More like “Management by Fear” as they sink the livelihood of those who depend on racing to make a living. Whilst those in charge of “Bullshit Castle” ponder their next spin, the players on the ground struggle. I would be embarrassed to admit To being an NZTR executive and how those higher in the chain can live with themselves and watch the Industry sink is beyond me.5 points

What I find strange is that was your first post since you joined in 2015. The beliefs of old are just that. The practice is outlawed and was banned long before you joined this forum. Only a complete idiot or money hungry piece of crap would even think of continuing such an abhorrent and unnecessary practice. Widespread is a big claim.2 points -
What a real shame to lose monarch chimes, been a sad time all around, with the loss of boots 'n' all as well, condolences to all connections.2 points

I see charges were filed today by the SPCA against him. Now my question is why has he and his family been allowed to continue to race during the investigation? There are no excuses as we have seen grnz can make and change rules whenever they want to stop people they dislike. Bloody disgraceful1 point -
Race 2 #1 Chenier He’s bred in the purple by Medaglia D’oro out of the Oaks placed Zabeel mare Zydeco and is a rare combination that has the ability to match his breeding. In his maiden win 3 weeks ago he sat 5th in a slowly run race, circling them turning for home then bolted in by 5.5 lengths hard held. K Mac is flying down from Sydney especially to ride him and he only rises a kilo in the weights. You’ll need to put plenty on at $1.50 Fixed but it’s better than bank interest. I’ll head out there tomorrow and see if I can find a bookie willing to take him on but it’s highly unlikely. Enjoy!1 point

Yes. As soon as I posted I realised the 60's were a good ten years before Jock. Jock does like the geegee's though and his good mate Wayne Hodgson (fellow rep cricketer, golfer, and bowler) used to own a good one in Italian Saint.1 point

Yes this maybe my first post in a long time and I agree with you completely that it is a abhorrent practice. I am a little old fashioned and still believe in old sayings like where there’s smoke there’s fire. Like most I hope this is a isolated case.i haven’t heard of it being practiced here in NZ and even this one got me by surprise Making the comment widespread was wrong I should proof read before posting.1 point

Bunson if you have evidence of anyone baiting - live or dead please come forward. I would like to have believed that there was none of this behaviour going on in NZ but sadly it looks like I’m wrong1 point -

Condolences to the Schofield familly, I cannot believe I have not read anything on the Greyhound NZGRA website in regards to the passing of David. His contribution to the sport for many years help grow the sport to what it is today. A very good dog person and we can view viideos all day with some of the great Greyhounds and prestigious races he was involved with. It is just a pity the positive things had not been told This puts a bad taste in my mouth and have just about had enough with Greyhound Racing in NZ1 point -
Kitten's Joy was born Caesar section because his dam had hip problems. They tried to sell him for $100,000 but were only bid $95,000 so he went home. His sire El Prado was the first son of Sadler's Wells to stand in the US. He had two starts on dirt at 2 then switched to turf where he won his next start as a later 2yo. At three he beat Artie Schiller in the Virginia Derby (Gp3). Then won the Secretariat (Gp1) 2000m in 1.59.65, still a record. Was voted Eclipse champion racehorse. Stood first season a $25,000 and got heaps of mares Wotten's Basset by Iffraaj. Became champion 2yo winner of Mornay after winning 5 from 5. Hurt himself and failed to fire at three. Retired to stud at 4000 euros Different starts to stud but interesting to see Wootton Basset from this point on1 point

Well Scooby I will tell you who I support, with as much as I possibly can. It’s certainly not within a bull’s roar of what John Key gives to charity, but as a % of my little wealth, it’s probably OK. Anyway, I invite anyone and everyone to check out the ‘Nelson Ark’ and the fantastic job they do for youth and dogs, it’s absolutely amazing. Liz P.S. Simply google them please.1 point

Personally I’d rather see the natural surfaces and facilities upgraded at the city clubs and keep our country clubs as a feeder system for both horses and general interest . At the end of the day selling a country club would probably only yield the resources to cover some unknown consultants fees . Which would be a complete waste of money and history.1 point

The ever so wonderful Mr True Gentleman of Racing Trevor's Celebration of life/ funeral is to be held on Thursday 11 April 2019 at 1pm, Ellerslie racecourse, Ellerslie, Auckland. Would it be fitting to wear at least one of the Mckee family stable colours? We are sure it'll be a day where many colourful stories are shared. Trevor, one is still kicking oneself for not taking up the offer to have shares in Pay My Bail, a horse we both shared fun memories with from the moment you purchased it to it's racing career. Other horses folk will recall include Ebony Honor, Interval, and sorry but can't recall without looking them up horses that raced in both NZ and across the ditch in Australia. Does anyone recall which other horses he rode or trained in Australia, besides Sunline ? Ahh, how many of you have a photograph alongside Trevor, Sticko, Claire Bird and Sunline in stable stall on raceday? Treasure them because I sure will. Other things of note to remember Trevor for include his diet of peas, the incredible promotions with Sunline including caps and posters and featuring on NZ Post Stamps just like Horlicks did. Will always treasure his hugs & cheeky kisses!! As a gesture to Trevor, it would be great if all racecourses he had horses race at to plant a tree or flowers, in fact, some racecourses including Ellerslie really must do something about there gardens and remember they were also set up for Memorial Gardens of those who contributed to racing and a place for peace and reflection for all people. Rest in Peace Dearest Trevor, you will live on in our hearts for the positive contributions you have made to our lives x1 point -
Agree with these sentiments GOM. Very sad to hear about David's passing. I have such fond memories of the DD Schofield kennels around the turn of the Millennium/early 2000s, they really were a superstar kennel with all their shiny new Aus Imports, that was my 'good old days'. Some dogs that come to mind...Smokin' Prince, Overtime, Big Sam Junior, Big Sam Banner, the Charlstons, Te Amore Lee, Astro Teddy ( creator of the greatest dog race of all time)...Theres many more champions I've forgotten..?? Anyway that's what I'll remember David for, my condolences to Denis and Pam. I dont know the circumstances around Dave's death but those who knew him, know he had his struggles, this is a sad end..RIP now David, Champion Trainer, gone too soon.1 point

Doesn't surprise me about Auckland but it is still disgusting. I would like to point out to these people that if you look at the top trainer award for the Auckland and Waikato clubs for the last 20 years you will not find many years where the Schofield name does not appear, if you trace back through a lot of the pedigree's of successful bitch lines and some sirelines you will find the Schofields either trained or sourced many of them , if you look at the number of trainers who were introduced to greyhounds by the Schofield family you find many, if you look at the amount of people within our industry with short memories you will find many. To all my friends who chose not to wear an armband remember let him without sin cast the first stone.1 point

Completely agree with the above comments. On a Friday night in the pub his calls certainly added something to the event. Not knocking the other callers but he’s a class above.1 point

Yes agree Brian did a great job on Friday night and greyhound racing need him back on deck. Mark does a job good calling but i think his forte is presenting with his wealth of knowledge he comes across very well when in that roll.1 point

You are so right Seddon and we all know this. Trying to fathom his calls on live trackside is hard enough so listening on Radio is just a joke. Trev has given a great service to our sport and is a genuine "Nice Guy", but there comes a time when Common sense must prevail...There are several young callers in the Wings and tomorrow another will be given an opportunity at Palmerston to remind us what calling could be like if the system was fair. Good luck Brian for tomorrow,1 point -
Because I work and listen to races on radio and the number of time he has the first 4 dogs wrong when crossing the line is unbelievable. You only know when they give the divvy. He's more worried where his tip is.1 point

Best greyhound commentator by a country mile. Hopefully back full time soon. Will start watching Wanganui races again. Mark and Co ok but Brian next level. Just have to get rid of nzs worst commentator in Trevor Wilks now. Have not had a bet at Addington for about 4 yrs now and won’t until he goes.1 point
