Trump is positioning himself to make huge gains from China , they won't like it but because China is winning big time under the current deals , they have the most to loose and both party's know this . Once he has fixed the EU , Mexico and Canadian problems his position will be strengthened on trade issues , these other country's will support him .

I don't think either will be 3yo of the year. Chase Auckland will probably take that title. Over the last 3 year years you have come up with one example except for the trotters (and they now have there eyes onthis money too). You sound like you are the AS number one fan or marketing manager. All I am doing is give my personal view to what the end result of this total domination is and it's not good. It's a problem for the TAB ie lack of turnover on these races. Which means its a problem for harness racing in general. Look at Southern harness. It's bucking the trend. 3 things standout, they don't have group racing. Their field sizeis better than the average and they don't get the AS's Putting our head in the sand is not an option IMHO

World’s first $1 million greyhound race announced for Sydney Wentworth Park will host the world's richest greyhound race in October. A newly created greyhound race worth $1.2 million, making it the richest race in the world, will be run at WentworthPark on October 20. The GRNSW and Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase (520m) eclipses Victoria’s $630,000 Melbourne Cup (515m) which is run at Sandown on November 23. The Million Dollar Chase series will start in September, consisting of 11 NSW-based regional races, for dogs domiciled in districts across NSW, plus another 14 metropolitan qualifiers, open to greyhounds throughout Australia. Sixty four dogs from the regional and metropolitan qualifiers will compete in eight semi finals on October 13 with the final run a week later. The series will offer $1.7 million in prizemoney with the final worth $1.2 million, carrying a $1 million purse for the winner. More information will come to hand in the coming hours.

If all goes as planned, Lazarus will be supplemented to the $300,000 Dan Patch on Aug. 10 at Hoosier Park for his first official race in North America. The event is for older pacers and restricted to the 10 highest lifetime money-earners that enter. The fee to supplement Lazarus, who earned the U.S. equivalent of $2.66 million during his storied career Down Under, would be $25,000. Jimmy Takter, who trains Lazarus for owner Taylor Made Stallions, said it would have been nice to race the 6-year-old pacer on Hambletonian Day this Saturday at the Meadowlands, but the Dan Patch was a better fit in the horse’s schedule. In addition, the winner of the Dan Patch receives an automatic nomination to the Hoosier Park Pacing Derby on Sept. 21. If he wins that one, he could race in the (Hoosier Park Pacing Derby). And Hoosier is a good track. It’s a fast track too.” Lazarus arrived at Takter’s farm in late May following his purchase by Taylor Made Stallions. During his career Down Under, Lazarus won 35 of 45 races, including two editions of the prestigious New Zealand Cup and 15 Group One events overall, and finished off the board only once. He earned NZ$3.8 million. On Saturday, the stallion capped his 1:48.3 mile with a :25.3 final quarter. His time was only three-fifths of a second off Pure Country’s 1:48 record for a qualifier. Driver Yannick Gingras told DRF’s Derick Giwner, “He couldn’t have done it any easier.” Later, Takter concurred. “It wasn’t like Yannick was hard on him,” Takter said. “He’s a heck of a horse.” Lazarus is a son of Hall of Famer Bettor's Delight out of Bethany, who was sired by top Down Under stallion Christian Cullen. It did not take long for Takter to determine Lazarus was worthy of his reputation. “I could feel pretty early that he was a little special,” Takter said. “You could feel it. This is not just a horse. We knew that, but you never know. He came from a totally different continent. Everything is different. I’ve never been in New Zealand or Australia, but everything is so different compared to our racing. You never know how they’re going to do. “But a lot of these horses that have come from Down Under have done well. And he was one of the best they ever had down there.” Takter was surprised by how quickly Lazarus acclimated to life in the States and proved to be ready for action. Takter decided it was time to start the horse’s North American campaign sooner than later. “He feels so good,” Takter said. “I’m scared to over-train an older horse. Too much training makes them a little bored at it. Especially the training I do, it’s a little boring. It’s like a job.” As much as Takter appreciates Lazarus’ talent, he is equally impressed with his disposition. “I like when you get those nice Bettor's Delights,” Takter said. “They’re very laid back and sweet, not a mean streak in them. They are just sweethearts. “He’s such a laidback horse. He’s not a horse that does anything flashy when he’s training, he just goes through the motions. He takes care of himself, he’s a smart colt. But when you ask him, he’s serious. Very serious.” Lazarus’ schedule could include the Canadian Pacing Derby (eliminations Aug. 25; final Sept. 1 at Woodbine Mohawk Park), Hoosier Park Pacing Derby, Allerage Farms Open Pace (Oct. 6 at Red Mile) and the Breeders Crown (eliminations Oct. 20; final Oct. 27 at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono). “I’m excited by it,” Takter said. “We’ll play it by ear. We’re going to play it a little as it goes. It might work out pretty good.”

Here are some stats. 181 individual drivers won between 1-232 races. All-Stars won 122 races.' Mark, Nat, and Tim (he drives a few outsiders) won 126 races. Top 11 drivers won 1022 races between them not a lot of them won on All-Stars horses. From memory, there are about 373 licensed trainers.

Looks like GG on trackside 2 tonight , excellent stuff trackside. 9s FF Idaho in Cup if favorite runs flat might have a squeak. Fav had small scare after Ascot so for me worth a throw at stumps old Idaho. 5th in last year's Japan Cup so no slouch.

On the money there SP, 6 furlongs that's it tank empty. She went on to finish 2nd in the next year's July Cup to Habibti . Day after the Stewards i persuaded my nan to let me roll up my winnings on Wiki Wiki Wheels , with his brother Miki Miki Motor my all time favorite racehorse names .It won and I was hooked and forever in love with Goodwood. Soba' s trainer David Chapman and jockey Dandy Nicholls both sadly passed on, the old march of time .Chapman was a master of beating the handicapper with the sprinters, Chaplins Club in the 80s won 9 races in season twice (when uk flat season ran March to Nov) including an unreal 7 wins in 19 days one year. He also won 9 in a year with Glencroft , the horse had been tubed so bit disconcerting seeing him walk round paddock. Basically Chapman got hold big players cheap cast offs and problems and worked the oracle. A true punters friend. Right going to nab telly before family watch build a house show and relive Soba 1982 on you tube. Good days.

may need to explain ; the field of 8 dogs in the chase were allocated draws 1 to 8 as per normal but in this strange race 1 raced 2 , 3 raced 4 etc. so ineffect there were 4 individual 2 dog races where time meant placings. with conditions changing with rain this was a bizarre event held in Whanganui on last friday night. Only good thing from greyhound owners viewpoint there was 60000.00 dollars to win and some donation to charity which noone seems too clear about. !

I don"t get your reference of Oamaru. Full fields sure but the average horse here is worth perhaps 5k. If there is a market for them at all. The things is once you get one good enough for the group races then you strike the AS team. The money your horse is now worth and your chances of winning one of these races, it makes it an easy decision to sell. That are the simple facts. The only thing that may save it is owners like Pat Kubala who wants to win a good race. And you say he won't sell! He must be a Bit of a Legend then.

I with you about G G. Red Rum. Its hard to describe the course unless you have actually been to a day or of racing. And the less said about the society ladies the better

Beaut story Aaron, just a shame it was buried on Maori TV. The thrill of racing eh..A bunch of battlers from an anonymous Welsh Valley bred their own horse and took it to the top. Broke down in a jumps race with serious tendon trouble, they wouldn't put him down, had stem cell treatment and was nursed back to health to come back to win the Welsh Grand National. Not sure I would have tempted fate in the Grand National as they did, where the earlier problem surfaced again and he was retired. Won I think £170,000 in his career so they had a great run. Fantastic.....

What a neat story.

Take your blinkers off fartoomuch. All stars while they have every right to do what they please. They are killing New Zealand age group and open class racing by 1000 cuts. There's no answer to it but sell our better horses. The costs of training it is unafordable to race a horse unless there is a return. I know it's defeatist but surely they realise it as well.

They will programme some, and these will race with 3 or 4 acceptors. The TAB will come up with some "kooky" betting options and then they will all wonder why their turnover is plummeting. Unfortunately these days only options appear to be : 1) If in NI - send them from mid August to the SI 2) If in the SI - send them to Mark/Nat - this includes NI's that have just gone down there 3) Sit back and wait for Mark/Nat to sort them all out programmes in Aussie then watch them get exported. 4) If the above remedy not to your liking then just help an agent get fat and sell them off the sooner the better. In other words open class racing in NZ is next to extinct!

It is probably Matt Markham.............. simply because his 4 selections in each race at Oamaru are the same as the shark's. Well on past performances good luck following this crap , he regularly goes into Friday night with 1 or 2 winners. Having said this there are a couple of obvious ones there today so a basic pass today would be 3 winners. On the whole the entire lineup at trackside need to take a good look at their records as every one other than the Whale would qualify for a rates rebate.

I would like to thank the Huntley family for giving coats as a prize,for getting in the final for the Ray Huntley Memorial . As we had 3 dogs in, we got 3 coats, which is very good for cold winter nights. And for them to give away a coat to all dogs that made the final. Again thank you, Bev Duganzich

Absolutely yes on both accounts. There are no better role models in the international arena of breeding and racing than HH The Aga Khan or Prince Khalid Abdullah, so they are a great place to start. I did mention a Juddmonte horse to a NZ stud master 3 years ago - Time Test, who now stands at the National Stud in Newmarket. He would have been a perfect horse .... But as NZ is so heavily dependent on the export market it’s going to be difficult to come up with a well performed, reasonably priced fashionable son of whatever the flavour of the month is...so I guess a bit of the out of the box, a la Aga Khan thinking, needs to happen. Rich Hill are thinking outside the square and have have taken a couple punts with Vadamos and their new Japanese stallion...I wish them all the luck with these two... and yes, in a typical NZ scenario, what stud (and partners) can afford the silly prices for new stallions. 20m+ Each for the 2 latest over hyped, over rated colts.

Ferlax only ended up with 51 live foals so similar to Shamexpress and obviously a few have went overseas. These first season stallions working off small books. Then again Power was first season champion sire in NZ by individual winners and prize money last season and he only had 52 live foals.
