Agree. However the other extreme is Bevan Sweeney. His questions are just answers and trainers are too polite to disagree. TV viewers want information FROM trainers and not just "Yes Bevan".3 points

Interviewer?

its pretty simple ,claydon is a knockabout bloke ,very well known and very knowledgable...the audience on tv and radio can tell straight away whether the host is legit or a tryhard...mark is one of the few who is genuine and not trying to suck up to others ,or trying to be everyones buddy......most of these on air tools seem to forget that the majority of the audience are racing people who know the business ,more than they do...yet they still talk rubbish or talk down to us.2 points -

Being pretty doesn’t necessarily make for a good Interviewer. First prerequisite would have to be a intimate knowledge of Racing. Think Bruce McIvaney, he has no peers when it comes to sporting knowledge - including Horse Racing.2 points -

kate gourdie has extensive knowledge of what counts in racing e.g fashion in the feilds ,facinators, champagne lawn ,whips and spurs ,te akau...mind you chris ,the utterly inane things that come out of rodley's mouth when talking to your peers is on a par with miss gourdie ....mark claydon would do a good job ,but he aint as pretty as kate ..sorry claydo ...and you know what mark rozzo would also be a good choice ,but same as claydo .2 points -

Is adequate what we require here? Australia doesn’t put up with mediocrity, so should we? Sadly, our whole industry from the top down has for a long time, hence the position we find ourselves in!1 point -
Point 4: never drink a Chardonnay cold , it kills the complex aromas. Point 10: really gets me as if you can’t hear what’s the point of being there, especially given point 9!1 point

In three days the Melbourne Cup will be run. The Melbourne Cup is probably the only race that businesses run a sweepstake on a horse race. For some years I have been an advocate for the TAB to develop a gaming product with Lotto to run on the Melbourne Cup. This would bring racing into the Lotto community and also give the sweepstakers an opportunity to win a major prize. I have raised this suggestion at several John Allen sessions only for it to be brushed off with the line we will consider it. NZ Racing is devoid of any growth ideas and strategies and it now may be too late to turn it around. Sadly we are now a sunset industry.1 point

Sit one out instead of going to the rail? It's the $3 favourite in a $2 million race, you don't need to ride for luck.1 point

Dargaville boy originally. Colorful past, good show rider, had jocks licence at one point and rode a few of his own hurdlers. By that pic he looks a lot like his Dad (Ian) as he gets older.1 point -

Yep I remember that The sandwich plate in the trainers room was empty so Bryce spoke to I think the club president of Pakenham?? to see if they could get the plate refilled , from what I can remember the Club President reacted rather negatively and told Bryce if he didn't like it take your horses and get out and Bryce said sweet az and did just that .1 point -

Pretty sure he got into a bit of strife in Aus because he scratched 3 horses from Pakenham when there were no sandwhiches available in the trainers room. May or may not have also got into strife in nz.1 point -
Fair play to Magic Wand, but gee, she was out on her feet that last 50, and if Melody Belle had been just a bit closer.......she must have given her 8-10 lengths on the turn...1 point

One of the reasons racing is failing.....

Disappointing indeed Berri...I too spent some time in that area and both there and throughout the place there seemed to be plenty of folk enjoying the place. I was taken by the number of TV 'stations' in close proximity giving excellent viewing. Toilets excellent , barista coffee top quality , yes limited food probablyOK for a racecourse ,would have gone to Silks for the best food , bar possibly limited but a gin is a gin but a cigar is a good smoke. I passed at least 3 x Board members during the day ..Sing ,Nakhle and Hutchison so I hope you communicated with them.Facilities certainly comfortable a good view of parade ring and race course . Shame your friends not going back , as I'll take a screw driver next time to attend to those troublesome locks/windows which I never experienced on the day..saw a bit of pigeon shit outside. Racing seemed pretty good .......I guess the bar choice not up to it. As you seem very passionate about racing I hope your feelings are communicated to the right folk .1 point -

flockofewes2 reacted to Red Rum for a topic
True Self QE2 Saturday , good draw, perfect trip , Moore up , Mullins polish on ., in form. Bonus prize I recall for those balloted out of Cup . Bet of the carnival OM . Magic Wand backing up in Mackinnon , stable don't mind racing them often . Appleby has pulled out Setting Sail, could be one to consider in Zipping Classic next week as running out of races .1 point -
One for the statistics Kolding’s win in the Golden Eagle race won his connections a $4 million stake. This is the highest stake ever won in one race by a NZ bred racehorse Lets give this achievement some publicity1 point

Nature Strip
flockofewes2 reacted to Red Rum for a topic
Hello LZ. Correct Nature Strip is a sprinter. It is clear due to the length of races it is entered up in , It was really just an off the cuff comment that if you've gone through 3 trainers and now have it at the champion of Victoria's yard maybe Mr Waller as champion of Sydney might be the other option. I am well aware of the others abilities as trainers and accord them the greatest respect for being the top of their chosen profession The caps lock , that I've been told by learned friends is in social media akin to shouting I will fully accept on the chin as a rebuke for not mentioning others. However although I am not employed by Mr Waller, having followed his success I would stick my neck out and say not every horse in his care has the same training routine everyday . He possibly employs different training regimes for the Who Shot the Barman's or Grand Marshall's of the yard as compared to the two champion sprinters he trained in Zoustar and Brazen Beau. Both of whom command healthy stud fees. Having had a good look at Nature Strip's record it appears maybe the owners had hand forced for first trainer change with the Robert Smeardon suspension. There probably are not many horses on forth trainer closing out 3 year old campaign but iam sure if digging is done a few could be found.1 point -
