Jones declared a conflict in October after returning from holiday, why did it take him so long to do this when the application began in March? “When was Mr Jones first aware of the application? What involvement did he have in the application while it was before the Provincial Development Unit?
