  1. I have been flitting between CNN, BBC Al Jazeera and Russian Tv all about this monumental meeting between the North Korean man and The Donald. I look carefully at the body language, and what I see is that The Donald is actually one of the great statesmen of my time. I think he can get things done. Go back to late October 2016; I was hoping that what I thought was a narcissistic mug would get the presidency because I hated, loathed and despised that corrupt bitch, Hillary. Trump is no narcissistic mug. I was wrong on that score. He is proving to be a huge surprise. I look forward to the moment when New Zealand's main stream media are relieved of their collective "Trump Derangement Syndrome". It is totally uncalled for and merely makes them look infantile and very silly. Whilst this monumental widely covered discussion was going on TV1 had a programme about Fleetwood Mac. Yeah, right.

  2. Jockeys are “given” $300 but as yet some haven’t received it from the start of the season. I think more jumps races and at least one high weight each jumps day would be more incentive for jockeys. We have some loyal jockeys that come year in year out and it would be nice to increase that pool, if the jockeys come the horses will come and the fields will improve. JumpsNZ used to have such a voice at this time of the year, encouraging owners, incentives (we even got a all expenses paid trip to Trentham with our horse one year), and open discussion on how to improve things. We hope that this can return.

  3. He and Glenda should have to hand over their passports until Internal Affairs has done a thorough audit of exactly where all the money they allegedly spent on this piece of shit masquerading as a betting website went.

  4. compare that to John Allen's message on the NZRB website last week. Both the CEO and Chair of the NZRB showing 100% that they have no idea of the current state of the NZ Racing Industry and would be certified as showing clear signs of having a delusional mind by anyone who knew the true actual state of the NZ Racing Industry. Indications of signs of delusionality (not an actual word but neither has Allen or Hughes been of any actual benefit to the NZ Racing Industry) highlighted in bold so you can make your own minds up as to whether certification requires a 2nd opinion. Part of John Allen's message last week. “ The outgoing Board are leaving the organisation on a strong footing, equipped to be able to deliver increased returns to the industry on the back of a competitive betting platform, solid technology and world leading presentation of racing content.” A MESSAGE FROM NZRB CHAIR, GLENDA HUGHES Good morning, Having presided over the final Board meeting as Chair of the New Zealand Racing Board on Wednesday, and as the organisation prepares for its next phase under a new Board, I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the tremendous support you have provided the Board and I over the past five years. It has been an honour to have led this organisation through a period of major change. I am hugely proud of the work we have undertaken together to oversee the most significant period of transformation the TAB has ever seen ( don't think Glenda was involved with overseeing RITA in any area and the TAB dosn't actually exist). This is an organisation full of exceptionally talented people from our Trackside crew and TAB retail staff, everyone at our offices around the country, to our excellent Chief Executive and management team. I’m immensely proud the Board is leaving the NZRB in a much stronger position than we inherited (Glenda's delusional ratings just crashed due to overload) . Many of the decisions the Board have made over the years have been challenging, involving careful consideration of the benefits and risks, and often requiring robust debate amongst the Board (robust debate = dinner at the West Palza or James Cook Hotels). But as I look back at these calls, I can be confident in the knowledge that the investment in FOB, our cloud-based technology platform and the broadcasting of racing in HD were not only the right decisions but will prove to be critical to the long-term sustainability of the industry. I’d like to recognise the dedication and passion of the outgoing Board - Graham Cooney, Rod Croon, Greg McCarthy, Mauro Barsi and Bill Birnie (who carries on under RITA). They worked tirelessly for the NZRB and the industry over their time at the helm and proved to be a tremendous Board. I would also like to acknowledge former Board members Alistair Ryan, Barry Brown and Liz Dawson (who returns under RITA). Alistair and Liz were there when I first started and guided me through some very difficult times, and Barry joined the Board at a time when we needed his special area of expertise. The NZRB (or Racing Industry Transition Agency as it will soon be known) will continue to play a critical role in supporting racing and sport in New Zealand. I know the past year has created some unease and uncertainty for many of you as our organisation and industry evolves, yet all of you show up everyday and work tirelessly for the industry - I’ve always appreciated that. I really enjoyed the communications I have had with many of you. Your openness, honesty and willingness to make things work has been really helpful and refreshing. On behalf of the Board and I, I wish you all the very best of success and I look forward to the TAB continuing to grow and prosper, enabling the long-term future of our industry. There are no barriers out there, just things to get done. And you have shown the capabilities needed to make it happen and I am confident you will continue to do so. Warm regards, Glenda All those things you have mentioned would indicate that you must think that the appointment and reasoning why the Racing Minister has set up RITA is not needed. When your in charge of an organisation and Industry and read comic books far better financial reports and balance sheets there is only one end result and its not a pretty one. Today July 1st 2019 the birth of some new hope for the NZ Racing Industry and lets hope they get it right as there will be no 2nd attempt.

  5. Pam Robson you have a good memory! Brown Satin won a Highweight at Invercargill on the 7/10/72 ridden by Ali Robinson. Four starts later they combined to win the NZ Oaks from Rose Mellay ridden by Gus Clutterbuck. A quinella for Mellay.

  7. Good to see you now looking for solutions for our fading industry John. Dunno if galloping grizzlies can help much though I impressed they were watching 'harness' but maybe thats because most of the participants are strong in galloping......Rogerson ,Northcott ,Wenn ,Cameron ,Medcalfe to name a few !I used to live in a galloping district too but then they woke up one year and most had left. Dunno if that code is travelling so well these days either .......many cynics had a field day with recent happenings like tracks ,postponements ,lack of jockeys and the jumping races fuel that fire...had to roll the eyes in a recent jumps race at Wingatui when two of the field just slipped on the track at Puddle Alley corner ,apparently never to be seen again ! Any way, Harness in the North faces greater challenges...the two big ones are the solvency of the ATC and the lack of horses to even hold the races ! Had the South Island horses not arrived of late ,meetings would have been canned at ATC. The ongoing stench of INCA and the Government's [and public's] growing dislike of 'gambling on horses' not helping . I'm sure Jack was pleased ATC held a 'proper' meeting on Friday with 5 of the eight races being won by $1.20 to $1.50 favourites and two at $3.- something, races being processions of 6 horse fields ! Then there's the small issue of only a few senior drivers getting a handful of drives with DButcher,JDickie and Poutama getting one each while only 4 x juniors got a drive [ 1 got 2].Then who will be training in the North in a few years with some of the big breeders/syndicators asking if its worth continuing. Keep those ideas coming John. But don't pay too much attention to the galloping grizzlies !

  8. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. John Key so hated the racing world that he gave the racing world Nathan Guy, Glenda Hughes and John Allen. John Key; a real cruel bastard.

  9. John Allen most certainly deserves to be sued. But he must not be sued. The costs of taking a legal action against him would be horrendous. It would be another case of sending good money after bad money. But the name of the recruitment firm who recommended this dickwit, at great expense, must be disclosed. Punters, who are also in business, need to know the names of charlatans involved. My sharebroker told me to avoid Fonterra when they dropped to $4.70. I want to know the name of the recruitment form, so that business associates and me can avoid them. They have proven themselves to be incompetent.

  12. There is another very good horse up in Hong Kong by the name of AETHERO. He is a 2yo by Sebring and is a half brother to Classique Legend who has had four starts in Sydney for three wins and a third including winning a G2 at his last start. Aethero has started twice in Hong Kong winning very easily both times and lines up tomorrow night in R8 at 8:40pm. He has drawn the outside gate of fourteen at 1200m and is taking on the older horses so well worth a watch.

    TAB TIME PLEASE

One of the top ten dumbest things about the new website is it has no clock. Ridiculous when EVERY event they offer has a start time. More evidence that the people who built this thing have absolutely no clue what they are doing. Real basic stuff. Will be costing them shit-tons.

  15. Well done Scoobie, you put a lot in to these fine comps and great to see you get a good result today, And well done of course to your team-mates Camacho and Bazza ! A trio comp was a great idea Maria ….it's good to follow the results of our team-mates race by race, so even if our own selections miss we can bask in the success of a team-mate.

  17. When you consider that we have seen good and dead tracks at Oamaru, Timaru and Waimate over the last few weeks, and Ashburton is currently showing dead for this coming week, then I would consider building an all-weather track at Riccarton to be possibly the first equal stupidest waste of money I have ever seen in Racing. And yes, I am pretty sure Wingatui would not normally have raced at this time of the year, it would normally have been a jumps meeting at Oamaru.

  18. The name has been decided, Voltaire’s Secret, proposed by High Sparrow. Please send me your email address and I will send the forms that need to be filled out for your 5% share. Candide, who is Between You And Me’s grandam, was also the name of Voltaire’s first published work. Voltaire’s estate was on the Swiss border and he was an ace writer. Thanks for all of your input, two unlucky candidates were Swoopa ( Careless Whisper) and Gruff ( Court In The Act) as both names were already taken and they were my first two choices.

    Bob Jones on Israel Folau

The madness of these lefties: Folau is saying that unless one repents then after death in some other state and some other time then one will be punished for these acts. Yet there is another religion who would kill you right now (and are) for doing these acts and they say nothing....in fact they endorse this religion. The sheer utter hypocrisy!!

    TRIXTON

Looking at the fields at the Meadowlands on Friday there are 3 races for 2 year old trotters, 2 x fillies, 1 x Colts. Each race has 9 starters and every single one is by Trixton. It could be that only progeny of stallions standing in New Jersey are eligible for these races, but even so that seems quite incredible
