Interestingly, there are 118 acceptors at Kumara; compared with 94 at Trentham and 81 at Auckland. The Kumara Cup has four runners rated at 90 or over, the open stayers race at Auckland has one, and the open stayers at Trentham has only two, and it's a group 3, although surely not for much longer. Now which circuit is it they want to shut down. It could be argued a lot more money would be saved by shutting down Trentham than the West Coast.

Looks as though they made it to the 2nd stage of Typhoon from what I have seen. Seriously the NZRB should be embarrassed with what they have developed to date and should be asking for a refund on the 50 million of Industry money spent 'so far'. John Allen if you're praising the success of it you are one poor deluded individual. Acknowledge the failures that you customers are saying the site has delivered and put it right. Nothing wrong with negative publicity as long as you acknowledge that certain areas need addressing. Looking at the site from my point of view techies designed it along with clueless management with no punting knowledge or customer requirements. I would rate it 3/10 and that's hard to justify. As for that condescending tweet get me a bucket please, the heads not in the sand its somewhere else.

I had to go through all the races at Reefton & Matamata to get the scratchings which was 16 clicks to do the job that previously took just 1. All the individual race scratchings are at the bottom of the race so you write the scratchings down then have to scroll up the page 16 times to get to the next race, wouldn't it make sense to also include the race menu at the top of each race also at the bottom so you don't have to continually scroll up to go to the next race. Surely I just can't locate where the meetings scratchings tab is can anyone direct me as I can't get through to Help Desk. Another annoying thing is on the racing page with the meetings I go and click on Matamata and then when i finish taking them down and want to do Reeftons the racing menu has disappeared and is replaced with sporting options??? 50 million spent to as we were told be a better punting experience is far far from it. Spend a few hundred and for christ sake if its not there create a tab with all the days scratchings on the one page. Old story why change something if its not broken. I agree with Thad on one thing John Allen take a bow and apologise to the Industry

If you go to the PDF files and click on easy form they are there. Maybe an index on how to navigate the new site would be helpful. If you want people to bet surely you’d make it user friendly.

  10. Looks like I wont be bothering with Jockey Challenges anymore... Previously you could just click on the jockeys name and all their rides would show up and then you could decide whether they were worth a bet or not. But now it seems you'll need to view each race separately and scroll thru to see whether they have a ride in the race, then repeat the process for each race on the card... Another great decision on this new platform....

How could so many well paid individuals get it so wrong so often. I have decided to move to offshore bookies immediately although it will take 2 days to set up account and address regulatory matters in these AML sensitive days. Anyone else locked out and getting an email 5 days later asking if they have got a problem logging in? Do any cafers have anything positive to say about the new system Greg

Harness Is just as bad a couple of wins as a old horse u have to retire.3 year olds get every 2nd win free.trouble is we think we know more than the really smart racing countries that encourage longevity.the main reason is lack of nouse at the top of both codes.any one who has it is sent to the bottom of the heap and called troublemakers.sound familiar Mr Leo.

I hate to even look at these examples. No doubt the handicapping system is a key driver for the doom that NZTR is engaged in achieving. As you know, a few years back we did a considerable piece of work for NZTR assessing the impact of the handicapping system changes implemented following the Carpenter review. The two key (and indisputable imo) findings were that the female allowance in handicap races was distorting the whole ratings system; and that higher rated horses were winning an increasingly higher proportion of races than they should be relative to their expected chance in a fair and even handicap. As you suggest, NZTR were not open to making suggested changes even though the handicapper at the time indicated in advance what was necessary to make handicap races competitive within the scope of the current rating band system. He soon left following the inaction for greener pastures. Licensees also reportedly had no appetite for the suggested changes. Hence, NZ racing continued to be decreasingly attractive to punters and interest and revenue declined and continues to do so. Yet the same make the most noise about wanting higher stakes. The Overtheriver cf. Lizzie L'Amour example exemplifies some of this. Possibly worse, the example in the head post of this thread signals what might be an even greater problem which was outside our brief when we did that earlier analysis. That is that the system "rules" mean that horses like Maygrove and Overtheriver get rehandicapped for wins, even though they are only running up to their recent best performances and if they don't win, they do not drop back to a weight that makes them a winning chance. This is not a handicapping system. It's a rort which fails to achieve the fundamental objectives of handicap racing which is equalising chance of all runners thereby creating competitive events that attract wagering revenue. This type of rating system as a proxy for performance assessment is a poor one, especially as it is currently configured. NZ racing would have been much better off with a performance based system a la the UK with a couple of decent handicappers doing the job. The current system could pretty much be done by a $500 desktop computer which would also not be prone to influence by phone calls from certain trainers. I've said all this before on a number of occasions and given up. As you say " it’s been manifestly obvious for a long time that NZTR will do all they can to drive revenue and profit down as they strive to implode what’s left of this industry." Where exactly the Members' Council, board, MIA, CEO, clubs, licensees etc. are on this is disastrous. Orchestrating their own demise.

I don't really know that NZTR are clever enough to actually have an agenda and implement it. I have always just put it down to incompetence. They certainly do their best though to ensure as small a fields as possible with their dates and race programming. The policy of only programming seven races and hoping to split one is absolute lunacy as it denies certain types of horses a start every week, while at the same time ensuring tiny fields in other classes.

https://www.racecafe.co.nz/quality-stayer-maygrove-retired/ Purely retired because of the handicapping. Sad to think Grey Way managed 52 wins, whereas these days a good quality sound galloper can only manager 55 starts because of the system.

When the world finds the level of Treasonous activity this POS has done, you will all be shocked at how many people go down. There are Hundreds of people from many different countries going down. This "Kiwi" living over here is watching this slow moving train wreck. Many Americans hate Trump and are embarrassed by what is happening to this country. He is fully owned by Russian Mob and it's not just Putin he fears but Putin's Boss. Semion Mogilevich who runs the Russian Mob. This guy makes the italian Mafia look like a joke. He is the real person in charge. Also the reason why Manafort got caught lying to Robert Mueller. Trust me, they have Trump and his cohorts on Signals intel and he cooked.

One problem being those designing the site would have been more comfortable with a straight fixed odds site. They would not have been familiar with a site requiring fixed and tote. It really shows. AS well the desktop version smells of being the mobile version. I still haven't found how to put a quinella on. Chap tipped me the quinellas in the first 2 races. He made a deposit last night via direct bank transfer. should have taken 15 minutes but come 1.00pm today still hadn't shown in his account and the 2 quinellas came in. The explanation from TAB. "They put it in the wrong column" like debit instead of credit. TAB could have purchased an existing fixed odds site for peanuts and just developed a tote site ensuring the 2 are properly linked. Judging by the front end problems hate to think whats occurring at the back end

  28. I for one agree with Tasman Man. When I give a horse to a trainer I intend that the horse will be good enough to compete at Alexandra Park or Addington. If it was only good enough to race at a grass track meeting at Te Aroha I wouldn't bother keeping the horse in work. I would sell it to Australia for as much or as little I could get for it

We probably do have too many tracks. The fallacy is to think that closing some tracks will automatically help those tracks that remain. There is no evidence that closing Nelson helped Blenheim; or closing Westport helped Greymouth; or closing Orari helped Timaru; or closing Beaumont helped Wingatu. Interestingly, most of those "closed" tracks still exist, but I don't think any gallopers are trained there anymore, and I don't think any trainers from those tracks moved elsewhere. So I am very dubious that closing Banks Peninsula will be a gold mine for Riccarton. As for closing Omoto and Reefton to turn Kumara into the hotbed of racing on the coast and closing Timaru and Oamaru to turn Waikouaiti into the Shatin of the South Island, well: I might be proven totally wrong, but I think we are dealing in the realms of fantasy there.

I do not know much about how the NZR/TAB support clubs. Obviously there is the input into the stakes but in terms money to up keep tracks and other infrastructure , I do not know the detail. But if a club can upkeep a track and associated building without central industry support why should it have to close down the track? As for the money from a community asset going to fund uncontrolled expenses etc. in Petone --they can take " a running jump".

  33. This competition will be run on all the feature races on the Magic Millions Gold Coast programme, 8 races i believe and also on the 3 features at Trentham. It will be a points based competition 5 points for a winner,3 points for 2nd and 1 point for 3rd. Group1 Levin Classic and the Magic Millions Classic for 2yo's are triple points if you pick the WINNERS, so 15 points The Group 3 races are double points so 10 points if you pick the WINNERS of these. Placings in any of the Group1,Magic Millions Classic or the Group 3 races will only receive normal points. Need to select 1 horse in each race and select 1 horse to be you BB of the day, in other than the races mentioned earlier, your BB will get you another 2x points wherever it finishes in the first 3. Scratchings go onto TAB Fav ,no replacements after entries are in. Entries will close 1 hr before the first race of the competition. Prizes are betting credits. First prize $300 2nd prize $150 3rd $50 Draw prizes split, my decisions will be final.
