The trainers might not like it but it's perfect for the punters having a track that you know exactly how it's playing...no shifty irrigated ground on the rail3 points

M Hill was apprenticed to Graeme Sanders rode Rosetown Lad to win Wellington Derby 1983 beating Secured Deposit then week later second to Bound to Honour in WFA race and later rode Merman for same owner trainer Gill Taylor after G Chitty retired. Gary Dando and Murray Henderson were apprenticed to Sanders the same time.2 points -

Too much knowledge. I think the outsiders in all the top jobs get embarrassed by others who know much more than them. They will go with "the tried and true" approach of appointing someone who knows nothing about NZ Racing.2 points -

Its hard to understand what the Trainers and Owners want, Rotorua has a great track ,beautiful weather ,and a dead 4 could be better and with bigger racing coming up in the next month an ideal lead up. With 86 excepting and 29 scratchings the club must be wondering what do .Cheers BH1 point

Dear Tim (Vince) Now I know that you're not the greatest fan of the Northern Handicapper but let's leave that aside at the moment Let's focus on one Programme The Programme for the Manawatu Harness Racing Club's meetings on the 10th and 12th was put out by the Northern Handicapper sometime ago and I did look at it because I was somewhat interested as the racing contains 2 Heats of the Junior Drivers Championship I thought the Programme put out was excellent, giving 2 different distances for the Junior races, and leaving the balance of the horses as 40+ Ratings with the option to split them however they wanted to after nominations. They could have been split on Ratings whilst also taking cognisance of the fact that it would be stupid to have a race with 7 of the 8 starters being provided by Michael House. I thought that the 2 different distances for the Junior Drivers themselves was good I've just noticed that the Programme has been altered and it is now damn terrible. If you are a pacer rated from 40 to 48 the conditions force you into the Junior Drivers race which is now carded as one event to be split, which makes it over the same distance. Woe betide anyone that was planning to take a large number of lower rated horses for the 2 Junior Drivers races as if they are now split on Ratings all their lower Rated horses will be forced into the same race with the possibility of none in the alternative race (obviously impacting on Michael House the most at a guess). I called the new Programme terrible. On reflection it is worse than terrible, it is hopeless. I could not believe that the Northern Handicapper would put out a Programme and then alter it so drastically and for what appears to be no reason A little bit of homework seems to point to a local trainer having too much to say, possibly for his benefit and not the Clubs (certainly not SPD) This is Amateur hour Mikie1 point

Very true, and it looks like he has a bit of ability, mind you a wise man told me, Bing Crosby's brother couldn't sing a note, so we wait and see, and racing can be full of luck, both good and bad.1 point

Historically you may be on the mark. Somehow i think this board will ensure no repeat of previous disasters so lets wait and see. i might add that i would say its not the most enticing job to apply for given what they are inheriting Greg1 point -

Why would one choose to bet on shite fields like today. Gee racing clubs need a boot up their arse, transfer that date to Sth Island, think about what you are trying to sell................ a bet for the betting person, interesting fields, bit of form helps. Oamaru would be a good central venue down south today.1 point -
I'm only a punter so the politics of racing is not something I want to get into but what would be wrong with someone like Micheal Dore perhaps his knowledge and experiance on racing and TAB is something they are not looking for ,but as I say I'm only a punter, Cheers BH1 point

Not sure how many of them will be offered the $200,000+, most will probably have to one day start off in a $10,000 maiden. It does seem grossly unfair (incompetent) that the industry funds maiden races for four horses in the Waikato when there are probably at least 120 maidens and 65s in Canterbury who would happily turn out for a meeting today in Canterbury at Timaru or Ashburton. All the maidens who were eliminated during Cup Week don't have the luxury of tossing up between two meetings a day apart about 40 minutes drive away from each other.1 point -
The racing secretaries enter last driver when they have a spare moment over a coffee and then hope they don't have to change too many after declaration time. With the TAB's rule of no refunds at a later time pays to disregard the clubs advices until after driver declaration time - especially if you back drivers.1 point

Oh come on guys get out your dictionaries, look it up, you'll find it! and yes it is actually a word, perhaps not used as much now but is appropriate in certain contexts: 'agreeance. Noun. (uncountable) (obsolete) A state whereby two parties share a view or opinion; agreement'. you hear it more in council or legal meetings..... Mikie, that is entirely your choice to post or not to post if and when in agreeance or not..... Cheers Iraklis1 point -
They got to fill time I know but it's the bullshit they come out with , mapping this and that. , presents well this and that . In old days you look at field , go right that horse a front runner , that comes with late rattle . How will draw/track suit . Now every horse has to get mapped in a exact science in order .They no better selecting than most of us but fair credit to people that earn a living out of their hobby , good on them. When I head to races I sometimes after meeting go threw the selections grid , it's reassures me they are just as hopeless as me . Cheers me up no end after a poor day , misery loves company .1 point

It was a rating 65 horse racing out of its grade so what do you expect t when it’s one of the lowest rated horses in the field ? It’s formline is irrelevant. Your suggestion of a clubs committee would be open to the looking after your mates syndrome and doing favours etc no thanks .1 point

Sadly one couldn’t have expected anything different, given the state of our racing and the extremely slow pace of RITA. Of course it’s not necessarily their fault (RITA’s) given what they have inherited. I blame that fairly and squarely on the previous management and the Board made up of mainly National Party lackeys’.1 point

Haha so ignorant! One is heading for a treason trial while the other is ridding the world of evil while and at the same time handing out tax cuts. Globe your predictions have proved unbelievably inaccurate..remember Trump was supposed to be impeached or assassinated by now meanwhile Trump was a rock star at Davos! The words assassination and treason will soon be heard in the MTM. https://qcodefag.github.io/1 point
