    How

Gary you need to take into account when making comments of who the top northern trainers are the likes of the class of dog they have access to either dogs that are bought by owners who can afford to out lay the dollars or have the breeding set up to produce litters which gives them a better chance of getting good dogs to train. There are a number of trainers in the north who I view do a excellent job with the type of dog they race. Keeping in mind that a number of them are racing 2nd tier dogs from the 2 biggest breeders in NZ. Gary cant undersatnd how you left the Craiks off your list they have been one if not one of the best trainers in the North for the last 30 odd years. Anyway Gary I fear for the future of the northern region as there are not enough the younger generation taking it on the costs of land etc to set up is just to much and the money is not there to meet comitments. Also the board are making far reaching decesions which will come back and bite them in the ass i.e. import fees which I feel they are being leaned on by outside influences.

    Bet from last weeks comp

I thought it was a good all round effort by the Trentham team last week, especially against a tough Waterlea team! Don't know about the rest of the team but I've been walking rather "gingerly (welts like an anchor rope)all week after that severe slapping ala Dittman style from El Capitaino to lift us over the final furlong!!Was there anything in the stripes report? Anyway,a couple for today if I may Scooby. Rosehill R7 $20 Q #3-6 Eagle Farm R7 #1 Benfica Princess $30 win Cheers and good punting team

    How

Interesting I would have said that from that list of trainers the majority of the dogs they all raced are bred, reared & trained by themselves so a fairly even depth of dog available to each of them. The quality of broodie/sire is of personal choice ( we all have different opinions on what is a “good bloodline”) after that I imagine it’s the quality of food and effort they put into them to get the end result.

    SUBZERO

Melbourne Cup winner and Australian racing's great servant Subzero continues to be in a fight for life, with the coming days crucial. The 1992 Melbourne Cup winner remains hospitalised in Bendigo, not far from where he resides with his great mate Graham Salisbury. The Victorian Equine Group provided this update on the 30-year-old on Facebook on Thursday night."Subzero is continuing to receive treatment at the Bendigo Equine Hospital," the update read."He is being treated with continuous intravenous fluids and medications to address problems with the function of his kidneys. Subzero is responding well to our treatment and his kidney function has improved today [Thursday]."Today, he has also been diagnosed with peritonitis; an infection of his abdominal cavity which is likely associated with his episode of colic last Sunday. Subzero is being treated with intravenous antibiotics and treatment of his abdomen. "Subzero's response to treatment over the next 24-48 hours will be important. At present, although he has a lot to contend with, he is comfortable and trying hard. "We all remain optimistic, and will ensure he receives the best of care and medical management to nurse him back to health."

    NEW TAB RESTRICTIONS

It's plain stupidity if they think that will stop money laundering. Just one way (there are others) $5,000.00 to clear Just make say ten deposits into one of the those automatic machines (not at the same time) getting 10 betting vouchers and then cash them in at different times where and whenever later. Different TABs or on-course. They wouldn't even have to have a bet. All this is really doing is inconveniencing law abiding regular punters.

  17. so collect $999 multiple times then. About as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike. The previous Govt tried and succeeded in turning NZ into a money laundering centre. They've all run away now, it was too obvious and had to be addressed..The Panama papers were very revealing.
