  1. Well, I have read it thoroughly. I can't say it contributes anything useful. It sounds like a project someone in year 12 at a moderate high school, with no racing knowledge, might be given as a school project. As such I would give it a B-, in that it isn't total rubbish as a theoretical piece to show you were listening in class, but at that same time it adds absolutely nothing useful to the conversation. Perhaps the one thing that amazes me in this case, and in many others involving Racing's structure, is that there never seems to be any input from, or consultation with, trainers, who are the ones supplying the product and must surely have an idea why they don't support some meetings and races. And it certainly isn't always related to stakes. For instance, after Cup Week there is now no race meeting in the wider Canterbury area again until 7 Dec, and that is one of those basic "pull it out of the draw" CJC meetings. So all of those maidens and 65s eliminated over Cup Week have to wait another three weeks for a possible start. Trainers may be quite happy with this for all I know, they may like a three week break after a busy Cup Week, but I imagine some owners might be pissed off. I hope this report didn't cost the industry too much. There are probably half a doz people here on this forum who could have sat down for an afternoon over a few beers and produced something better. I did smile at the idea of promoting excellence in jumps racing, so focus on Trentham in July. And the regional carnivals on Fridays and Sundays; would they be at all the country tracks that are about to be wiped out?

  2. Ultimate Sniper for me . At his fourth start he did what only special horses do and he was going away at the finish . Marcoola was also very good but race was run in a pretty average time from memory so that negates it being the best performance for me

  3. Marcoola. (From an All Stars fan).

  4. Its more of the centralisation vibe, for goodness sake the place to begin revitalising racing is in the rural areas and racecourses its not just race goer interest that needs to be generated but some interest in working in the industry that is generated in those rural areas. It would be interesting to see how many of the staff at some of these bigger stables came from a rural background or rural courses that got them started in the game and yet they think getting rid of them is the answer, short term view for a long term disaster imo.

  7. Fair enough and well done to The Informant( Nov 14th) for letting John Allen respond to the accusations that were aimed at the NZRB, still a question I have over the increased funding of $10 million this season. An accountant I am not, but if at the beginning of last season if the revolving credit facility was sitting at $0, and at the beginning of this season it sits at $10m, does that not equate to the funding increase? It feels uneasy where it states this is expected to rise to $30m over the course of the year on the back of increased turnover and profits, when you consider they’ve come from a position of having cash reserves and ownership of property just a few short years ago, of which now they have neither, to now having to borrow money. John states this is ‘real’ money going to the codes, it feels like real borrowed money. If the debt sits at $20m at the end of this year as he states, is that another $10m of real money to return to the codes next season ? Could I please be enlightened by someone with more accounting knowledge than me. Thanks in advance.

  8. No expert on healthy food that is for sure but from what i've read, chokeberry, black currant and elderberry have far greater health benefits than blue berries.Thats not to say blueberries aren't healthy for you because they are. I myself prefer the the $13 meal deal at the local fish and chip shop.

Spectacular fail. If you actually looked at the original Q message (instead of parroting back something you'd seen on your newsfeed), you would have seen the 53-47 was in relation to the Judge Kavanaugh vote. The vote turned out to be 50-48, so your infallible Q must have been having an off day... Anyway, as it stands the Senate is 52-47 so do try and get your facts right before making a fool of yourself, although that might be too late.

  12. TM has been there a long time as CEO which from a business perspective is not healthy IMHO. Sad that you and Army were not recognized for your efforts to provide the racing product. To me that's inexcusable but not surprising. Far too many intoxicated people and that was after 4 races. In the members car park area many were there to talk eat and drink. Most of them openly admitted that they never saw a horse, race or have a bet yet paraded as if they owned the place. If you entered by the SW entrance there were three booze bus's and cops galore and that was on the way in. On the way out i was amazed to find a checkpoint, im taking the piss now, and was breath tested. Copper said thanks your clear to go unlike those two car's drivers who are way over the limit. How stupid are some people and that was pre last race

  14. obviously a day you didn't enjoy so much Army - which is a great pity seeing you had a runner. The "problem" with Cup Day is that it is by far the biggest day the Club has every year. And to make matters worse this year - the public stand was closed due to EQ issues. So that takes out of play the biggest stand and the major capacity for people who want a seat etc. So Cup Day does become difficult in catering for the crowd - I thought the Club did pretty well on Saturday with heaps of marquees, tents and outside areas with tables and chairs etc. And I hope they made a lot of $ from all sources. One final point - last night we had a big storm blow through - if it had rained on Saturday it would have been a disaster

  17. Well Cup week is over for another week and a lot of people will be having a quiet day today. I'm not sure about Riccarton in terms of racing. Cops everywhere and for most down where the members car park was it was just a social piss up and next to no interest in horses or punting from what i observed. Each to their own i suppose. Harness racing was superb and congrats to the winners and losers alike. In my next life im opting to come back as a race day employee of RIU. Getting paid to do next to nothing looks to me to be a great career option based on my observations this week. Well done to Basil for being one of the winning members of POTY comp. On a sadder note i for the life of me cant see why so many from another site want to bag this one and its participants on a continual basis. Must be some really serious historical grievances but i and a few others i see are finding it more and more tedious. Good to see that most on here try to ignore the "Crap" for thats what it is and post about racing etc Greg

    The Shark Bites

They obviously think he’s a good horse. However, they have two options imho. Keep him home and race in NZ for pittance, win a few and enjoy. Or, if they think he’s got the class, send him to a trainer in Sydney/NSW for an Autumn campaign. Waller? If he’s any good, Waller will find out “how good”. If it doesn’t measure up in Oz ( as a few Te Akau “champions” haven’t ), they could take the horse back and get him ready for Hastings 2019 and beyond. But a NZ2000g win is not going to ensure success against the Oz Group horses. It’s another level. If he was mine, he’d be on a plane to Weir, Waller or Hayes.

  19. I sometimes wonder if anyone is actually in charge. There doesn't really seem to be an actual person you can blame directly for the various examples of incompetence. I note Riccarton had well over 42 noms for the rating 65 1,400m on Saturday, same as last year, but no one thought to run a 65 on the Wednesday other than one over 2,500m. You sometimes wonder whether they have a debrief after the Cup carnival and say to themselves "why are we getting 7 and 8 starters in the rating 72 and 82 races and eliminating rating 65s all over the place?". I suppose these days the debriefs are more along the lines of how pissed the youngsters got and how can we sell more booze to them?

  20. Hi everyone Maija will be keeping everyone up to date here with her progress and also how the Horses are going as well. Here is her latest progress and her best mate.... FROM MAIJA I've been getting a bit more movement and feeling through my legs, I do physio twice a day and they have just started letting me do independent excercises which is things I'm okay to do in the gym by myself which I spend most of my day doing. My release date from hospital was supposed to be the 21st of November, however they want me to stay an extra two weeks because they are worried I might hurt myself if I go home to early, as I'm always trying to do things I'm not quite capable of yet. I've been able to put some weight through my legs while in a frame holding my body, although my left leg is having a lot of spasms, it's spasms uncontrollably through out the whole day and almost every time I try move, the doctors are planning to treat it with an injection of botox to try stop the spasms. My Dad comes in every morning to see me and bring Toro in and my Mum comes every evening to have dinner with me and take toro home.

So your corrupt enemy of the people MSM told you multiple times daily that Trump colluded with the Russians to steal the 2016 elections but they have told you zero how the DemonRATs rigged the 2018 Midterms .
