  1. so all of you are going to pre-read and then cast judgement. Who,in reality, gives a f? Change doesn't happen in an eye-blink, nor does it happen without angst. For mine, the basic numbers are NZRB costs approx $205m p.a. to run and the return to the codes is approx $150m p.a. Reverse that equation and NZRacing has an extra $50m to distribute every year...small steps but how much grief to put into place? Only from those who'll squeal. Change the Chair, change the Board and get the bulldozer moving forward.......

  3. maybe 5 or 6 years ago people were bagging Thomas Wood and even recall his father coming on here saying c'mon guys, give him a break. Went to Singapore, now in Hong Kong and the world's his oyster. Vision is a rare skill and most on here live in the today mode....

    National Handicap

I'm reslly looking forward to seeing Dream About Me stepping back out on the track, but really it is nothing more than a glorified trial at the end of winter. Handicap races (are we still allowed to call them handicapped?) with one starter off the front are hardly handicaps I reckon. But anyway, good to see a few genuine open class horses dust a few cobwebs off this week.

  6. I am sure Sure John Messara has nothing to do with Trotting or the Greyhounds over in Australia, so why would it be any different here. Trotting offers incentives to take your horses to Alexandra Park, already one step ahead of our code!

  8. Sorry can't agree...the young fella is doing just fine. Both his roles are challenging ones and his dedication and preparation is obvious. He will continue to impress IMO.

  11. Em, the lack of interest is indicative of the mindset in the industry. It is far easier to sit back and complain about what we see as negative changes without bothering to try and be part of the change. I think the term that comes to mind is acquiesce.

  13. I think some of the comments re Messara are a bit off track. The guy is one of Aust most successful breeders via Arrowfield. He’s a successful racehorse Owner. His son is a successful racehorse Trainer. Himself is a very capable Racing Administrator and single handedly, pushed Racing NSW and Australian in the right direction, working “with” the Govt to bring it out of the doldrums. As a result, Racing in Aust is far better off for his direct involvement. So, when he was invited to do a report on NZ Racing, There’s no doubt in my opinion, that the right person was chosen. Sure, some in NZ (eg, BArryB ) might say, “but he’s an Aussie and us kiwis don’t need another Ozzie blah blah blah etc”. The biggest worry for NZ (imho) is “ “What is activated from the Report - if anything?”. Going on past performances, NZR doesn’t do itself any favours and no Govt has ever looked upon it as an Industry that contributes to the NZ Economy and also the social fabric of Society. So much can be done to invigorate it but whether or not the Govt and Racing Authorities have the will to apply the paddles to the patient is another story. But don’t blame Messara - he has the broad knowledge of Racing and he has the runs on the Board - something many on this site don’t have.

    My only bet for today.......

As regards Kings Will Dream, I cannot get my head around how horse that June July 2017 runs first three lifetime races in UK.Cannot win a poor 7 runner Ripon maiden in UK , then poorer 5 runner midsummer evening maiden at same venue then wins poor maiden at Pontefract ends up Caulfield Cup fav 13 months later. Previously trained by Micky Hammond a decent bread and butter dual purpose trainer from North Yorkshire and very good ex jump jock , was a 50 thousand Euro yearling at Goffs but went through Tatts HIT as unraced 2 yo for only 7000 guineas to Hammonds yard . I wonder what Darren Weir paid for him after Pontefract win?.Most of those horses out those races destined for selling hurdles and point to points. The only horse of any passing interest out of those three maidens was Highland Cradle who ran last in the 5 runner maiden who is the ex Smeardon trained Verdants half brother but Juddmonte outed him for 9k a week after that race. What with The Statesman, Darren Weir must have a good talent scouting team seeing potential away from the main tracks up there. Hes got a ton of improvement out the horse , he was huge Saturday. Talking buying up North, how did OTI end up with High Bridge ? Dam 1000 Guineas winner , unraced Godolphin, went jumping bumpers , then novice hurdles , then handicap hurdles , ran in Belfair Trophy Hurdle Newbury beaten 53 lengths in Feb now carrying 59kgs from Chris Wallers yard first up in Australia at Warwick Farm tomorrow as an 8 year old. These trainers really casting the net wide up there. I suppose prices for better performed horses so high now they got to work wiser seeking out some rough diamonds. Good luck with Brutal.

Only gonna be brutal CBT for the usual Sydney Saturday suspects trying to give Avilius 7 kgs . He could get drawn Gate 53 and still win Saturday. Gets up to closer his trip as well.

  18. Having listened through the interview, I'm encouraged by Rutherford's recognition and admission of the mess Te Rapa is in and the earnest response needed to get things back in order. This response seems to include flicking off two industry meetings in September to other tracks, and undersewing grass, but meantime having plenty of hooves help to force that sand from the surface into the ground. A question Coppins (useless interviewer) didn't ask Rutherford is why the club didn't have anyone competent overseeing the work done in February. Rutherford said the contractor did a "very shoddy job", being supposed to spread 4-6 mm depth of sand across the course, but actually putting on up to 2 inches (i.e. 50mm) in places in a central strip of the track. 50mm is 8 to 12 times the depth of sand supposed to have been laid, so it was indeed a shoddy job. Clearly the club was incompetent in not noticing and intervening whilst the contractor's shoddy work was in progress. Follow-up questions Coppins might have asked are whether Te Rapa paid the contractor, is seeking compensation, and has warned other clubs off using the shoddy outfit.

  20. Geez big Booby give the young guy a chance. He has knowledge and can discuss harness racing intelligently. Much better future than the self promoters ,,,, who dont help with the Betting. (boy better not name them they get really steammed...!) In the past very knowledgable and helpful frontmen have not had great voices but were of immense value.

    Trump written off

Although the Catholic Pedophiles have been news for some time... its another thing to sort out. If you had taken the time to read what you call Fantasy posts regarding the Q, all posted by 100 1 you'd realise that theres a huge push back from the Trump Administration which includes arrests, indictments and many human trafficking scenario's that you denoted as Fantasy The reality is... the world you live in Bloke.. has you looking at it with closed eyes. There are sick individuals who would even sacrifice children and even babies.. to fulfil their sick desires of being powerful and rich. When the hidden underbelly of the evil societies rear their ugly head... you call it a Fantasy? or perhaps like others define it as a Conspiracy!! President Trump in his executive order prior to xmas... is a Step in the right direction, Special taskforces have no-doubt been setup to crackdown on Pedo-rings and human traffickers. Its a ugly topic to speak about... which is in part why alot of the Mainstream Media have not been involved in covering it. Pedo-Gate was censored by youtube... for the nature of the Topic and also becos of the connections that would have revealed alot of Democrat leaning asociates involved and to some extent right leaning as well but then.... what the hell do i know

Q is saying this is just the start.....they have it all.(info)....human trafficking is a bigger industry than drugs. This is how the Deep State control politicians, actors and others. It is the reason Trump is attacked by all quarters as they know he is going to expose them. This is where it's heading.....pedophilia and child sacrifice will take down Washington and Hollyweird. https://yournewswire.com/mel-gibson-parasites-blood-kids/

I must admit, i find the banter between you and others very hardcase, im just not sure how i would feel if we ended up backing the same horse. There have been plenty on here before, beat there own drum about winners they back after the race. keep it up mate, and enjoy and appreciate your views on your fancys from across the ditch. Varro

Read my earlier post...Why No Arrests Yet The sheep like you will first hear about it when the unredacted FISA request is released....then the firing of Rod Rosenstein Your corrupt propaganda media doesn't report it because they are part of the deep state! No mention of the 45,000 indictments? No mention of all the child trafficking rings arrested? No mention of spying on Trump No mention of all the CEOs resigning? No mention of the pedophilia in Washington and Hollywood? No mention of the firings in FBI DOJ? No mention of the CIA. They are not allowed to mention CIA in exchange for anonymous sources No mention who got paid in the Iran deal? No investigation into the Clinton Foundation? No mention of the Uranium One scandal? No mention of countless other scandals cover up.....its all about what they dont report

    Presenter on Trackside

For a beginner on T V he's doing a great job. He's the first presenter since Stephen Stuart who actually does his homework on NZ harness racing and just doesn't babble on about M Purdon.
