Fark that Ted! I've had enough after 100m! From memory my best was a 12.flat and a 12.6. When I couldn't keep up on the flat. I made it to the Waikato Champs for 100m Hurdles. I ran 3rd in my heat... falling after the last on the flat (what a farkwit) ran 17.something... which wasn't fast enough to qualify me for the final. My training regime was no exercise, much beer & many cigarettes! Haven't changed a thing and this has made me the champion I am today.....just like CBT

As for other tracks, Cairns is ok, but Rockhampton has been redeveloped and is becoming quite a large training centre. Kilroy is a good country track but Gympie I’m not a fan of. Townsville is good also. A lot of the other tracks in smaller pop areas are used for Non-Tab meetings and picnic races.

Caloundra is the track made perfect for the Sunshine Coast. It’s facilities are fantastic. Elevated viewing areas under cover for the public all facing North. The track, imho, is one of the best in Australia. Well thought out by the Racing Minister of the time, Russ Hinze, Owner of Waverley Star. He had a vision and used Govt money to build it. They race about 50 times a year and also have night racing. I love going there.

Best for half-marathon was 1:06:52. Still hold the NZ half-marathon record for masters 40+ Half Marathon M40 T McLachlan 1:08:22 1996 Actually ran another in 1:08:17 at age 43 but they obviously missed it even though it was a NZ Championship race. Only ran three marathons, all sub 2:30. I wonder if I lost 10kg and trained up what I could run now. Probably across the road and collapse.
