Guess the fat cat trainers and studs in the Waikato would love nothing better than the world revolving around them.

    Ride Like A Girl

For those of you who like a good movie, go and see “Ride Like A Girl”, the highest grossing Australian made movie this year. It’s a great story of a large Catholic family of 12, sadly reduced to 11 following the death of the mom in a car accident. A lot of laughs, drama and an insight to the difficulty encountered by a woman in what was a man’s world. Not any more! Without woman jockeys racing would be stuffed! Go see the movie - it’s a ripper.

Sadly, there won't be any admissions of error. The track closure notion has been beloved of Jackson and Saundry from well before the Messara report, and also held by some of the bigger names in the training ranks. Clearly, J.M was ill-advised on several issues.

Hilarious tripe. Karl had the place immaculate. Id say his years at Te Ngutu would be a slight advantage over your knowledge (remember your an unknown hiding behind a username so we wouldnt have a clue what your credentials are). Ive been at three of the last 6 spring meetings and the track has been great. You’re not from NP by any chance? Sorted out that council issue?? Fancy sitting on tender hooks over a pointless name change. Oh well image over substance is the way now. Lol.

    Jacinda Ardern

An influential United States Congress hearing has been told "one of the major fundraisers for Jacinda Ardern's party" is linked to the Chinese Communist Party and it showed China had penetrated New Zealand's political networks. As a result, US lawmakers needed to consider whether New Zealand should be kicked out of the Five Eyes intelligence alliance because of problems at its "political core". In early 2008, Ardern was elected as the President of the International Union of Socialist Youth, a role which saw her spend time in several countries, including Jordan, Israel, Algeria and CHINA Ardern has called capitalism a "blatant failure" due to the extent of homelessness in New Zealand . She advocates a lower rate of immigration, suggesting a drop of around 20,000–30,000. Calling it an "infrastructure issue", she argues, "there hasn't been enough planning about population growth, we haven't necessarily targeted our skill shortages properly". However, she wants to increase the intake of refugees. How's the homeless and immigration going ?? Cindy certainly fits the bill of a globalist (more refugees ) and a communist supporter .

Pretty hard to disagree with any of that. And am a bit disappointed that we are yet to see Rita come out and say something like: "yes, we acknowledge that not all of the Messara recommendations may have been well thought through and we are revisiting some of them."

Back to its best?? Jeez what have you been watching. Last year it was a firm track again and brilliantly presented. The new caretaker has carried on the great work of Karl Stratton (the previous caretaker, now President) who had the place looking like Augusta. But it doesnt matter now eh. The "2 minute wonders" have got what they want from Mr Messaras drive thru assessment of NZ racing and will think that closing down the likes of Hawera (who actually own their land - it is NOT the councils!) is the best thing for our industry. What I look forward to are those clubs who survive (for now) and the pressures they will be under. They will have NO EXCUSES for poor turnover or small crowds. None at all. But the formula will bring prosperity (Tui ad). When they do not come up trumps thats when things get really interesting. Who goes next?? New Plymouth? Pukekohe? Otaki? All second tier courses who are 4th tier achievers. Its going to be an amusing decade ahead. Who will be the first to admit they were wrong to get rid of our better clubs of today?

    Are races getting faster?

Nearco, the Kenyan in question ran his marathon with the help of pacemakers that took him through the 2 hour barrier. The Japanese horses equally have pacemakers making the races a real speed test hence the 1.31 miles etc. Back in the 80s -90s in NZ there were consistent sub 1.09 / 1.22 / 1.34 / 2.01 1200-2000m , Bonecrusher went under 1.59 and we saw 1.20 1400ms on numerous occasions, Diamond lover /Courier bay breaking 1.08 at Ellerslie, and of course kotare chief/ sea swift / Darias fun running around 3-15 for 3200....Not running as quick now one would say

    In my view

Think the problem with it all is what suits the South doesn't necessarily suit the North.

    In my view

Sub committees should not be making decisions that affect racing. Yes, they can make suggestions but these should be referred back to the clubs/interested parties (owners/trainers/horsemen) before decisions are made willy nilly by one or two people who it appears think they know or are told by authorities they know more/better than those directly involved in the industry.

Got to say that is one nice track. Wow perfect. Maybe if it sells maybe goes into private ownership and have there own race days. What an appropriate track for pre training. What a waste having it closed and not used for anything

    BARREL RUNNER

I thought so and that about sums it all up. Have a look at the dogs record, one win but plenty of times in the money. It must have made that one misjudgment one day. Such a shame as the dog obviously has ability. I have no idea if it is an import but this is the new NZ greyhound racing. Watch Aus racing and see the sad level it has descended to with most fields unable to be filled and many many of the dogs playing or fighting. Even sadder is that it is now accepted that most of those will be immediately shipped to NZ. Even more proof that our sport in NZ is on a steeper downward slope than Aus are finding themselves on. At least they have an escape route for the flotsam that we do not.
