Storm in a teacup team. Rather like me with Consensus, at various times I’ve owned up to 50% of her, but three years ago I leased my interests out then sold my lessor interests to a family member, with the arrangement being that I get 50% back when she retires or she’s repaid her purchase price Does that mean I currently own her ? Not really ( but I do in spirit ) Does that mean I will own 50% of her again soon ? Absolutely. Am I allowed to imply, suggest, or claim ownership of her right now.....well I can and I do.....but in reality I don’t. It’s not as though anyone is claiming ( and note this case was with NZTRs support, and ultimately the RIUs support when Midget was charged ) that they own 90 horses is it ? And that cost the industry thousands of dollars, not counting the $15,000 Morton was awarded in costs after that rort of a hearing brought about by the fabricated charges against him. Let’s move on from this, we’ve got far bigger fish to fry at the moment ( is it time for a joke about MAC & fries ?)

    Smokin By

Are you guys serious? The Williamsons (all of them) are some of the most competitive people on a racecourse and you're looking to create a scandal where there isn't one! Smokin By was over-racing so Nathan took the opportunity to get him into the clear well before the passing lane, but because he was over-racing he took a little while to get balanced up and hit full speed. By sheer co-incidence while that was happening the horse outside of him laid in and tightened him, and Matty's horse shot through a lucky gap. One horse was being a handfful to drive and getting no luck, and the other was travelling well and got all the luck. End of story. I'm afraid you'll have to look elsewhere to satisfy your need for a scandal and a reputation to sully!

I see a trainer won a Harley, would the unwritten rule in this instance be that he or she gives the owner a sling , now if horse sold on at profit or horse wins , a little bit of a treat should go the stable and stable staff way . If owner provided the horse and paid bills wouldn't this be fair to share the love the other way in this instance ?

Difference being Alan was a battler so easy pickings for the constabulary. ( Was actually there for the Cup and backed Dandaleith at 80's and from my clocktower vantage point had no idea he got to within a neck of Arwon. -no big screen in those days)

Exactly what I thought. Not only a jockey but partner to one of leading trainers. To my mind thats significant information for punters. Over the years there have been numerous cases of officials going to the letter of the regulations concerning disclosure of ownership. Still can't get over how the officials ruined the career of Alan Pringle then based in Hastings over the part ownership by an alleged bookmaker of Dandaleith placed in the Melbourne Cup .

It's a lot cheaper for many of those who go around at Palmy to race there than for them to go to Cambridge (where stakes lower) or Auckland (premier horses) Why the hell do you want to get rid of the part timers from the CD's anyway?? If bloody Wanganui can race 2 days of dogs every week surely harness can handle 10 - 12 meetings a year at Palmy?

    Smokin By

Heres the RIU report on its performance as a 1.60 shot " SMOKIN BY - over-raced rounding the final bend when held up for clear racing room. Shifted outwards near the 300 metres. Placed in restricted room in the early stages of the run home" To all the conspiracy theorists out there, it was a mere coincidence that his brother who trailed Smokin By won the race after using the passing lane vacated by his brother early in the straight. It looked a lot worse than it actually was. Yea Nah

I note Bruce Sherwin said on Weigh In that the offender was a person of “diminished responsibility” Which member of the NZTR staff was it ?

You don’t actually have to put the full ownership into the book if you don’t want to, it is your choice if you want to disclose this.

DE said it was the best Harley he had ever seen , he said it Breezed up real nice, was all quality and could see it go on to win a Karaka Million at 2 then as a race like the Diamond Stakes or Sires Produce and train on as a 3yo to win a 2000 Guineas , he reckons its a real Derby type! Couldn't believe how cheap it was as well.

    Jacinda Ardern

Now is the time for Simon Bridges to demonstrate some leadership and to stand up and attack Jacinda Ardern hard for her desire to sign this dangerous pact. One of our readers wrote to Simon last week and he replied that the National party will be opposing the pact. They need to not only oppose it; they need to make a massive song and dance about it. They need to rip it apart. They need to expose it for what it is and how New Zealand will be handing over its sovereignty and the control of its borders to an unelected Islam-dominated world body that does not have our citizens’ best interests at heart. This is one world government stuff. They want to fill us with Muslim immigrants and they want to create a world army. The globalist agenda is terrifying and New Zealand has to grow some balls and say no! Bridges has stated he will not sign , if we sign we will lose control of our own immigration policy . What the hell is Mr anti immigration Winston doing about this , NOTHING , It seems there is growing opposition in Europe as well , people have had enough . Thousands of demonstrators in Brussels have marched against a UN migration pact, signed in Marrakech last week. The largest member of Belgium's ruling coalition, the right-wing N-VA party, left the government last Sunday in protest against the prime minister's decision to sign the agreement. Bart Claes, the president of the youth wing of the Flemish nationalist party, Vlaams Belang, told the BBC that people should have been consulted before Belgium signed up to the deal. "It's been approved apparently," he said. "But the opinion of the people was never asked. That's strange for something that goes this far." "We think the decision was not made in a democratic way, with a minority in government and a minority of the Belgian people," he said. "That's what we are protesting against." More and more countries in Europe have clamped down on migration in recent years.

I think its a valid question. Supposedly we are talking about a half share not some 5% syndicate share. Why was it not shown in the book? Is it because a leading owner, leading trainer, leading jockey have a different set of rules. Transparency is needed. What happens if another trainer expects Danielle to ride their horse then finds out too late no she has to ride her own horse. And the punter thinking she had a choice but actually no choice at all she has to ride her own horse.

Palmy possibly does better than many S.I. venues. As I have said before - starve a region their quota and the interest soon disappears. Just to name 3 (and they in the North) Wellington, Hawkes Bay, Northland.

Poor old Brodie. Well done Basil

Might I suggest you all just concentrate on this site. I know you like to wind Brodie,HTP, and Flagship up Newmarket RC when they post stupid stuff given the historical rubbish they post about you and the Darkside but is it really worth it? Your own call i suppose

No mention of the other 3 families that have lost members over the last week in her speech. Must have to affect our tourism to get a speech from the PM.

jeez give the guy a break. 1st day calling did a good job. no time to create his own style .I wouldnt want to work for some of you. Demand excellence or else !!!!!!!!!!! (on first day of course) Some commentators stayed too long ,great in their day but sadly enjoyed the limelight too much and refused to step down . a couple had farewell parties organised but still would not take the hint lol. Reg Clapp was one that springs to mind Syd Tonks another. in my opinion.
