The idiots running racing in both Australia and NZ should get on the front foot and act immediately, by banning the whip now, BEFORE it's too late. That's my opinion for what it's it worth. Sad but true there is very little time left. P.S. I have been an owner for 45 years and I KNOW that today's whips don't hurt the horses BUT IT'S ALL ABOUT PERCEPTION..3 points

Easy solution - ban the whip. And it will come - you can ban(k) on that.3 points

Not carrying a whip is like a builder going to work without a hammer! It is a necessity in the control of the animal!2 points -

Cup Day Fields
JJ Flash reacted to tasman man 11 for a topic
I totally agree with Mikie's reallocation of the stakes for Cup Day. As pointed out the supporting races have gone nowhere for decades ,hence less horses from North and Deep south and maybe less interest from Punters in those regions.1 point -
Aalaalune

and with a Reliable Man filly winning the VRC Oaks today, Aalaalune's connections will do well to exercise some patience and avoid racing the guts out of her before the autumn.1 point -
Cup Day Fields

I see Chanel 10 in Australia paid $100mil for broadcast rights to the Melbourne Cup. Imagine if the Met could get half of 1per cent of that for the trotting cup, every race could be worth 50 k and the cup 1mil. Oh well, dreams are free.1 point -
Why not have some ex-jocks or trainers in the studio on a big day like Cup day when they have time to fill in and they can talk about what the race is like to ride in or train for? Rather than the presenters read out the market over and over with meaningless comments added in and talking down to the audience. Over in Oz they have Peter Moody, Corey Brown etc making interesting commentary. Corey isn't afraid to point out bad rides and tactical errors, you'd never see that type of forthright opinion from our presenters, it's all very bland and colourless.1 point

TDN article titled "a whip free days racing in Norway " is worth a read , it appears the Norwegians have put a lot of thought and research into it all. According to Walter Buick in an interview it changes the way races are run quite a bit . He rode there during changes and also is William Buick's dad so he knows his stuff . There is a point racing will need to hold firm and be confident about its actions , in Aussie its scrambling at moment and the anti racing radicals smell blood .The Grand National was gone for all money , with a close working relationship with the RSPCA, holding firm against the tide it's turned the corner and protests down popularity up . Last 5 years be close run thing but I think less horses have died in GN than Melbourne Cup and GN has 40 runners .The GN course imho is now a safer course than the Mildmay course at Aintree as they fly round that at times and I've seen some crunching falls on it . The best thing to do for racing is engage fully with the moderate animal welfare groups such as SPCA etc.1 point

if the racing heads were to control the narrative... and speak forth... "this move to ban whips is to lessen the penalties regarding jockeys" at least this way... it silences the animal rights nutters... and removes any would be pressure.. by simply controlling the narrative!! what will the animal rights nutters then have to moan about?? Perhaps a win win situation.. if executed properly *winks1 point

Cup Day Fields
Amati Nidol reacted to Mikie for a topic
Hi Amati I like my figures with the Club just not charging Acceptance fees which is a rort The increases in entrance fees (for the humans) alone would cover this Thank you for taking the time to actually name horses that you think would come for $50,000 stakes from Southland I am sorry but my current knowledge of racehorses in the Deep South isn't as good as yours Mikie1 point -
Aalaalune racing in Race 2 at Te Rapa on Saturday. Maiden 3yo 1600m. More suitable assignment. Full sister De La Terre is in the first at Te Rapa on Saturday. Failed to load at Trentham on October 26 and Steward’s Report stated she has to trial before racing again. She has not trialled since so I fail to see how she can be able to start.1 point

The fact he is a narcissist and raving egomaniac means he will not go Weasel until they drag him out screaming and kicking..." witch hunt, the polls were rigged, everybody loves me really, I'm the best President EVER.....yada yada....." Americans have woken up and will take their country back......1 point

Sign of the times. As with a lot of problems in the industry - too late, the horse has bolted.1 point

I’d like to see the horse be disqualified out of a stakes bearing position the trainers will soon be telling the jockey to heed the whip rules .1 point

Lights My therory is two things that the TAB has done that is a huge makes a huge differance is no freeview and also not betting from Aussie into NZ on their web site .If this was allowed it would jam up the dog web site and crash. So they are happy with all their eggs in one basket with Sky with the old promo of news flash we have just had $100000 bet on blah blah . I thought yesterday we would have had more criticism about the usual drivel on trackside but I think we are at a stage were its oh well thats as good as it gets . We dont get anything new or exciting ,just same old same old. Emily ,Rodley and the other condescending prat Tan burbled onand on with Emily who unfortunately has been around Rodley and Tan for to long and has got verbal drivel .While she was waitng for the recording of the horses in the birdcage she paddled on and on about how exciting it will be when we cross over for the MC and how excited are you Aidan and tell us how exciting is it going to the MC Aidan FFS.We missed the jockey intro's and the horses preliminary's I don't no why Racing .com does not have a pop up channel here. The NZ trotting cup day has a freeview pop up channel on cup day I dont follow the trots but I'm sure it will be well received and the turn over will be up.I've got a headache cheers BH1 point

I hear Richard brosnan last runners Friday. A man of high integrity who never took a backward step.on a personal note a man who stood by me in tough times and I have never forgotten.who could forget no response and bonnies chance. I hope all in the industry recognize hs achievements.I know he don't want a fuss but I hope the atc has plans to recognize his career.1 point

She was simply telling them that she isn’t ready for this yet. Young horses are generally not stupid, even if the owner appears to be, based on the way he has handled Aalaaline. De La Terre will be a good horse if they back off now for 6 months or more. Let’s see what happens.1 point
