  2. In my opinion this guy is innocent . He should never have been placed in a position where his demeaner would make him an easy target if things went wrong , at the time do gooders promoting different lifestyles were in full swing so he was placed in a position which must have had dangers for him , I suspect Ellis is the victim here . "" The controversy began when a mother, who was a sexual abuse counsellor and whose son attended the crèche, phoned the supervisor, Gaye Davidson and accused Ellis of sexual abuse, saying her son had mentioned Ellis's penis. The original complainant mother approached more creche parents and warned them with details of what was allegedly going on. She placed her child in another facility where, soon afterwards, she alleged abuse by another male daycare worker. These allegations were found to be groundless.""" The behaviour of one of the investigating police officers can't have helped either , he was out to impress the available young mothers . So the mother who originally complained moved her child to another creche and then accused another day care worker of similar crimes , These allegations were found to be groundless . Sounds very suspect to me .

I was at Trentham for that 1970 Wellington Cup win Crusty and the year prior when he finished second behind City Court and there is plenty of people who suggest he should have won the Cup in 1969 as well. Il Tempo was certainly a great stayer finishing with strong bursts over the closing stages from back but one of his wins that will always stick in my mind was his win in the 1970 Trentham Stakes. As mentioned he always settled back and ran over the top of the field in the straight. Well he went out favourite for the race and to everyone's surprise instead of getting back he actually set the pace and led the smallish field and was still leading at the 300m. At that point the others ran past him and he found himself last at the 200m and the crowd were stunned. But he then picked himself up again and sprinted past them all to win the race much to the crowd's delight. It was a talking point of the whole day of what had occurred.

  6. I see Sky City getting is in bed with the Malta money launderers setting up a rogue online gambling casino targeting New Zealanders. Why is this allowed to happen yet small punters at the TAB are being asked to follow draconian measures all in the name of money launderering. Sky City has always had politicians in its pockets but I haven't studied the current settup. No doubt Judith Collins with her previous casino oversight roles is right into it. I would say Sky Casino is deeply in with the National party. Its just a hop and step away from Sky City offering sports betting from Malta. I see DIA is considering banning the use of credit cards for online gambling in response to the Malta project. This may impact on the TAB being banned from accepting credit cards. Very murky situation and a disgrace that Sky City will probably be allowed carte blanche gains from money laundering whilst NZ racing administrators sleep at the wheel. I

    NZTR APPLICANTS POLL

Luke (along with the rest of the Boys Get Paid admin team) has done more for racing (especially in the past 3-4 years) than what a lot of people realise. The events that have been organised around the country (and Australia (Cox Plate trip)) is a credit to them, and there would not be a single racing club in NZ that would turn them away. No intelligent one anyway. They bring passion, provide content and a bit of pizazz to their members and the general racing population. They have over 14,000 people in their Facebook group. Admittedly not all members are hard core racing folk, but they have a solid base all the same. And they do not accept anyone and everyone just to boost their numbers, it is a closed group with some people not accepted into it. Admin's discretion like any closed Facebook group. Some achievements: Had over 300 people attend Karaka Million 2019. Aiming for 600 next year. Ran a punter's club with $178k for their members around the country. Ran a 10 week punters comp (King of Spring). Launched the Being Good People foundation. Achieved over 100,000 views of video content. Acquired a decent share in a weanling on a pin hooking exercise. Provided ownership opportunities for gallopers, in NZ and Oz, and even a greyhound syndicate has been formed. Won prize at the nz racing awards gig. Registered their own set of silks for NZ and Oz. Created a very popular website that is continuously updated. A Boys Get Pad app is currently being created. Doing cool shit like creating a link where all group 1 Racing may be added automatically to ones calendar in their cellphone. Very good instagram account. For you oldies, that's like a telegram but with pictures and sound. Apparel merchandise is available. Successful podcast. Many other plans are already in place, or currently being developed. And don't forget..... this is NOT Luke's day job. It's not about spending $50 million on a lemon of a website. It's about content, passion and positivity. And giving the punters what they want. "Go the lads"!

Memphis 2 you are correct. Only four ran. Il Tempo won by a length from Honour Me with half a length to Campanile. Proud Chief ran fourth.

Interesting that the Marxist Phil Goff couldn’t see it the same way. The Guy should be paid out by those who constructed this injustice, his cancer is undoubtably a result of the stress he has endured

  13. Simon smith is having his first drive as a junior on Friday night on Flashazz at addington. As a owner I can see to keep these young guys in the game they need some sort of incentive, he has done the job at the trials and I've seen how hard he works at the stable. He won't drive the horse every start but every now and then I'll throw him a bone. The decision to give him the drive was purely mine as a owner i even dropped John in doing so, win ,lose or draw he will get another go.

  15. the list you are looking at is for last year. I think (but can't guarantee) Ben Butcher is now an open driver, Blakemore is in ?Europe on an OE, Isherwood no longer in Industry (Police?) Kaleb Bublitz is latest to get license (driving first tomorrow night) That leaves just 10 - hardly a comfortable position and as HSV contends with a gleam in his eye no one would want to come north to where no races for Juniors likely to be programmed for this number and of the names you list Tobereone Whittaker & Smith have ventured north and could well return south if opportunities dry up. And looking at prospects (young trials drivers) only about 4 of then registered but again that from last years list. Here's a couple of "incentives" for HSVMan to ponder. As the ranks of Amateur's appear also to have dwindled, combine these races with horses driven by Juniors also included to make up full fields (Amateurs race not run Cambridge this week - yes, it was a Reserve race but only 6 nominations received) Or pay Juniors a reduced stake percentage all races (or races of up to say 12 thou stakes total} and dispense with Juniors only races which would give owners an incentive to put up a junior.

You are kidding aren’t you? You can’t really put The Donald in with that lot. I would have thought another high achieving influential woman would have been more appropriate? I can think of a few who would fit in nicely. Annastasia Palaszczuk, Stormy Danials, Monica Lewinsky, to name a few. A-Pal spiraled Qld into debt and the highest unemployment in Oz, Danials made The Donald look like a real man and Monica went down on both knees for POTUS! All worthy of a spot on the front page IMHO.

  18. I have two mares from this family, whilst not black type horses, they have left plenty of winners. Blancpain, the best of them and all hers to race have won. It was witnessing Il Tempo winning the Cups that prompted me to get in the family, backed up of course by Show Gate and her wonderful deeds. I just need to breed one with a bit of the class of those two horses and I would be happy. cheers John

  19. RIP Noel Riordan, Rode over jumps as well , real gentleman , there will be some great stories told this week. Noel's record could have been better too. Miss J Edgar-Jones offered Noel the ride on Sailing Home but he already had a ride so he suggested brother John who went on to win an Akld Cup and the big International race at Te Rapa amongst many others

Many years ago was at Avondale and ND rode one that drew 18 over 1400 - I had $20 each way a huge bet then, 35 years ago plus, it was outside the leader after 300 yards and won by 3 lengths, I collected $1500 and my annual salary was $6500 - still feel the pain of the celebrations Thanks ND
