Cheers Tasman and Col , the highlight on the day for me was the cheer Spellbound got when she was called in second. On the day 675 owners were represented on the track of which 250 were involved with Spellbound , next year I want 350.

    UMC still at it

When he won at Addington which seems along time ago I didn't rate him that high until I spoke to John Dunn after the race , he was in ore of the speed he showed when he breezed past. That's good enough for me.

yes Westview.it s the manner of his wins which excites most of us. Many horses string 2 or 3 wins togetherand the owners and friends can get naturally optimistic they may have a buuding champion. However having watched 1000s of very promising horses it is rare to see one like UMC HE IS SPECIAL and after 6 from 6 any distance/any comp/stand/mobile He just appears a pacer who while still learning to race has untapped potential.A big plus is the owner will not sell "at any price"Lets hope he can get the general public intersted in harness racing as only champions can do.

Just like the Tbs it's clear that syndication gets more people involved in the sport both in terms of on and off course participation. Well done to team Westview on Spellbound placing Greg

  7. Don't be surprised if you see a very similar stakes race take place here between Auckland and Wellington.

Heavy tracks are now upon us and the apprentice riders are out of the woodwork this week! Two 4kg claimers are making their debuts at Awapuni Thursday! Bridie Ansell (a4/48kg) & Rahul Beemud (a4/48kg) Good Luck to them both!

The only way I can see The Bostonian not winning this race is if the legendary one tips him!

It says that going by the stakes that the ATC are paying and the official information available, the club is thriving and any other opinion is based on conjecture and heresay, not fact

    Quiz

I thought it might be a good idea to have a Racecafe Quiz. I thought I would relate it to South Island Racing, just to test people's knowledge of Southern Racing before it closes down for good. Ten quick, really easy questions. See who is first to get them all correct. 1. Name the South Island's premier group race for 2yos. 2. Name the SI's major 2yo race over 1,400m. 3. Name the SI's feature race for 2yo fillies. 4. Name the feature 2yo race on either Dunedin Gold Cup day or Invercargill Cup day. 5. Name the SI's premier black type race open to all 3yos over 1,200m 6. Name the SI's premier black type race open to all 3yos over 2,000m or further. 7. Name the feature jumps race at Riccarton outside of Grand National Week. 8. Name the feature WFA race open to both sexes in Canterbury. 9. Timaru has 7 or 8 meetings a year, including the $50,000 Timaru Cup, list the total number of Saturday meetings at Timaru and the total number of feature meetings at Timaru with the $22,500 minimum 10. Three of the greatest horses to come out of the SI are Phar Lap. Grey Way and Showgate. List all of the feature races named after those three champions in the SI. Hopefully this isn't too hard for those with a working knowledge of the SI. All current too, no historical questions. See how long it takes everyone.
