Clearly the police investigation has upset the supporters of some of the high profile players. So often these supporters seem to live in a bubble, immune or deaf to the standards the great majority expect and want. At one point you refer to behavior " that has long been done ,playing silly buggers at some low grade harness meeting' yet you infer the police investigation is a bad thing. Going on your previous posts on certain subjects, i'm guessing this investigation has come too close to home to those you support.. Whatever the final outcome is,i hope everyone reading racecafe notes the attitudes of many of those who participate in this sport,it really is an eye opener.4 points -

Impressive achievements. The part of his post that I originally quoted was Behaviour" that has long been done playing silly buggers at some low grade harness meeting" To me that displays a level disdain and disrespect towards those who punt and compete at these meetings and expect fair play. I assume he says what he thinks otherwise why else say it. I expect fair play if i'm putting my hard earned $ on in every race, irrespective of the stake,or what class of meeting. You can't differentiate just because it suits you. Many other posters have referred to it happening in the past. Its as if its just part of the game. Well it was dishonest then, and its dishonest now. That's the way I see it. Getting annoyed with Who investigated it,what it cost. Whats that about.3 points -

I think you have to take the $$ figures mentioned "with a grain of salt". On one charge the $1400 may be an exact figure, but the "over $1000" may be just a threshold for the exact charge laid ..... that is, a lesser penalty may be for a charge "under $1000" and greater penalty for a charge "over $1000" .....3 points -

Well I'm flattered that you not only read my posts but you actually remember them ! I don't ,cos only I know the recipe to them...are they devils advocate, tongue in cheek ,gentle sarcasm or holier than thou which is obviously an angle you prefer. You guess wrong ,none of those charged mean a horse's arse to me and none know my name nor have they spoken to me personally. Should they ban them all for life my syndicate horses won't be affected . Yes , I don't approve of drugs but this is 2018 and some All Blacks ,League stars ,lawyers etc all dabble in them on a recreational basis....there are many high functioning addicts and alcoholics. Yes ,this is racing and gambling and in the 9 years I have been involved I've learned the inconsistent ,enigmatic motives of many involved...get used to it. Yes ,I look forward to the facts coming about this race-fixing , party drug fiasco. and YES I think the police involvement in this....18 months of phone tapping etc is a huge waste of Police resources if they can only come up with one deception charge and a few very debatable races under investigation. As it was well known 17 months ago that our two top drivers were being watched by these undercover geniuses one would imagine they were driving like they always did. Could they be that thick. And YES I am very cynical that the Industry regulator the RIU felt it necessary to involve Police.....I don't think they live up to their $5 million plus price tag. Why can't regulators do their job. What do you think ...whats your holier than thou pollyana view or do you think your anonymous view will be scorned by us 'nutters' that read race cafe !3 points -

Leggy these are big comps with big prizes and over 100 entrants per comp ... The sponsors of the Holiday in Fiji deserve to be on the main forum page and I guess i and PJ deserve to be too... I think overall the RaceCafe site is far superior to the other site you frequent...with the new addition of the News pages ... I think it is not to cluttered and the comps will be staying here until they are finished, the other comps in the past that I have run have been here too... If that is the only issue you have here then I think we will be able to work around it. The other site would love to have 100 members let alone 100 entries into their comps.... I bet they are very Curious would you not say??? As Ohoka says they are huge comps PJ has been a great supporter here for years and these comps in my humble opinion deserve to have all the exposure they can get as they are fun and entertaining for those involved. But I respect your opinion.2 points -

Murderers , child molesters , armed robbers and meth cooks get more even reporting and police conferences than this witch hunt ! Did they ask what the firearm was - a toy battery powered lighter - no reported on both sides as loaded firearm , drug dealing quanity - no never - is it one pill or suitcase full and shall I go on . The media should be charged with contempt of court - i bet Eaton has a lot more skill than police and media and he raised the issue . Let everyone have a fair trial but by condoning over zealous behaviour before the matters get to court is impeding the justice system and fairness of these cases .1 point

Scoobs, I totally respect your opinion on this too. It is after all your site and your decision. I have no problem with the Bula Vinaka ad being on this page either, nor the header ads pointing to the great comps for those who are interested in that. I was only questioning the actual comp threads being here rather than on the comps forum. I'm not interested in engaging in anything that runs down another site or claims that one is better than the other in some way. I doubt you'll find any comment from me on either site in that vein. I believe there's room for both and maybe more. That's why we have more than one TV news channel, and the likes of a McDonald's and Burger King on the same corner. I am probably biased because I'm not here for the comps, however good they may be. Not to say, I won't ever enter one. I appreciate having the opportunity to ask the question I did though.1 point -

Judge Raoul Neave has a history of calling out the media based on his "personal opinion". The "Dud Judge" has had calls for him to step down in the past for his lack of "judgement" The Police absolutely did the right thing by holding a press conference after the raids. The public needed to be infrormed to alay any fears/concerns; after a large police presence, during property raids as part of Operation Inca. No persons of interests were named in the Press Conference. Chastising the Press for doing their jobs with live updates in this age modern age of technology and reporting also continues to show how out of touch he is with society. None of the accused rights were breached with the live updates!1 point -

Evidence will be presented to the contrary of your opinion obviously. Drivers aren't exactly going to wear a sign on their chest saying " i'm fixing this race" are they although the Nelson drive was cynical at best. The cops will have evidence of collusion and the defence will attempt to explain the evidence away with whatever rebuttals they believe are correct.. time will tell. It's also worth noting that the drivers of a couple of races in question aren't not being charged to my knowledge so would not have known of the actions between other parties...1 point -

The anatomy of a failure by WH How to make a right pillock of yourself: Step 1: Believe the lie of catastrophic anthropogenic global warming; a.k.a. man-made climate change. Step 2: Believe the lie that the Arctic (or Antarctic) sea ice will all melt in the summer. Step 3: Convince a rent-a-mob of protest idiots to join you on an expedition to save the world and highlight the imminent something or other. Step 4: Get a ship and set sail to show the world how serious it all is and that we only have 3 years, 8 months, 2 days and 37.8 minutes left to save the world. Step 5: Get stuck in the ice that is not supposed to be there according to your deeply held religious beliefs handed down to you by the High Priests of C.A.G.W; Al Gore, Micheal Mann, James Hansen, Lucy Lawless, Pope Francis, Prince Charles, Gavin Schmidt, Bill McKibben etc. Step 6: Cost various countries an arm and a leg to rescue you and your crew of idiots. The latest example was students from University of Rhode Island’s Inner Space Center who set off on a “research expedition” with a team of natural and social scientists, students, and a professional film crew. It was hailed as a ground-breaking opportunity is to research and aid the understanding of and/or document climate change effects. Nek minnit … Cpl. Serge Yelle of the RCMP detachment says he expects between 80 and 90 of the passengers will fly from the remote Arctic coastline community back to Yellowknife. The Transportation Safety Board is considering whether it will send investigators to the site. A board spokesman says the ship has suffered some damage. Sounds just like 2014 all over again. Remember the #spiritofmawson expedition to Antarctica that had to be rescued at a cost of around $AUD 2.4 million? The MV Akademik Shokalskiy, chartered by the University of NSW-associated Australasian Antarctic Expedition to retrace the steps of explorer Sir Douglas Mawson, became stuck in thick sea ice on Christmas Eve. The 52 passengers were rescued by the Aurora Australis on January 2. In 2011, the British group claimed that they had rowed to the North Pole (because there was no ice) when in fact they dragged their boat across the ice to get to their claimed magnetic north pole destination. The reality was that they were some 790 miles from the correct position of the magnetic north pole. Fortunately, we can rely on the original Top Gear team to poke the borax at it all as they drove to the north pole in CO2 belching vehicles whilst drinking gin and tonic. Emily Armistead, a speaker for Greenpeace, condemned the show as highly irresponsible given the impact that CO2 has on the Arctic. Well, diddums!1 point

Leighton Smith slams the climate fraudsters by CS Leighton Smith has always been of the few out there calling out the fraud that is climate change. His recent column on the topic has led to Greg Presland at The Standard calling for him to be attacked for daring to have a different view, the commenters of course all pile in and plenty of them are demanding he be silenced. Such is the tolerant left. The column they are ranting about isn’t even that long, In fact Greg Presland wrote more words against the column that are actually in it: Quote:. Climate Change is another one of those topics being shoved down our throats by a rather small group of people who are amplified by the woke left and other assorted wombles like flea lawyer Greg Presland. Not a single prediction of these supposedly brilliant scientists has ever come true. Their modelling is flawed, perhaps even based on a fraud. The whole scam is a fraud on society.1 point

The process was streamlined about 5 years ago and goes roughly like this: No plea is common at first appearance which will result in being remandsed over for 2 or 3 weeks at which time a plea would be expected. If no plea is entered (can't imagine why) a not guilty plea is entered on behalf. From there the defence and the prosecution jointly file a “Case Management Memorandum” with the court, and the court registrar considers whether this memorandum raises issues that need to go before a judge before the trial. This Memorandum will tell the court all the details that relate to the case and what the issues will be at the trial. The Case Management Memorandum must be filed at least five working days before the case review date. There are certain things the parties should discuss before filing the Memorandum, so that these can be addressed in the Memorandum if necessary. Things like: Whether the accused would like the judge to indicate what sentence you would receive if you pleaded guilty. Whether the accused would consider pleading guilty to a lesser or different charge. Whether the parties agree on any of the evidence that’s to be called, which might mean that a witness does not have to come to court or that the trial will be shorter. Whether the accused objects to any of the evidence the prosecutor wants to call at the trial. Whether the parties agree on how long the trial will take, and on a date for the trial. If anyone is still awake let me know if you want me to continue1 point -

Hey guys, just my little piece... I know this site is designed for robust discussion in circumstances such as this. I am in no way defending those accused! However, as most of you would know, the racing industry is a small community and a lot of these people are friends, family or just people you have seen grow up. This is not an easy situation, even for those who are innocent of any wrongdoing. I understand the disappointment from a punters, friend, family or merely racing entusiastes view if these people are found guilty. However, the unfortunate affects from this investigation will be devastating, not only to the industry but to the mental health of those involved or family members around them! These people have obviously made mistakes but who hasn't? Everyone deserves a second chance and i hope that we see those ultimately charged back on the track, whether that be in 5, 10 or 15 years time. The blue magic saga resulted in (i think I'm right, a bit before my time) two suicides. So although the people charged may have done wrong, can we try not to speculate too much and think about the mental health of those affected. Any loss of life would be absolutely devastating to the industry. As i say, this is just my little piece. Im sure many of you will have a very different view on this from me. One last thing, i have been heavily involved in this industry over the past 10 years, watching people i care about (although they've done wrong) and their families endure this tough time has been extremely hard to swallow. A number of my friends in the industry are feeling similar. I myself, have booked an appointment to see a councillor. If any other person in the industry is feeling the same please please reach out for help! Thanks1 point -

Well on past performances good luck following this crap , he regularly goes into Friday night with 1 or 2 winners. Having said this there are a couple of obvious ones there today so a basic pass today would be 3 winners.
