What is this obsession you have with Chris Dell?I will remind you that you are only as good as the stock you ride. He has had 4 rides for me this season and i cannot complain about any ride and that is hard for me to do.I watched him ride a horse called Blue Breeze and again i thought he had ridden it well My horse's owners wanted a change with a better credential jockey, the horse went worse and the same happened with Blue Breeze. The reason i put Chris on was for his work ethic, he attends the track every day, rides anything and never complains..If every jockey in NZ had his work ethic you would have to pay for stablehands to ride work, just like the old days6 points

I just want to thank everyone who wished us well over the weekend with Enzo's Lad it's an amazing experience having a runner up here in an international race. The owners, Diane, Matty, Brittany and I could not have wished for better in all facets of our trip. Despite EL going in to Sunday's race very well in great order he once again showed his utter dislike for going right handed- he won't race that way again. He was well placed and traveled well to the 600m where he stumbled 2 or 3 times and that was the end. Initially I was very disappointed but after talking with J Mac, The Owners, Diane, Matt and I have made the decision to head to Ascot on 18th and 22 June. This decision is obviously made easy by the substantial incentive provided by Ascot to go there, better than winning a Listed race in NZ, its huge With HK Jockey Club paying our travel to U.K., no matter the outcome it is a great situation to be in and I am sure we will make the most of a week at the home of the sport of kings Ascot. Regarding my own health I'm going great and looking forward to May 23rd when I get "reconnected" . Hopefully I bounce through that operation in good order as I want to be buying at the Gold Coast sales in early June where I bought Enzo's Lad for $A15,000, prior to heading up to Ascot. I am traveling with EL to Mark Todds property in Lambourn tonight. I very much appreciate that we can head there initially where our horse can get a chance to get some grass under his feet and get some grass back through his system6 points

It's the lay of the track at Trentham. It's incredibly rocky not too far down and drainage has always been an issue. In summer the inside is fantastic as it holds moisture, in rainy seasons it holds too much. It can be mastered but it needs different treatment over the track, the outside is a different make up to the inside, but that isn't how the track management operates now. Track Managers used to live on the track, the house was there, I know I used to get up at 3am to move or turn off sprinklers, they lived and breathed the champagne turf, they knew it, but that is just not the case these days. It is an old river bed, its difficult and it behaves like one but it can also be a fantastic racing surface.2 points

$50 WIN BET AT TE RAPA THIS SATURDAY MAY 4TH
Chestnut and one other reacted to Black Kirrama for a topic
So terrific of you BAZZ to put up the $50 and the competition. Fantastic Idea: I've run the finger and palm prints on that digital image. It doesn't look like a tooth wound from an equine. The palm prints suggest it was Brian Smith's palm impression when he slapped Jockey Ron Hutchinson after running second to Alleged in the 1997 The Arc. Brian Smith ( the great guy ) was so pissed off about John Dunlop training his horse and the terrible ride in the Arc. Brian was home at his Cambridge property. Sir Alan and Linda not yet the parents of a wonderful child.Claire Maybe BJ stabbed his right hand opening a tin of asparugus . .BJ is left handed. Pin Me Down2 points -
Be interesting to see what the new website is like. I think the current one is fantastic, as it has all the information one could possibly need, is very well set out and easy to navigate.2 points

Nice to see this promising square gaiter back at Ashvegas trials yesterday. Beaten 5.5 lengths by Winterfell but im sure connections would be happy with that return given the time they ran Greg1 point

I think she is an excellent jock. Not an Opie for natural talent (not many are) but she doesn't make many mistakes and always gives 110% even in a small race. Anyway, someone said the other day that she'd never won a race at Ellerslie. I realise she doesn't ride up there much but is this true? Thx, Matt1 point

I particularly like the way they've setup the news, that's kool..... Cheers Iraklis1 point

Yes , it went very well yesterday. In fact most of the AS team went well but then whats unusual about that. Winterfell was the best performance on the day though as it ran time off 30 Roll on The Jewels, i can see a lot of the usual moaning about their domination coming up. Greg1 point -

why the rail out 10 metres? haven't raced there since the oaks. 3 or 4 races there horses going to be sitting on the ballot because they cant get a run... running 14 horse fields instead of 181 point

I used to think the same thing re Ascot .. until I walked the track and funnily enough it is similar to Trentham when you walk around it, the soil.. yeah I kicked up a sod and the grass length .... who knows what appeals to a horse when they get out there, left or right, some have preferences but he's a pretty seasoned campaigner and if anything he'll adapt well The worst he can do is finish last and then at Ascot that's not so bad is it?1 point

Enzos Lad on the plane tonight
Pam Robson reacted to Insider for a topic
Personally I don’t think that he has a hope in hell at Ascot, but good on all of the team for living the dream. Having said that I didn’t think he had any chance of winning the Telegraph G1, let alone two either!! Of course I wasn’t alone in my thinking based on the price he paid each time! Didn’t you all (too) have the same opinion about his two Telegraph starts, and wasn’t the outcome different?1 point -

Is this how a rating system should work?

Is this how a rating system should work?
Hunter the punter reacted to We're Doomed for a topic
Any system that has any winning horse rated lower than a maiden is crazy. A winner should not be able to drop back to a lower rating than the highest rating possible for a maiden.1 point -
I'd love to see a son of Exceed and Excel at stud in NZ, though given very expensive for any stud to do, but there are a few rolling under the radar they may be better suited to NZ than the very competitive Aus market. The likes of Furnaces and Kuroshio spring to mind.1 point

As at 14/2/2019 she had 445 rides at Ellerslie for just 10 wins. That's a strike rate of 44.5 at Ellerslie. She has had further rides there since then for no further wins.1 point

As long as the big difference in racing numbers exists between the two islands it is really almost mission impossible to assess horses on a level playing field between the two. The big problem is the 'intermediate" band of horses where the larger fields allow for more horses per race to drop. Those at the bottom tend to stay there and similarly the top ones stay up but in between those horses in the north to get a run have to so often race horses 20 points ahead of them where this is not very common in the south. Also in the south where stands are more "fashionable" than in the north the variance can be somewhat offset by handicapping .1 point

mmm... difficult to know But I'm sure what you see playing out has been planned for years. I believe Trump totally controls Washington and has been for 2 years.... we have been watching a scripted freak show from all the DC "hostages" As far as the global deep state players are concerned the military have had 2 years to covertly take down many of the main players. It depends how much they have dismantled the CIA at this stage as they are for responsible for many of the black ops but I presume they must be comfortable enough to begin exposing some truth. An EMP attack is the worry. It's such a slow process to gently red pill the public though...Trump is on the offence now. I think he controls the narrative from here on in. The public are in for one big shock esp here in NZ.1 point
