Hi Peter, I think Wrinkles was on Redkirk Warrior as well. Makes it pretty tough for LDM to win. Looks like we need Frolic to win for Steve P.5 points

At least the after burner kicked in John, came home with a wet sail. Good scoring all round by the team , some of those totals would have normally won the day. Our secret weapon Steve P saving it up for our Joker Play. Can't wait, and I bet Steve can't wait either. Hopefully we are still with in striking distance, and the Joker will have us baying at the leaders heels. Good days3 points -

I had Embellish in my F4 - looking for a good run. Still got F4 but really BB, it's not about AFC, it's about the performance. It's only going to get harder for Embellish from here. Hopefully, he will do ok but - it's a big ask. If they want to give him the best chance to win a G1 in Oz then maybe a switch of Stables to Weir, Hayes or Waller would enhance his prospects. He really has to win in Oz to make it. A 2000g win on it's own may not be enough. Don't let your parochialism get in the way of reality Baz2 points

Thanks John and team Lay Down Mizere. You guys are a top team and there'll be a lot of wins ahead for you in the coming weeks. This was a close match today that see-sawed back and forth. Fortunately for us Double AAs lady luck went our way the final two or three Aussie races, and we managed to come away with a much-needed win. Good team effort today Double AAs with special mention of Tom and Wrinkles with top wins in their individual matchups. Great stuff, fellas. I think we're starting to hit our straps now, and we can look forward to making our way steadily up the leaderboard in coming weeks. The team we had earmarked from Week 1 as our Joker play has done particularly well the past fortnight ...so it could be that a rethink is in order. Yes na...we'll go with the original plan. Watch this space....no, not the one between my ears. Thanks for the scoring and updates today, PJ. Much appreciated .....even more so when we win.2 points -

Spare a thought for the owners of Zacada. His jockey said, and I kid you not, "they went too slow so I only came eighth." That is the sort of logic that would make her a brilliant cost accountant for Fletcher Building.2 points -

TAB
ivanthegreat reacted to eljay for a topic
Why is it at least once a week someone interested in Harness Racing has a bitch against the TAB. Today (Sunday) there are 9 (Nine) Dog meetings in Aussie covered yet only 2 (Two) Harness Meetings? They are not offering coverage of the meeting at Bathurst supposedly because there is no coverage from Sky - so bloody what! How often have we heard "this is a No TV coverage race" so that excuse doesn't wash. Surely people in NZ would be more interested in day harness in Bathurst than poopers in Darwin! Oh well, off for a coffee at the local Cafe - at least I can afford that!1 point -
Spot on, Trump and La Zip. I can't see Embellish improving a heap from this run, and even if he does, so will the others. He has been up for quite a while and in my opinion will struggle to improve as much as some of the others. He was easily outsprinted over a mile by Scott Base in the KM who has himself been knocked over (by three others!) over 2000. Embellish is no chump; but he's no champ. Can I say that without Scooby telling me off?? LOL1 point

I think you summary is spot on. This horse needs to enhance his record to ensure he is well patronised at Stud. As many of the resident mares at Cambridge Stud are by Zabeel, he will need plenty of outside mares to ensure he gets numbers on the ground. And with a lovely array of young stallions on offer in NZ, unless he has the top notch racing record to back his fee, then it will be a long hard road to the top. Therefore a stint with David Hayes beckons.....or another proven stallion-making trainer....1 point

For sure! Trainer really was upbeat during the week. Embellish had a nice run in transit and should have shown more than he did. It will be interesting to see where he goes next. The guineas will be harder than today's race. What about the run of the 4th horse? Very very good. I bet Mickey Walker had stayed in Oz rather than fly to NZ for a Flying Feet scratching!1 point

Had you noticed Steve? He'll certainly be short in the jockeys challenge. Speaking of which someone put $10,000 on Chris Johnson (another of my favourites) paying $1.40 in today's jockey challenge at Invercargill. He didn't ride a winner and accumulated 3 points. A fool and his money ...... I reckon the "King" will win on Pink Graffiti and might sneak one more win from all those good rides.1 point -

I made my point , hard to knock Mr Pitman he’s got a fine record and is a bloody good guy even taking the time to reply personally to insignificants. Rare in this game , and in one of very few sports where the fans are not treated with the respect they deserve given their patronage and financial input to their own detriment in majority of cases . Grandstand critics, couch jockeys are a necessary evil unfortunately and there’s always someone somewhere grumbling about a ride .Respect where it’s due in a tough sport but come on scoob give those on the outside there little gripe from time to time we need to vent1 point

Tomorrow's the day the Ad Augusta boys start our relentless march up the leaderboard. We've been positioned four deep along the rails, and are now angling away from the fence to start our run. I see the 'Mighty Blues' boys Brian and Pete are leading the way in the 'Magnificent 7' , and with another Blues boy Gordy doing well in the Lay Down Mizere and Geoff the top selector in last week's round there's only one Mighty Blue needing to lift his game ! Ahem, no names, no pack-drill. These ones will give Steve P the shivers, surely. Here I go :- R1 : 3x4 BB NZ R2 : 3x6 R3 : 4x9 R4 : 2x4 R5 : 1x4 R6 : 2x6 R7 : 7x13 R8 : 1x3 R9 : 1x4 R10: 3x13 BB Aus No Joker play from us this week. With John, Steve & Gordy in the opposition team this week, for the Double AAs to play the Joker from position 8th from 8 would be, should we say, "ambitious". We won't put added pressure on ourselves. Good luck to you John and the Lay Down Mizere team. I'm ready for you, Steve P ! Let's see what you've got. hehe We're on to this, Double AAs ! Thanks, PJ. p.s. Geoff hasn't posted yet, so I can't copy and paste his selections. "Dragging the chain" back at Lastof40 headquarters. Hope he hasn't cost me a much needed win.1 point -
