    Philippa Morris

Who is Philippa Morris? What is her background in racing? First time I have spied her presenting on Trackside with Rosso today at Manukau? What a natural presenter she is and a wealth of knowledge! A real breath of fresh air! May many more presenters like her are employed by Trackside Good Job Phillipa!

    Cambridge

The problem child off north island harness racing Auckland offering 20k and Cambridge 6500 to 8500.there has to be a differential in handicapping points otherwise Cambridge a great track good people will really suffer. What does it take for common sense in handicapping to allow Cambridge a fair go.the handicapping sub committee of hrnz has to do it's job.

    Jacinda Ardern

Regarding Venezuela, we are the arsehole of the world by Suze Venezuela: Guilty of child starvation. Image credit: The Times in Plain English Our minister of foreign affairs who shows no aptitude for cultivating international relationships recently demonstrated his hardness of heart over the starving population of Venezuela. Socialism feeds the hungry, right? Wrong. Almost ninety percent of Venezuelans live in poverty. People can do nothing but flee or beg the rest of the world for release from the social dictatorship responsible for the humanitarian crisis following hyperinflation. Military rule and poverty go hand in hand, evidence of the destruction of this once wealthy jewel of South America. Only 45% of Venezuelans went to the polls in 2018. What was the point when there was no one worth voting for? Incumbent President Madura had preempted election results the previous year by imprisoning, forcing into exile or forbidding worthy opponents to stand against him. The United Nations should have intervened, but long ago forgot its foundation to prevent war. Nowadays UN members struggle to reach peace around the table, much less outside the room where wars smolder and burn freely. It’s members merely sit around bickering, harbouring war mongers and failing to protect the innocent. Quote. If this is the best they can come up with, why are we funding these toothless idiots? This is our response to Venezuela’s corrupt 2018 “election”. Quote. Peters ignored the humanitarian crisis and said Venezuela should decide its own fate, inferring it has the freedom to do so. Rhetoric aside, the reason we didn’t get involved is because, like Venezuela, we have a socialist government. Around the world lines have been drawn on the Venezuelan crisis and, thanks to the Coalition of losers we are on the wrong side. Trump made an interesting comment during his speech regarding Venezuela. Quote. Who has the closest international relationship with Cuba? Russia does. Our allies are supposed to be Australia, the USA and the UK. They and over 40 other countries, denounced President Maduro and now stand united in their support of opposition leader Juan Guaidó. No thanks to the UN and no thanks to us, they sent humanitarian aid trucks which Maduro attempted to stop at the Columbian boarder. Quote. Venezuelans cheer as they surround the first truck with humanitarian aid from the Brazilian government that has arrived in Pacaraima, Brazil, on the border with Venezuela. (Ivan Valencia/AP) People could be seen jumping onto the burning trucks, pushing pallets to the ground and passing boxes around in the smoke-filled air. Our government aligns more closely with Russian, Chinese and Cuban political aspirations. Because of this we are doomed to a future of repression and poverty if the trend continues. We need to remember history and we need to remember who our friends are. Trump in Miami last week referred to the inevitable effects of socialism when left to run its course. Quote. Venezuala’s crisis is far from over. If we don’t want our future to be theirs we need to address the problem of comrade Cindy and the Coalition of losers. Their “wellness” budget and talk of “fair” taxes are assaults on our traditional values of enterprise, hard work and a fair return for risks taken. All that we hold dear, that contributes to our wealth, is under threat by the CoL. Before we get too far down this path we have an election where, hopefully, we part company with Venezuela. This is our opportunity to change an unfolding socialist nightmare.

  10. Pretty good night for the blue team at Menangle with nothing disappointing and the results like to see them have 3 in Miracle mile. Even though not the fastest the win of The Fixer was the best IMHO in that he showed improvement ,as expected , at his second run there. Plenty to like about but the way he knuckled down to defeat Tiger Tara which is no mean feat. Greg

  13. To me it was still travelling well which made her decision to not take the gap very strange. Just appeared poor judgment. It would not be a surprise to see some sort of penalty imposed as a result of the investigation. I must have not interpreted your comment above in the correct perspective Greg

Of course Capitalism is not a level playing field. Capitalism always creates inequality.. it lifts all boats but some more than others. It is Socialism that creates the level playing field. Socialism always creates poverty and misery but equality for all.. I know which one I prefer.

Is there any truth to the rumour currently circulating that the Manawatu club received a letter from HRNZ asking them to reduce their stakes because their ability to offer decent money was making Cambridge look bad? If that's true, then Cambridge need to give themselves an uppercut because any such letter surely would have been because they complained to the powers that be. HRNZ should be applauding clubs that manage to offer great stakes. If it's good enough for people to say that other trainers need to "up their game" to compete with the All Stars, then shouldn't the same be said to under performing clubs?

  23. Its not only the lifestyle block under threat , the family home is as well . Listening to a tax expert the other day it goes like this , Mum and Dad own the home , Dad dies , Mum gets the house , no tax , but when Mum dies whammo , the inheritance tax (in there somewhere, fine print ) hits the kids inheritance , so indirectly the family home is taxed . In the states interest paid on a family home is tax deductable for all home owners so over many years that's a big saving and a great head start and buffer against any tax charged when selling , not here . Now for the owner who races and then sells at an improved value that's capitol gain no difference to the small business person who builds a business up , creates improved value/goodwill and sells , they will both get hit . Socialism has always failed , its all about pulling people down rather than building people up .

Labour Govts are progressive(apart from fake ones like Rogernomics). National Govts retain the status quo,and primarily enact legislation to enrich a minority. They are very good at embedding urban myths as to them being 'sound financial managers',and a' safe pair of hands'.Good PR and plumbing new depths in black ops are hallmarks of the last Nat Govt. Most of the good things average NZ'ers enjoy, healthcare, education, minimum wage, holidays, are a result of Labour initiatives. National are very good at disowning their ex leaders and P.M's...Muldoon,Bolger,Shipley...(add Key..soon) as they contour their principles frequently to reflect popular voting patterns.

    Dead dogs on interislander

We have made the trip on several occassions and I must admit took no measures other than inquire from the operators if exhaust fumes could be a hazard. I suppose we were reasurred by the fact that many dogs had travelled across with no incidents (at that stage). Mind you we had the dogs out of the vehicle immediately before and after the crossing as I am sure most others do. I don't think there is any great risk in the crossing if common sense is used.
