Yes, 1st August. First day of the 19/20 racing season. Whoever won the most races, the most money, rode the most winners, ran the fastest times etc, etc is all gone now. All back to square #1. Ain’t it funny that it’s a psychological barrier too. How the old season finished is not necessarily how the new one will start. Who will star this year? Who will disappoint? Who will come from obscurity and sweep all before them? What babies plodding around now will play a major part in the $1million races after Christmas. What sadness and heartbreak will befall some of our stars, equine and human ?– because there will be that too. In the end we accept all these things because we are realistic, are married to this sport for better or worse and are eternal optimists whatever fate befalls us, so lets just get on and back an outsider, put our faith in a cheap sales purchase, back our own judgement, play the odds and enjoy not only the Sport of Kings but the King of Sports. In the last race tonight when u had a 40 to 42 race obviously close in ability did the handicapper allow a 49 that clearly had 2 other options. like with like ignored..the 49 won easy..a condition was put in to allow a one won mare on 49 eligibility.this is not a rating system.the other horses shafted .

I see that the TAB have quietly shut up shop on the money back if your horse runs in the first 4 promotion they have run succesfully over the last couple of month. It used to be on selected weekday and weekend meetings for the first two races and then they downsized it to one meeting and as of this week it is gone. A promotion like this was great as it did get me looking at the first few races on meetings I might not have actively betted on and it also promoted me to fill the coffers with more money than I usually would to have a good crack at those races first up. Dissappointing to see it gone, hopefully it will be back! Anyone else feel that a positive promotion like this should be kept going?

Not sure who gets job of pricing the ante post markets for Melb Cup , TAB had Belgravia at 301 and Ladbrokes AU had Sir John Lavery at big odds last night . Both poor horses dead for quite a while so probably a bit skinny at those odds .

It's almost like the powers that be at the TAB, sit back and say to themselves; "Righto lads, we've got a good thing going here, seems to be working well. So how can we bugger it up? Ok, yip, sounds good, let's do that." Don't go fixing something that isn't broken. Like the old promotion (refund up to 4th and tote option included), and the old website. "What's that Thad, the terminating pick 6's were proving popoular? Hit 'em on the head. Don't want them, get rid of them." Can't go giving the punters what they want. Can't have that.

Yes...porky I've received 3 or 4 $30 bonus bets from the TAB in the past 3 months. Ironically that's what got me started back in April. Bonus Bet $30 at Te Rapa on Shezallmine @ 12-1. Of course the TAB don't lose...they deduct the $30 bonus Bet from any winnings.

Why change a winning formula TAB ???? They got me punting constantly on all three codes over the past 3 months or so with Money Back Madness Promo! 1. First Two Races for each meeting nominated on all three codes 2. Refund up to $30 on any win bet fixed or tote. Easy Promo...why change? 9 times out of 10 I would carry on through to the end of the day once in that mode. They got a few $ K's turnover out of me over this promotional period too.....obviously turnover is not a TAB priority? Cya another time TAB!

Or in TAB case a horse is still a chance 4 months after its death . Haven't seen the race , saw it was a few lengths off winner but certainly Thatz Daisy would need to carry top weight in the snail and tortoise race . 10 bucks the place good on the connections hope they got a bit of it .

I gather it is first two races at Riccarton on Saturday. Two changes: it has to be fixed odds, and your selection must run 2nd or 3rd to get your bet back. 4th is not included. Still up to $30.

Luke (along with the rest of the Boys Get Paid admin team) has done more for racing (especially in the past 3-4 years) than what a lot of people realise. The events that have been organised around the country (and Australia (Cox Plate trip)) is a credit to them, and there would not be a single racing club in NZ that would turn them away. No intelligent one anyway. They bring passion, provide content and a bit of pizazz to their members and the general racing population. They have over 14,000 people in their Facebook group. Admittedly not all members are hard core racing folk, but they have a solid base all the same. And they do not accept anyone and everyone just to boost their numbers, it is a closed group with some people not accepted into it. Admin's discretion like any closed Facebook group. Some achievements: Had over 300 people attend Karaka Million 2019. Aiming for 600 next year. Ran a punter's club with $178k for their members around the country. Ran a 10 week punters comp (King of Spring). Launched the Being Good People foundation. Achieved over 100,000 views of video content. Acquired a decent share in a weanling on a pin hooking exercise. Provided ownership opportunities for gallopers, in NZ and Oz, and even a greyhound syndicate has been formed. Won prize at the nz racing awards gig. Registered their own set of silks for NZ and Oz. Created a very popular website that is continuously updated. A Boys Get Pad app is currently being created. Doing cool shit like creating a link where all group 1 Racing may be added automatically to ones calendar in their cellphone. Very good instagram account. For you oldies, that's like a telegram but with pictures and sound. Apparel merchandise is available. Successful podcast. Many other plans are already in place, or currently being developed. And don't forget..... this is NOT Luke's day job. It's not about spending $50 million on a lemon of a website. It's about content, passion and positivity. And giving the punters what they want. "Go the lads"!

UMC "carlos" is on his way back.. Kirstin Barclay is looking to Winton for start of season for him 8.9.19 then the big boys in the Hannon at Oamaru. looking forward to see if he measures up this season as the Cup may become realistic after the Hannon.(for Iraklis....wowee can"t wait)

Salt and pepper , are you named after condiments or the old rap band . As mentioned in previous threads they don't have enough highweights for me to ride .They would need to be highhigh weights . OK spent a bit on racing in past , punted for decades , been to races all over the world , accept when Iam in the wrong, but cannot have an opinion according to you . Right to make you happy , every horse is a champion , every jockey good and never makes mistakes , every trainer good and never makes mistakes , all breeders make right mating , all tracks are the best and iam not luckily but if I was hard up and can only afford to have a dollar ew once a day but love the game I SHOULD NOT have an opinion on racing . Hope unless your premier league footballer or All Black you don't have opinion on football or rugby.

I'm happy for it to be first three rather than first 4. That still entices me to have a punt but don't downsize the amount of options they make available. I'm pleased that they have Riccarton up now. but what about the Harness and Dogs? Next week they say. Too hard for this week obviously.... This promotion is a good one, TAB. Keep it going!
