Thanks for your POSITIVE comment unfortunately the atmosphere got to SC 38,000 hyped up Aussies make a lot more noise than 5000 conservative Kiwis. Next time she will be paraded in removable hood, that will probably be 10th Nov in $300,000 Matriach Gp2 at Flemington Only finished 11 lengths off the worlds best horse after racing very keenly and a lot handier than normal She has come through the race very good and we will be out to add to the $300,000 she has already won this season Cheers Michael9 points

They tell me that the new stabbing area at Headquarters will have new fold away seats for the stable employees. It is a long day for these hard-working employees and will be big improvement, rather than sitting on a bucket, whilst watching their horses. They will be sponsored by Cambridge Stud.3 points

Great thrill to be there Col. Very light crowd, seemed to have your room to ourselves, wandered among the horses, 20C temperature made for a boomer with the win being the icing on the cake. Possibly back for the Metropolitan in a fortnight, have to use up some fly buys.3 points

I know not everyone looks at the TAB races. But as someone told me you only say something when it affects you. Well they are right, if We did not have a dog in the extra race meeting I would not see, that race 1 is on trackside 2 which is on at 4.12pm. This is the only race from PN all day on the channel. Now when you set your sky, you do not look at what channel each race is on. Now I do know why they have done this is because of the Kaikoura cup which is on at 4.16pm. I get annoyed with not getting a fair deal with lead-up times, missing out on front-on's,especially at PN. Bev Duganzich1 point

Dont know about everyone else but i was more than pleased to see them win 3 races yesterday as well as a 3rd placing. Not bad for an 8 race card. They have put a lot into the game in the last decade and its great to see them having some success at metropolitan track. Racing needs these type of owners1 point -

Go for 30 in a row then pull up stumps. Would be a tragedy if anything happened to her and they don't want to leave it too late for the broodmare paddock. ....Frankel mating ? What would that be worth....?? Chris will know when the time is up.1 point

Will do, I know what it's like to be disappointed, I raced Basil Dean years ago and lost a few he should never have lost. One time he was a late scratch at Addington on Cup day and I found out over loud speaker. Turned out he had an infection that day. Lazarus To me it looked like he may have bled or he's not over his problem.1 point -
TAB $50M dry run went wrong!
Chris Wood reacted to rdytdy for a topic
Fixed odds betting on racing is disappearing off Touch Tone also. Why? I assume tote betting is remaining on Touch Tone. People who use it find it quick and, efficient without the need for an operator and it works when the TAB website crashes on big days. It is a great tool for those without computers or I-pads. The lunatics are running the asylum.1 point -

Savvy appeared to sweat up a little in the parade ring which raised a concern however it was well worth a shot , $100k in the bank will ease the disappointment . Best thing M P can do is get home safely and put his feet up for a good long break , nice try Michael , better luck next time .1 point -
Good post LZ. The point about the betting "culture" is a valid one, it is ingrained into the Aussie psyche...it isn't here. Leaving that aside, the simple variables like population, demographics, a multitude of other yardsticks and the willingness of Government to recognise the value of the Racing Industry and what it contributes to coffers in all its forms, make it extremely difficult for NZ to compete at anywhere near that level. Peters has had to drag them kicking and screaming to the table to get anything done here, whether you think the Messara report is worth a damn or not, and while we have this unholy trinity in place, I don't see anything changing on that front...it's not in their DNA. Having said that, the Industry here are not helping their own case as Chris has pointed out above.. Ineffectual bodies not prepared to make the hard decisions and really put the pressure on as they have done in Queensland. They must be delighted with the return they have got so quickly, as the Govt tax there on betting in the State would not have declined presumably if punters just switched to Melbourne or Sydney. Where's our Peter V'Landys....??1 point

Messara report... Luv it!
Pam Robson reacted to La Zip for a topic
Yes, good work by the QLD industry...the participants...participants, not the duds that are Racing Queensland, won this battle...never heard ONE iota from the pen pushers. QLD racing has a similar smell to NZ about it...not healthy. But while this has been going on, I began to think more about the Messara Report and it’s chances of being implemented. I think the area that JM has not been well advised and something that really hasn’t dawned on him.....there is a huge difference in the psyches of Australian and Kiwis....something which you really don’t understand unless you have been born in Oz and worked In NZ in thoroughbreds. in Oz, it was all about the punt...setting one up to take the bookies. Yes, the bookies...and in comparison, NZ doesn’t have the depth of that “culture” ...therefore having a bet is not considered a vital part of every day life.....and to be fair, I don’t think any of the experts called on by Messara to provide industry background would have considered this. (Most of them are Kiwis living in Oz and most occupying that rarified air of the ivory towers sucking oxygen from those at grass roots...so basically they know SFA of current every day life at grass roots level.) There has to be more discussion on getting better returns from the Government on what goes through the TAB and the corps...unless there is a major push to change the culture or lay the path for the introduction of bookmakers - which is never going to happen. You can’t suggest what works in NSW or VIC, will work here...and the spoils will just roll in...there has to be a significant upgrade of the product to encourage / excite people about having a bet.....and how to make that happen is the $64 question. Just food for thought...1 point -

Plugged would probably sum up my weekend OM, Ventura Storm on fixed dug me out a bit but Prize Money slowly away never really in race and not sure why I threw a bit on Nakeeta, that looks like expensive bringing him out. . Benbatl paid ok for place that was decent cover. US Navy Flag Friday , done money cold , iam sticking with him though if he goes down straight six in few weeks, Spirit of Valour has really stepped up on form back in North. For every champion you need a challenger and Benbatl went quite some why to the adding of nerves pre race and the excitement on course as they rounded the turn I would have thought , would he fight back would she put him away, well she put him away. A gallant horse him though. They should come back , Winx may be gone and only The Autumn Sun looks much chop at moment , Verry Ellegant might be the Kiwi interest in next few years.Cannot see Humidor getting closer to him as he's pretty consistent abroad. Cannot see anything winning Cup out of yesterday's MV Cup , more I think about it Yucatan stays it wins.1 point -

Neruda is right about some of the rides. Race 1 set the tone and it did not improve. After being closed for so long I thought the welcome mat would be out but we arrived at the door of the public lounge to find a “ Prvate Function - no entry” sign on the door. And half the front lawn fenced off too. I left by race 4 and next weeks private function will be staged in my lounge, with all facilities in operation.1 point

JCA Committee to hear Exclusion Enquiry
muntermagpie reacted to what a post for a topic
I refer to giving the impression they view the publics perception of integrity in the sport as of paramount importance. While at the same time accepting processes protecting the rights of those accused have to be considered, and decisions made relating to that which are out of their hands need to be adhered too. Its a fine line they walk. Everythings always jealousy and vendettas to some.Same old broken record. Jealousy does exist,so does injustice, cheating, dishonesty ,etc..but in this case why cant you just face it that the same rules and standards actually apply to everyone and that just because you are a well known name does not mean you are a protected species.1 point -

VS , kind of agree with you. SYT was campaigned hard by Ballydoyle and imho emerged with a huge reputation up North, as a class horse with iron constitution. He was at most big meetings , tried on dirt , a champion .The fact is and I know Chris Waller is on a downer after what Matt Chapman said ( although I think you would have to watch a bit of Matt to see he's a rev up merchant who means no harm and is again in my opinion both knowledgeable and forthright ) that the Euros are some many lengths ahead in general at her best distance.I would argue they are ahead In both breeding and training horses over in my opinion mile plus or would argue more strongly mile quarter up . It's proved year after year both the imports and internationals. Yesterday was first time since 2009 a Southern bred horse won Geelong Cup. I could reel off a list of handicappers, listed, group 3 Northern horses that came to Aussie and won group 1s, Grand Marshall, December Draw, Contributer, Hartnell, It's Somewhat , it goes on and on. Criterion showed up in Europe its tough and he was very very good , best of his day here. Look who filled last places last week CC Cup, who fills most top 10 Melb Cup now days, where do Aussie big guns buy their older in training horses. So Winx is beating weaker opposition fact, however she can only win v who's she's against. That last win in Turnball though , she should never have won, that was a big statement , that was brilliant. Who knows what Winx would have done in Europe, I think she would have won a Group 1 for sure , be so dominant for so long , no way. Just look at list of world's top 10 ranked and where they race.Times mean nothing in Europe generally, every track different so that's no formline to use.Sandown , to Goodwood to York to Ascot all got own characteristics. I read Euros best don't travel, no not down here due to timing , they regularly travel between each country, they travel in big numbers to Breeders Cup and Hong Kong International meeting. Enable next week at Churchill Downs, Roaring Lion may have a sporting go at the Dirt Classic if well. Frankel didn't travel but crushed best there was in distance range Europe are dominant . Black Caviar dominated in distance range Aussie lead the world in and won with all conditions against her up North. Winx is a wonder horse , 20 mill in bank why would you travel with risks involved but there will always be that opinion up north, if I were connections , who cares what others think. What a ride she's given them. Others clearly would disagree but that's the fun of racing, different opinions and favorite horses. Dato Tan China Nam maybe took another view, no right or wrong though imho.Different with stallion anyway commercially .1 point
