  1. No one has ever been restricted from betting on the tote. With tote rebates it doesn't matter if you had a winning or losing month you get 5% of your turnover back. Most of us on here are aware if you want to bet into a 100-105% market you use betfair. If you want to be able to lay off for a small profit you use betfair. If you want to lay a horse you think is unders you use betfair. If you want to bet sports in play you definitely use betfair. NZ TAB is no different to the majority of overseas bookies, and as much as Brodie complains like a little girl with no alternatives, fact of the matter is he's just lazy.

  3. Brodie if you are Elite which you have said you are you just need to click on elite button and go to events and you can go to any of there events that are there. I wonder about you and your cedibility. I think you overstate your true punting ability and the money you actually spend. Can anyone on this entire forum vouch for your incredible ability and phenomenal strike rate. To put that much fear through several different agencies in Australia is incredible in itself. Any chance of letting us all in on Powerball next draw champ ?

  4. I'm not sure about this 'Forum Equo' outfit. Consensus is they are a pretty strong team - Steve P, Steve, Geoff, Jill, TC - a team that is a Top Prospect and likely winners of the comp. I've heard that word too, and yeah they look a useful enough bunch, a Hiflyer or three in there ...but some will Start Wondering if they are a smidgeon over-rated, if the tendency hasn't been to Embellish what each of their team has achieved to date. I'm yet to be convinced that they've got what it takes. 7 consecutive days will really stretch them...I think they could be flyers rather than stayers. Did anyone see Redzel win the Melbourne Cup ? I think they've got a job on their hands.

  8. I am not back tracking at all. What I have trouble reconciling is that you turn over "many many times over" 100k and are so heavily restricted. You must have a phenomenal strike rate.

  14. Here are the rules for newbies and those who want to check: THE RULES 1. Players. Each team will consist of 5 players. If you can't play on a given day you may nominate a sub from outside the comp or have a team mate post for you although in the latter instance their selections on behalf of the missing player must vary from their own to some degree. 2. Draw. The draw will match each team against another team every day until all teams have played each other by the conclusion of Round 7. 3. Selections. Competitors are required to select two runners per race. No subs are to be posted. All selections should be posted at the same time although I may make allowances if this is not possible due to late arrival for posting. Posting the same numbers for each race is not permitted. I don't think your team mates would want you to do that anyway. You must post at least 6 different (initial) selections to your opponent if you post after them. 4. Scratching Rule. You may post replacements for any scratching by editing your original post up until 11.00am on raceday. After that time any selection which is scratched will be replaced by the TAB sub followed by the 2nd favourite by TAB win odds in that order. If more than one horse meets the latter criteria then the replacement will be the horse with the higher number. 5. Investments. Each selection will be regarded as an imaginary $10 win bet while if both selections start, a $2 quinella combining the two selections will also be credited to the competitor. So that's a $22 investment per race per competitor if two tips are submitted. 6. Best Bet. Each selector may choose two races each day as a "best bet" selection. All $$$ earned from these races will be doubled. In the event of scratchings the same best bet (BB) will apply. There will be no transference to a subsequent race. If your best bet race is abandoned - bad luck !@ 7. H-T-H. The draw will pit individual players from the two teams drawn to play each other, against each other in head-to-head competition. The player with the most $$$ at the conclusion of the round is the winner for his team. The team with 3 or more winners wins the match. 8. Countback. If a head-to-head contest is a tie on $$$ earned then a countback will determine the winner by award victory to the player who uniquely selected the highest placed horse in the final event. In other words if you both selected the same horse that cancels itself out. It would be the two selections which are different which will determine the tie-breaker. If the selections are the same for the final event then the same parameter will apply to the penultimate race and so on. 9. Points. Teams will be awarded points as follows: 3-2 win - 2 points 4-1 win - 3 points 5-0 win - 4 points Bonus points Team profit bonus - 1 point Losing team with higher aggregate than their conquerors - 1 point So a well performed side which still loses may earn as many points (2) as a side which wins narrowly . 10. Joker. No Joker will operate in this comp. 11. Posting. Please post your selections by number (names are optional and unnecessary). If you post replacements for scratched horses then do so in anew post rather than edit your original. 13. Closing Time. There is no closing time but selections are only valid if posted at least one minute before the starting time of the first or any race. My decision is final in this and all other matters. 14. Winner. The winning team shall be the one who accumulates the most points over the 7 days. If teams are tied on points a countback on total $$ earned over the 7 days will apply as a tiebreaker. Round 1 - Dec 26 - Ellerslie 10 races starting at 12.43pm Forum Equo vs We 5 Kings Steve v Hesi Jill v Tom The Crucible v Brian Geoff v Punter Pete Steve P v Ray The Rubiks vs Vidi Vici Cubes v Howie (Shield challenge) Sir Gallivant v Casper Rob v John Gordy v Mr Gee Kloppite v Maureen Sleighed'em vs The Demented Elves Maria v Graeme Jen v Roland Hall v Sarah Wrinkles v Korio PJ v Robert The Famous Five vs The Numero Unos Betty v Jack Ian v Catalano Heather v Tony Rosina v Pete Dave v Rees

  17. Howie for 'Vidi Vici' : 'I Saw, I Conquered' Thrilled to be teaming up with multi-title award winning John of Hurricanes-fame, the friendly but lethal ghost Casper, Maureen the Invincible, and the wayward genius longshot-nailer Mr Gee, in Team 'Vidi Vici'. First unlucky outfit lined up for a conquering are the promising but overmatched Rubiks Cubes. They'll be in the running today for a while, then the home turn will loom up and we'll lower the boom - bang, irresistible 'Vidi Vici' run launched in the home straight. I made my selections two days ago, and then made an early New` Year's Resolution not to change any of my original selections in a PJ Comp ever again ! ...so I'm going to the post today with exactly what I selected two days ago. They are :- R1 : 1,5 R2 : 2,4 R3 : 3,4 R4 : 1,3 R5 : 10,14 Best Bet 1 R6 : 2,8 R7 : 4,12 Best Bet 2 R8 : 3,4 R9 : 3,6 R10 : 3,5 Very good luck to us all, 'Vidi Vici' team-mates. Good luck to you too today my very worthy opponent Cubesy. Thanks very much for this comp, PJ. Much appreciated. Enjoy a great day's racing, everyone.

  32. Good question Portfolio but alas the punter only gets 5 % of all loses if turnover for month is over 10k on Fixed odds so if They have a winning month They get no FOB rebate. They get no rebate on normal fixed odds turnover but depending on their level get rebates on tote betting. Hope that makes sense.

  35. I find that statement a bit tricky to reconcile with your statements in previous threads about not being able to get a four figure bet on.
    1 point
  36. People can be unlimited through the tote. People do get restricted on FOB so they can only win a certain amount. NZ TAB are way more lenient than other agencies e.g. 365. Sportsbet luxbet who will virtually cut you off after a big win. I believe about 100k turnover a year to get to the lowest elite level.
    1 point
  37. That is a lot. I have questions for you as interested. Are they mainly betting on the gallops? Aussie? A rebate of $20 000 odd is still tiny to compared to the amount lost so, in NZ, there are some punters who have floats of millions? Why don't they bet offshore since the odds and enticements are so much better? It is often mentioned on here that the TAB sucks and the glory is offshore. How can someone like Brodie be restricted to putting on and winning such low amounts when people can bet around $500 000 a month? The $500 000 punters wouldn't last long if they were losing surely so it would mean they are winning... so why are they not restricted? How much do you have to bet to come to the attention of the TAB? My ignorance may be on show, but very interested as I say.

  38. You are totally wrong again Brodie. Plenty of customers return profit on combined tote and fob platforms and because of their turnover get invited to plenty of events as you would know since you are Elite.
    1 point
  39. Makes me laugh about nz tab so called elite customers. Crownbet pay Vic tote (nz tote) +5% on win/place. Crownbet will also give you 40,000 bonus points ($400) for this bet. You get this when you place bet, if it wins or not. So as you can see, these so called elite customers are getting well and truly shafted. They just like the ELITE title. So, lose $5 k get back $250 with the tab??? Woopee, chances are if you bet elsewhere and back same horses, you could have been in front, with a whole swag of bonus points.

    Franklin Cup Night

Yeh right but what would Roy know ROY REMEMBERS LEGEND ROY PURDON LOOKS BACK ON THE HORSES AND TIMES THAT MADE HIM FAMOUS Mark's appeal was unsuccessful but I was not really surprised. It is very hard to get a penalty changed over there at any time. This is a very busy time for everyone in harness racing and i am impress with the way Tim has handled his responsibilities at Cambridge with a big team. It is not an easy assignment and the encouraging thing is that Tim has stepped up to the challenge and answered it well. For a young man he is showing he can handle the pressure and you always want to see those sort of blokes coming through.

    WINTON RACE 9 FRANCO TAI

Good onthe starter for letting them go. Some of these drivers are trying to get an advantage over their rivals. I think Matt was trying to get a running start and got caught out. He had no need to circle away when he did. It was all done to try and gain an advantage. Not the first time he's done it. Was warned last week.
