    Karaka on TV?

Karaka on Tv. Huge congratulations to the director of the broadcasts. He would have had a bank of Tv's in front of him and had to pick which camera to use. That choice was attended to brilliantly. The camera operators were their usual good selves, but to pick which camera is exceedingly difficult. Also, they were able to locate the bidder who in many cases uses a bid indicator that only serious bid spotters can identify. That was very skilful editing. As I watched it I wondered if this is the only part of the New Zealand Racing Board that knows what it is doing.

Avoid the Sunday talkback show at all costs. I hear snippets when I'm driving and listening to races - farrrrk there are some sad people that call that show. And what's worse some of them appear to be regulars - what is that about!? I can almost feel Des Coppins cringe when that guy who goes by the name of Ted calls him. I've told my family to shoot me if I ever call talkback radio.

  6. Aussies won't come back for Cups / middle distance horses thats over , gone forever I'd guess because cash not there to re build and facilities not good enough gallops wise. Euros too well bred over generations , too well prepared in early stages of education . The ones Coolmore offload to Team Williams have same early life as likes of Camelot , Australia etc etc , they haven't had arse ripped out ripping round and round same substandard training track from year dot.Godolphin send raiders , and transfer from uk and purchase in UK and Europe to transfer in respect likes Contributor so they have the Aussie racing sussed now and a top young trainer to entrust them to over there. So it's a expensive business to re build and regain foothold in that market. Age group racing different I suppose but they turn 4 and it's over up against the imports for most part.

  9. Usual PR spin SG Digital trying to promote themselves at the expense of the NZ punter and the NZ Racing Industry. Just like the NZRB and the Betting Platform you couldn't make this up. It's actually quiet sickening to read it when you know the true situation. (Sarcasm in brackets and bold, I couldn't help myself). The New Zealand Racing Board (NZRB) has provided another generation of Kiwis with a “real opportunity to be part of racing” after launching a new sportsbook for the country’s TAB with SG Digital’s OpenBet™ technology. We caught up with the NZRB CEO John Allen and Keith O’Loughlin, SVP Sportsbook at SG Digital, to discuss potential profit increases from implementing the new platform, servicing previous ‘pain points’ for TAB customers and making key upgrades to the player experience through new features such as cashout, as well as a wide range of international events with improved in-play betting. This deal is another example of how SG Digital, an online division of Scientific Games, is making an impact in regulated markets across the globe to complement its focus on the US, where it has already secured sportsbook partnerships with both Caesars Entertainment – whose players are enjoying similar features available to those on the NZ TAB – and the Oneida Indian Nation. SBC: SG Digital has delivered a major upgrade to the betting experience for players on New Zealand’s TAB; how excited are you that this is now in action? JA: We’re very excited. Together with SG Digital, we’ve delivered a world-class betting experience for our customers which will enable us to deliver increased returns to the racing and sports industry in New Zealand. Although it was an ambitious and technically challenging programme of work, SG Digital was able to tailor their core product to suit our needs(your needs maybe what about your customer needs?) , and help us elevate our presence in what is a very competitive international market. SBC: You have estimated that the new platform will increase returns by $17-19 million in annualised profit (John you stated that the new platform would cost $17 million a year to run via Paddy Paddy & Open Bet so if by some miracle profit was increased by $17 - 19 million Paddy Power shareholders reap benefits as does Open Bets finances but what about the poor old NZ Racing Industry?) ; how much of a boost will this provide to NZ racing? ( I think I answered that question myself) JA: The TAB is unique, in that we are established by Government to operate in the interests of racing in New Zealand. This will be a huge boost to our industry. The quality of our new platform will also enable us to continue improving our customer experience and, ultimately, continue to compete with the best sportsbook operators in the world (fairyland doesn't exist in our world) . SBC: What would constitute a successful first year in 2019? How much ‘leakage’ can you realistically prevent to international websites that have been able to offer the full service we have become accustomed to in the largest European markets? JA: International websites will always hold an appeal for some of our customers, despite our legislated monopoly (and poor customer understanding and service) . New Zealand customers now have access to much more product (and confusion) than ever before, and while there are some options available overseas that we won’t offer (like good service) , we’re confident punters will be excited (yes over the moon) by what we can. It is important to our customers (no punters not involved in NZ Racing care more about service and odds) that every bet placed with us benefits New Zealand racing and sport. Our customers value a reliable and stable platform, delivered by a reliable, stable source – and that’s what they are getting (sorry about the language but @#%K me) . With the launch of our new website, we’ve included the key features our customers wanted to see (you didn't ask your customers until after the launch) like cashout, thousands of extra options on international events, improved in-play betting, and improved account management options (yes like no safe bet limit amounts). And, with the Paddy Power Betfair feed, we’re also very competitive on price (please do your homework first)– particularly in our domestic market where our local knowledge allows us to sharpen the pen (competitive on price and sharpening the pen used in the same sentence ?) . We have ambitious plans for 2019 to provide an increasing number of new products and services (ambitious plans? you can't get it right from the get go) and we’re confident of good growth in punter numbers. Inventive solutions to new problems SBC: Why is this such a big project (equates to money earner) for SG Digital and NZRB? KOL: This was our first sportsbook launch that encompasses our entire modular tech stack (it shows) –a veritable smorgasbord of sports technology that makes betting simple and intuitive. To launch such a cohesive product, we worked diligently behind the scenes with NZRB; we were both at the control board (there's a worry), twisting the dials just right and tweaking the settings so the final delivered product was just right (just right hate to see it only 80% right) . The project required in-depth research of user insights (ha ha) to bring New Zealand’s offer up to international standards. We wanted NZRB punters to experience betting the way it should be experienced: easily (sorry language again $#@k me). It was a journey that required programming elbow grease and inventive solutions to new problems (your still looking), and we’re proud of the result. New Zealand bettors now have access to a next level suite of features, such as cashout, increased in-play betting with fewer suspensions of service (first you have to provide service so that it can be received), and more. Partnering with NZRB to bring their sportsbook to the forefront of the digital landscape took a lot of heavy lifting, and we’re incredibly happy with the final product (shame the majority of NZ punters don't feel the same way). Of course, it will evolve over time as the industry changes, and that’s part of the fun (yes punters are laughing all the way) . SBC: Online players have previously been unable to withdraw winnings instantly, something that has been rectified by this new SG Digital platform; can you outline some of the other key customer ‘pain points’ that you expect to appease? KOL: The main customer feedback we’ve received is the need for an intuitive and easy platform (well that didn't work out well did it). Quite frankly, sports betting can be complicated (unlike your Betting Platform), especially to new or learning users. On the other hand, seasoned punters need easy access to their favorite bets, so we had to strike a balance (time to upgrade your scales). Front-end interface testing and back-end development are equally important here, and we’re always keeping a keen eye on how bettors interact with our sports betting technology. We’ve also collaborated with NZRB to offer a variety of game-changing elements that already resonate with punters. For example, the user interface is now the same across mobile and desktop, so bettors have easy access no matter which platform they’re using. Withdrawals directly to a bank account, combining all your bets into one “shopping cart” with a final pricing total, and fewer in-play suspensions (ha ha) also improve the experience. We constantly keep our finger on the pulse of sports betting customers, and we’re using that knowledge to make improvements like those above to keep current punters happy, and hopefully encourage new ones to learn the ropes. 'Crystal clear view of customers and market' ( SBS and the NZRB should be able to negotiate a deal with spec-savers) SBC: The new platform was originally expected to go live in August of last year; can you explain the delay in bringing this to market? KOL: We’ve been working closely with NZRB to ensure that their required product set was in line with punter expectations. NZRB had a robust and crystal clear view of their customers (please) and their market; we made it a priority to stay true to that vision. They’ve been instrumental in driving us to deliver an innovative solution with a long-term deliverable in mind. For them it’s always been about a top quality solution. It’s quality over speed (speed compared to what a sloth?), and we’ve been a team from start to finish, working towards that goal. SBC: New services to market often experience ‘teething’ problems; what sort of issues have you encountered and how have you gone about overcoming them? KOL: Its’ been quite an easy ride in that perspective (ohh #@%k me someone get me a bucket). We had the usual release and migration change issues that a release of this size and nature encounters. With the level of testing that we’ve benefited from, these issues are of pretty minor (thank God your not a heart doctor)nature, and generally customers are pleased with the new offering. Our experience in other markets prepares us for any day-one, week-one, or even month-one issues that arise. We have the expertise to quickly address any problems, and we’re pleased NZRB’s was a smooth launch with limited fixes required. We wanted their sportsbook to make an amazing first impression with bettors (oh believe me it made an impression, I thought of the Titanic) , and we think it has. Now, we continue on the upward trajectory to the next level (that's what Openheimer said). Link below and you even get to watch a video of John Allen and his excitement (health warning Watch before eating) https://sbcamericas.com/2019/01/29/sg-digital-bringing-the-nzrb-sportsbook-to-the-forefront-of-the-digital-landscape/?fbclid=IwAR0mvraDhEmTvryi8NPMfUyNTlybBTGlMl9_vzE9AyLcOzmsLzPrFA40WeM

    Jacinda Ardern

Where’s Cindy… again? by Christie Photoshopped image credit: Luke So our prime minister had a month long holiday, went to Europe where she did TV interviews and sat on stage with Prince William and David Attenborough and now she is back in New Zealand. She is not, however, back at work. This week’s usual weekly TV and radio interviews, done by prime ministers routinely since the days of Helen Clark, were with Grant Robertson. One can be forgiven for thinking that, now that she rubs shoulders with Al Gore and Bono, she thinks she is too important to carry out the routine tasks of her job, such as talking to New Zealand journalists about New Zealand government policy. Personally, I think she is afraid of being asked some hard questions, about, for example, Karel Sroubek and Richie Hardcore. Jacinda needs to learn a very important lesson. Failing to show doesn’t only make her look scared, which I think she is, it also makes her look aloof and disinterested; and that is suicide for a politician. quote. Yes, I think she finds it all too hard. Talking is what she is good at, which is why she had so much fun at Davos, talking about climate change and wellbeing. When it comes to turning all that talk into action though, Jacinda is coming up well and truly short. The cornerstone of all of the government’s ‘wellbeing’ policies is housing. Whether it is private housing or state housing doesn’t really matter. There is no ‘wellbeing’ to be found living in a car. This government is failing on housing. They cannot keep accusing the previous government of ‘nine years of neglect’ if they can’t do any better themselves. quote. This government had ideas. It came into power as a ‘transformational government’, but they have been anything but transformational. Talking about what you are going to do is easy. Turning them into reality is another matter, as this government is now finding out. That is why Jacinda is not fronting to the public. She knows she has no answers for those who expect her to deliver on her promises. Expect to see much less of her in the future.

No charges guys - yet. Just investigations following two months of investigation by Racing Vic. They called the Police to assist because the Police have powers the RIU don’t have. There’s no mention of doping at all and the tasers were 3 “Jiggers”, which are a banned item. The gun? Who doesn’t own one on a rural property? Who’s was it? A lot of water to go under the bridge so until then, I believe BackPoon’s comments about tubing should be condemned.

Having discovered if I click on provisional results via the web I get the old browser with results which is far easy on the eye. However I use my phone I get locked in on the page and cant get back so have to close the screen page and reboot the tab again. The lack of knowing who the owner or owners of the racing dog are really hacks me off, yes if you click into the extended form you can find out but another step as I punter I find a pain in the arse. There probably should have been a dummy site punters could have had a go at before the big launch but so is life and punters will keep on punting.

Need to see him tuck in and get cover until the 300m. He can finish on beautifully and could have too much speed for these maidens to hold out. Race 2: Each Way #9 Don't Need An Excuse. We sold a horse at Karaka in 2018. The reserve on one of our horses was 80k and the stud who was selling for us had vendor bidders in the audience. Astonishingly, one of the vendor bidders missed the memo and put his hand up for a 90k bid (i.e 10k through reserve). The look on the auctioneers (Morgan) was priceless and he actually said "are you sure". The yearling obviously didn't sell given there was no genuine buyer but the best was to come. I emailed NZB anonymously and enquired as to why the results said our horse had been passed in when in fact the hammer had fallen, albeit on the back of a mistake. Their response - "the horse was purchased legitimately but subsequently failed a vet test"

    Jacinda Ardern

Ardern looks to Europe for guidance by Suze Two globalists Jacinda Ardern, writing for Project Syndicate, prefaces her discussion by talking about our natural landscape which she calls beautiful, unique and unspoiled and then she says that she wants to align us with the very worst of Europe’s powerbases, the EU. The EU has decimated any European country with western heritage that will let them get away with it. It’s almost as if Jacinda were saying that the EU will destroy the remnants of our western civilisation, but, reading between the lines, we will still have our beautiful landscape. Quote. She lost me with the words “open societies and economies”. Jacinda is a globalist declaring her allegiance to the rest of the world’s globalists. She welcomes immigrants and she promotes diversity and multi-culturalism. Someone needs to tell her that multi-culturalism is a pipe-dream that does not work. Quote. No, we do not look to the EU as a natural partner. For one thing they are on the other side of the world and we are in the Pacific. Our natural allies are Australia and the Pacifica countries. I could argue the US is one too, but its president and the majority of its population are nationalists, so Ardern does not give them the time of day. But we know who put that thought into Ardern’s woolly head. She has just met with Theresa May who was told four years ago by voters that they wanted to quit the EU. It hasn’t happened because Theresa May is a globalist who actually wants to stay in the EU so instead she half-heartedly attempted to make arrangements that have failed to achieve Brexit. It doesn’t matter what voters think, globalists will follow their own agenda and everyone else must fall into line; including the British voters who said otherwise. Ardern then talks about the “many thousands of young men from New Zealand willingly travelled to the other side of the world to fight alongside our allies in two world wars.” Where was Ardern when history was taught at school? Our soldiers died in both wars defending the Commonwealth and our British heritage, not the EU, which was founded in the aftermath of WW2. Quote. Let’s not forget that without that tragic loss we would be living in a very different world today. A world without rules means whose rules? When there is no peaceful means to resolving disputes, what then? She wants global governance and peace – but on whose terms? Are globalists pacifists? Quote. I repeat: Europe is not a natural ally of New Zealand but, because the EU promotes climate change, Ardern sees an opportunity to further her own climate change agenda which she ranks as “the defining global challenge of our time”. This is simply wishful thinking from a lone globalist leader at the far end of the world. Quote. Newsflash: terrorists aren’t interested in talking about peace – they don’t want peace; they want war. By all means sit down and talk, but unless you have the physical capability to defend your country, you will be laughed out of the door and over-run immediately thereafter. Ardern’s writing makes her agenda clear, and it’s clearly wrong for New Zealand. She needs to go.

To be honest, it probably makes more sense than the Messara proposals. The only actual savings to the industry will be owners transport costs to the likes of Waterlea. I'm not sure that the likes of Kevin Myers will send heaps of horses to support Wairoa at Hastings, and I'm fascinated to know where the Marlborough RC will go to race; either Omoto or Riccarton I suppose, or they may go the same way Westport and Nelson went when they stopped racing at their courses. Will Hokitika and Reefton continue to attract lots of local sponsorship racing elsewhere. Feilding is quite a misleading example to use as they were able to sell their course for lots of money: very few of the clubs affected here will be able to do that. All the Feilding precedent does is perhaps justify closing Trentham or Te Rapa. It will also put a bit of pressure on those Trotting clubs left running some of the smaller courses by themselves. Could we see some of the local Racing enthusiasts and sponsors switching their allegiance to Harness Racing if they want to stay involved?

The only reason the Yanks were welcomed in such style was because they had more money to pay the hookers..This is based on many conversations i had with nz ww2 veterans. Apparently there used to be lines outside the brothels and the kiwis would be at the front but then reluctantly sell their position to the yanks then go to the back of the line and do it again. Good money made by kiwi soldiers and village hookers.

‘Bringing home the Christmas Pakeha’ by AS Paterson in the Dominion in 1933 Cannibalism is a cultural tradition that I for one am very glad that Maori no longer practice. Fancy being silly enough to make a reference to it in the complaint. (Apparently, when cooked and eaten, Europeans tasted like pig. I wonder what this cheese tastes like?) It is pertinent to note that this complaint was made last November and has only been turned into an outrage article now because it is a slow news month. We must also remember that we were told repeatedly by the media and the activists in Wellington that we were not allowed to be upset at a ‘Santa’ who wore a red feather cloak and carried a giant hook even though he disappointed the children who didn’t know who the hell he was supposed to be and who were left crying and waiting for the real Santa to show up. We have been lectured that we are raaacist for wanting to hold on to our traditions because they are European cultural traditions and therefore are not important enough to be respected or celebrated or kept. But back to the latest cheese outrage. Here we have a cheesemaker embracing the Maori language as being uniquely Kiwi and naming one of its Kāpiti cheeses after a famous Kāpiti chief. Since appropriation of Maori culture will be used as a justification for all this whining, it is important to note that the woman who complained is guilty of cultural appropriation herself. On social media she was all for the ‘Maori Santa’, not caring at all about appropriating a longstanding European tradition. Also her Twitter avatar (how delicious), instead of being a Maori icon, is… wait for it… a Nike icon. I sincerely hope that all this outrage will help with brand recognition and will help Fonterra sell more of its Kāpiti Cheese products, especially Tuteremoana Cheddar. (At $13.00 for 200gms I very much doubt she is feeding it to her kids either.) Hell no....fags have just gone up again.....

I have decided to defer to Stuff editor Patrick Crewdson next time I want to add to my share portfolio. Obviously, with his keen insight and knowledge of future events, he will be able to tell me what to buy and how well those shares will do. What a wonderful skill to have, and how very useful it must be when it comes to… absolutely everything really. I wonder how many times he has won Lotto? None of that matters. The point is that Crewdson and Stuff have taken the stand that their opinion is correct, and there are to be no dissenting voices… and they will shut down any opinions that differ from their own. And they call us right leaning people who believe in free speech ‘fascists’. I discussed this recently with a climate change believer. He said it was very frustrating to constantly be up against deniers, because the conversation goes nowhere, as it is always a question of whether or not climate change is real, and that Stuff’s attitude was a good one, because it moves forward to debate from an ‘is it true or not’ position to ‘how do we fix it’. This lady, Face of the Day on Saturday, seems to think so too. Yes, very nice. Stuff censoring free speech about climate change will save all those cute little birdies now. But the problem with Stuff’s attitude is that it is the start of a slippery slope. If they get away with this – and they have got away with it, since they have now been backed by the Media Council – what will they censor next? Will they close down anything they see as racist, even if it isn’t? Will they close down any criticism of the current government? Will they close down any comments about immigration, after the signing of the UN Migration Compact? Will they close down any criticism of terrorism? Will they stop comments about transgender people in sport? In short, will they close down everything that can be viewed as dissent, even mild dissent? Here are a couple of comments of wisdom on yesterday’s Face of the Day: It is vitally important that we do not allow our basic rights to slip away. To those that think Stuff is right, I have only one thing to say. Our parents and grandparents grew up in an era where free speech was taken away. Books were burned, the press was full of propaganda and everyone lived in compete terror. The second world war was fought to give us those freedoms back, or to keep them for those who were in danger of having them taken away, and millions lost their lives so that we could enjoy the way of life that is now under threat… again. Many people will not see it that way, of course. But by the time people in Germany in the 1930s saw what was truly going on, they had no choice. They had to go along with it. The alternatives were terrifying. As we seem condemned to repeat the errors of history, never think that it could not all happen again… because it already is. Stuff be damned.

It is quite clear you dont understand just how dangerous the 5 eyes are.... one need only take a look at the Fisa fiasco that has yet to be fully exposed... now imagine just for a moment.... a worthy candidate for NZ Priminister ran in the next NZ election ...but every bit of information/planning was captured by a foreign country then re-routed back to the NZ opposition parties the danger is that every move of the worthy candidate could be countered simply becos you know their moves as they plan it out!! this endangers democracy by those who have the upper hand. irrespective of whether you like Kim dot com or not... doesnt change the fact he has done NZ a favour by highlighting this!! and by him doing so... those who are aware.. understand the Fisa scandal that took place in america

Callers overwhelmingly against UN Migration Compact by Christie Now that the great unwashed are finally starting to hear about it, Newstalk ZB reports that the vast majority of its callers on the subject are opposed to New Zealand signing the UN Migration Compact, although it is probably already too late by now. quote. Jacinda Ardern originally said it was to be signed by December 17th and is now saying December 20th is the deadline. She is also saying that the final decision will be made by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Winston Peters. Winston is our only hope now, guys. God help us all. quote. Good point. Why bother doing things through the right channels when arriving on a leaky boat and tearing up your passport will achieve the same effect? This is madness in the extreme. quote. Well spotted. Many of us believe that Jacinda is wanting to follow in Helen Clark’s footsteps and get a cushy job at the UN. As a result, she is hell-bent on signing the compact. I have to admit, I live in hope though, that this compact will spell the end of the UN as we know it. Donald Trump will pull the US out of the UN the minute it tries to force all countries into accepting the terms of the compact, which Angela Merkel has indicated will happen if two-thirds of member states agree to make it binding. Once the US has gone, taking its funding with it, the UN will not be able to function. This cannot happen quickly enough. quote. The trouble here is that all this is coming too late. The media has kept a stoic silence over this issue for months, and so, for that matter, has the government, which has known about this compact since March. Jacinda claims she would never sign New Zealand up to anything detrimental to our sovereignty when it comes to immigration policy, but either she is lying or simply does not understand the ramifications of the compact. I suspect she doesn’t understand it, and maybe she doesn’t particularly want to understand it fully either. If the government was not intending to sign, we would know about it by now. The fact that we are still surrounded by ‘maybe’ and excuses about deadlines all indicate to me that this ‘open and transparent government’ is trying to pull a fast one yet again. We have probably signed up already and the government is hoping that the facts will get lost amid the Christmas festivities. Let us hope that this is not the case and that we have not signed as yet, and that Winston Peters does the decent thing and pulls New Zealand out of it. I fear it is a vain hope though. It will all get lost in the festive season, as the government is hoping. Once we are all back on deck we may not realise that New Zealand will have a very different future than the one we thought we would have due to a Marxist prime minister and a sad, bitter old man. I will gladly apologise to both parties if I am proved wrong but don’t hold your breath. As we all know by now, I won’t be doing that anytime soon.

  48. Well worth a watch , I don't think we have seen freedom around the world under so much threat as we are seeing today or certainly not in the last 60 years . Winston's betrayal on immigration , the deal signed is the similar to the Paris climate agreement and are probably linked , all voluntary until you try and leave , its a trap and we will do as we are told , many of the country's who signed are refugee exporters , I can see the UN phoning cindy , we have a spare 50,000 refugees this month , they are on the way , thanks . Globalist socialist cindy and her attacks on anyone who owns there own home and above , home ownership seems to be her cut off point , rural NZer's constantly under attack from lefty extremists , democratically elected Trump under threat , Britain being held to ransom by unelected EU officials , Merkel wanting European country's to hand over sovereignty to the EU , China has appointed their leader as leader for life , a dictator , it goes on . Good to see the Ausses and Trump standing their ground on the immigration issue , the issue that caused Brexit , riots in Belgium , the Netherlands and the rise of right wing politics in Germany and France , every action has a reaction , the socialist globalists are pushing hard left , they want world domination , one government , the reaction will be the strengthening of the right world wide , no doubt about it troubles brewing .

  50. Scoobs, there have been many good horses come from every corner of the country over the years, even the likes of George Yakich and Solo's Dream from Dargaville who won at Ellerslie in front of the Queen.Like has been said before. The industry is dying but nobody wants to be the first to help it into the recovery position. Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die.
